On April 17, 2017, the El Paso County Coronerís Office completed the autopsy on the deceased adult male who was found in the 2200 block of Farnsworth Drive on April 15, 2017. The deceased male has been identified as 29 year old Andrew Lawrence Swiatek, Jr.

Mr. Swiatek was a resident of Colorado Springs. Inquires of the cause and manner of death should be made through the El Paso County Coronerís Office.

In the afternoon hours of April 15, 2017, detectives from the Violent Crimes Section, Homicide Unit, arrested nineteen year old Malik Rashod Lee, a resident of Colorado for Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender and for the First Degree Murder of Andrew Lawrence Swiatek, Jr. This continues to be an active investigation.

The Colorado Springs Police Department has determined the death to be the eleventh (11th) homicide of 2017. The City of Colorado Springs had one homicide at this time last year.

On April 18, 2017, the Colorado Springs Police Departmentís Violent Crimes Section, Homicide Unit, working with the Colorado Springs Police Departmentís Tactical Enforcement Unit, arrested 23 year old DeAndre Vonte Smith for the April 12, 2017, murder of 25 year old Alton J. Kelly, In the 800 block of Vermijo Street. Smith was arrested for First Degree Murder.

On April 12, 2017, the El Paso County Coronerís Office completed the autopsy on the deceased adult male who was found in the 800 block of East Vermijo Avenue the morning of April 12, 2017. The deceased male has been identified as 25 year old Alton J. Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a resident of Colorado Springs. Inquires of the cause and manner of death should be made through the Coronerís Office. This continues to be an active investigation.

The Colorado Springs Police Department has determined the death to be the tenth (10th) homicide of 2017. The City of Colorado Springs had no homicides at this time last year.

On the above date and time Officers were dispatched to a reported robbery alarm at a Diamond Shamrock, 3115 Sinton Rd. Upon arrival officers learned a white male, 30-35 years old, 5'09", 165 pounds wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans entered the business, displayed a knife and demanded money. The Robber was unsuccessful in his attempt and fled the scene on foot. A K-9 track was attempted but the suspect was not located.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Possible Additional Victims in Sexual Assault Case;

In early April, 2017, the Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit began an investigation on a Sexual Assault case. The suspect in this case has been identified as Glenn Allan Lainfiesta DOB: 04/02/1973.

Lainfiesta has an outstanding warrant for Sexual Assault on a Child by one in a Position of Trust a class 4 Felony, Criminal Attempt to Commit Sexual Assault on a Child by one in a Position of Trust a class 5 Felony, and Unlawful Sexual Contact a class 1 Misdemeanor.

Lainfiesta has been working for approximately 2 and a half years as a sparring coach at the Academy of Life and Leadership Taekwondo at the Chapel Hills Mall, 1710 Briargate Boulevard in Colorado Springs. During his time there he has instructed an unknown number of students who are juveniles and we are seeking information on anyone who may have been victimized by him in the past and not reported it.

On 04/17/17 at 2251 hours, Officers from the Stetson Hills Sub-Station were dispatched to the intersection of N. Academy Blvd and N. Carefree Circle on a report of a person standing in the roadway. Upon arrival Officers contacted a suspect, identified later as Tyler Pedersen, who was standing on Academy Blvd in traffic.

It was discovered that Mr. Pedersen has just committed a shoplift at a local business and when asked for his name he lied and gave false information to Officers. Mr. Pedersen then ran south from Police while he was being detained. Officers gave chase and deployed the TASER which allowed them to take Mr. Pedersen into custody without further incident.

She had the pepper spray ready and sprayed the clerk at the door. The suspect then got into a gold colored van (YQR668) which was reported stolen yesterday. The van was last seen south on Circle Dr. Female was described as White, 20-30 years old, 5'7" brown hair with a tattoo on her right shoulder blade of an unknown name/word.

On Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 10:00AM to 2:00PM, DEA will coordinate the 13th National Take Back Initiative (NTBI-XIII). This program is focused on providing convenient locations across the nation for the public to drop off excess, unused, and expired controlled substances and other medications from our nationís medicine cabinets. We do this by collaborating with state and local law enforcement agencies to host the sites. DEA will provide collection bags and posters; help orchestrate the pick-up of drugs obtained on the collection day, and dispose of all drugs.
