Title
3330 N. Academy Blvd
Location
Officers were sent to the Copperhead Road bar located at 3330 N. Academy Blvd with reference to two small children being abandoned in a vehicle in the parking lot. The investigation revealed that the father of the children came to the establishment with the two children (both boys ages six and two) leaving them unattended, in a cold car without supervision as he went into the bar looking for their mother. The children were left alone for a period of time that was likely less than thirty minutes and were discovered by a good Samaritan who reported the incident to security staff of the bar. The children checked out ok physically but the abandonment was considered to be an abusive situation and both parents were cited for misdemeanor child abuse. DHS was advised of the situation and a temporary placement of the children was made pending further investigation.
Summary
Two arrests were made, the names of the arrestees are not being made available at this time.

Arrest
Title
3000 E. Fountain Blvd
Location
On 01/04/17 shortly before 2:00PM, officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the 3000 block of E. Fountain Blvd in regard to a disturbance stemming from a sexual assault. The suspect, 61 year old Allen Loggins, was reported to be in a parking lot at that location. Upon arrival, Officers Swenning and Reed quickly identified Loggins in a vehicle in the parking lot. Loggins refused to obey the officers’ commands to exit the vehicle, and attempted to use a vehicle passenger to block himself from the officers. Officers Swenning and Reed were able to safely remove the vehicle passenger, at which time Loggins became physically combative toward the officers. Loggins was physically removed from the vehicle and continued to be physically combative, at which time Officer Reed deployed his Taser. The Taser deployment was successful and Loggins was taken into custody. It was then discovered that Loggins was in possession of illegal narcotics. Further investigation revealed that the sexual assault was unfounded. Loggins was later taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Obstruction.
