On this date the Colorado Springs Police Department issued an ENS message to a 3 block radius around the address of 3033 East Platte Avenue, to conduct Community Notification regarding Sexually Violent Predator, 58 year old Lee Filipiak. In late May 2015 the Colorado Springs Police Department began receiving reports from Colorado Springs Utilities in regards to wire being removed from city street lights. Detectives with the CSPD Metal Theft Task Force began tracking the cases and to date have identified approximately 13 total cases where wire has been removed and stolen from city and state street lights in the Colorado Springs and El Paso County area. On June 18, 2015 detectives were conducting surveillance of possible suspects in the area of 3500 W Colorado Ave. and observed one of the suspects unload a large quantity of wire consistent with the stolen street light wire and enter a motel room. Detectives coordinated with the Gold Hill Division patrol officers and contact was made at the motel room were a male and female suspect were taken into custody. During the execution of a search warrant at the motel room detectives recovered over 1000 feet of street light wire as well as tools and other items consistent with cutting and stripping of wire. At this time the investigation is continuing with additional arrests anticipated.

On 6/18/1 at 08:39am, CSPD Communications Center was advised of an auto pedestrian traffic accident in the intersection at Lelaray Street and Union Boulevard.

Investigating officers determined that a 2008 White Jeep Commander failed to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in the crosswalk when making a left turn. The victim, a 65 year old male, was transported to Memorial Central Hospital for treatment and was diagnosed with a serious neck fracture. He is in stable condition.

The driver, an adult female, was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way to Pedestrian.

On the above date and time, an unknown suspect entered the business and told the clerk they were being robbed and the employee observed a black in color handgun in his waistband. The employee did not have access to the cash drawer so a manager was called. The suspect left the area on foot, without obtaining any money. MLK Bypass over Circle Drive
Location
The Colorado Springs Police Department's Communications Center was contacted by a distraught male threatening to "Go on a bridge to prove a point" in the area of Circle Drive and Verde Drive.

Officers responded and found the distraught male sitting on the south side of the MLK bypass as it travels over Circle Drive. As officers approached him, he became more and more agitated at police and threatened to fall backwards to the parking lot below, a 50 to 75 foot drop. At times the distraught male would teeter back and forth as officers attempted to approach him.

Sgt. Mike Inazu arrived on scene and took over contact with the distraught male. Sgt. Inazu was able to quickly establish a rapport with this male and eventually talked him away from the edge of the bridge. The male was transported to Memorial Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

On June 16th Officers responded to a robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 1800 S Nevada Ave. Upon arrival, the investigation revealed that a lone male suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash after demanding it from a teller. No weapon was displayed. The male was described as white, in his early twenties, with blonde hair. He was reported to be about 510 tall with a thin build and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt. Detectives from the Robbery Unit responded to handle the investigation with the assistance of numerous patrol officers. At this time no suspect has been identified or located.

Location
On Tuesday, June 16, 2015, the Colorado Springs Police Department received information from Enterprise Rental Cars indicating they had a possible location of one of their vehicles that had been previously reported stolen. Falcon Division Officers located the stolen white, Ford Mustang in the 3900 block of N. Nevada Ave. occupied by two suspects. As officers confronted the suspects, the suspects fled in the stolen vehicle nearly striking a CSPD Officer. The suspects did strike a CSPD marked police cruiser during their attempt to flee. The suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle and were able to avoid apprehension. The stolen vehicle was later recovered a short distance away unoccupied. No one was injured during this incident and the police cruiser sustained only moderate damage.
