On Monday, Dec. 7 at approx. 10:22pm, officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the area of 3400 Queen Anne Way in Colorado Springs. On arrival, officers located an adult female with an apparent gunshot wound to her arm. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injury. Investigation is ongoing, but initial information indicates that two unknown Black male suspects may have robbed or attempted to rob the female at gunpoint and the female was shot in the arm. The CSPD Robbery Unit responded to the scene and is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Union Blvd and Woodmen Rd

On Sunday, Dec. 6 at approx. 8:14pm, CSPD Officers were travelling north on Union Blvd in their marked patrol car, enroute to a traffic accident. When they reached the intersection with Woodmen Rd, the traffic signals were not working due to a power outage in the area. Vehicles were treating the intersection as a 4-way stop as required. When the cruiser entered the intersection, a vehicle travelling west on Woodmen failed to stop and struck the police cruiser broadside. There were no serious injuries, although one officer was transported for neck and head pain, but treated and released from the hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for Careless Driving and no insurance. The cruiser sustained major damage to the passenger side. Several lanes of traffic northbound, westbound and southbound at the intersection were closed for about an hour and a half.

UPDATE 12/07/2015: The El Paso County Coroner's has completed an autopsy and determined that there were no signs of foul play.

The Colorado Springs Police Department received a call for service of a deceased male at 9:24 AM on December 6, 2015. A passerby noticed the adult male, located in the open air parking garage just east of Johnnieís Liquors at St. Elmo Av and Nevada Av., did not appear to be breathing. Emergency medical crews responded and determined the male was dead. These crews reported observing trauma to the male victim. It is unknown what the type or location of the trauma is at this time.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit responded to conduct an investigation into the death which is of undetermined origin. No further information is available at this time pending identification of the male, notification of next of kin and completion of an autopsy.

On 12/05/15 Sand Creek officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Ironwood Pl to investigate a reported home invasion. Officers determined that a male party forced entry into the residence and assaulted the female victim. There were 2 teenage children inside of the residence when the male forced entry into the residence. One of the teenagers used pepper spray on the suspect which caused him to flee on foot. The male party was found by responding officers and was arrested for 1st degree burglary and assault.

On 12/03/2015, at 0944 hours, Falcon Division officers were dispatched to Monument Valley Park after a jogger on a trail adjacent to Monument Creek observed what appeared to be a body in the creek. Upon arrival a deceased male was located partially underwater in Monument Creek. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene as well as the El Paso County Deputy Coroner to conduct the investigation. At this time the cause and manner of death is undetermined pending further investigation by the Coronerís Office. There is currently no threat to the community or park users related to this investigation.

On 12-2-15 the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of an auto-pedestrian accident in the 2400 block of Old Ranch Road. The subsequent investigation revealed the 12 year-old pedestrian was crossing Old Ranch when the pedestrian was struck. The pedestrian was wearing all dark colored clothing and was crossing in an area that was poorly lit. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of April 16, 2015 at 6:11PM due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at Springsgov.com and go to the CSPD homepage/Forms & Documents/Counter Reporting. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them.
