On 06/04/17, at 0215 hours approximately, Officers from the Stetson Hills Division were dispatched to the 5000 block of Ramblewood Dr. in reference to a large disturbance. Upon arrival it was determined that a large teen party was occurring in a residence when 2 unknown males showed up at the party. At some point a shoving match started in the living room which led to multiple people getting injured and taken to local area hospitals with serious but non life threatening injuries. Investigation on-going no arrests made at this time.

On June 3, 2017, at approximately 4:41PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 3000 block of South Academy Boulevard regarding a shooting. When officers arrived on scene they discovered hundreds of people attending a Community Event in the parking lot. Witnesses reported numerous shots fired at the scene. Witnesses further related that one adult male victim was transported by a friend to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. His condition is critical, but stable.

The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section, Assault Unit, responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. This is an active criminal investigation. The suspect is not in custody at the time of this release.

On 06/03/17, Gold Hill officers received information that a wanted party was staying at a motel in the 1700 block of S. Nevada Ave. Officers from Grand Junction, Colorado were looking for Manuel Galindo-Maldonado, a 31 year old male. Galindo-Maldonado was wanted for 2nd degree assault, kidnapping and felony menacing. Galindo-Maldonado was reported to be armed with a handgun. Officers tracked Galindo-Maldonado to a room at the Travel Star Motel. Containment was set up on the room and Galindo-Maldonado exited and was taken into custody without incident. A female party who was also in the room was arrested for an unrelated warrant. No weapons were located in the room.

Update: At approximately 1800 hours, the child was located and safely returned to her mother.

Colorado Springs Police are seeking an at risk missing girl, 11-year-old Zamyah Swisher, who ran away from her home in the 3000 Sunray Place at approximately 12:45 p.m. after getting into an argument with her mother. Zamyah, who has run away in previous occasions, made suicidal threats prior to leaving the residence.

Zamyah is an African-American girl, standing about 5 foot 3 inches tall, and weighing approximately 160 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a pink shirt with Minion characters on it and light blue Jeggins.

At this time there is no sign of foul play regarding Zamyah’s departure, but her family is concerned.

On June 3, 2017, at approximately 1:42PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 4300 block of Driftwood Drive regarding a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a two year old male inside the residence with an apparent accidental gunshot wound. The child was transported to a local hospital. His condition is critical, but stable.

Officers responded to the 4400 block of London Lane in attempt to locate Marty Jorgensen who was wanted for two Felony warrants. Officers attempted to call Mr. Jorgensen from his residence and did not receive a response. Officers gave several canine warnings, ordering Mr. Jorgensen to surrender or a canine would be released. Mr. Jorgensen did not comply with Officers warnings and canine Maverick was introduced into the house. Mr. Jorgensen was contacted by canine Maverick and taken into custody without further resistance. He was treated for injuries sustained as a result of the canine contact and then taken to CJC.

400 Blk N Tejon Street

On June 3rd, 2017, Officers of the Gold Hill Division responded to a reported bank robbery in the 400 block of N. Tejon Street. It was reported the suspect had stolen money and was fleeing on foot to the south and west.

Officers arrived in the area and began searching Monument Valley Park and the surrounding area. Officers also went to the bank to begin the investigation.

On scene investigation revealed a customer making a deposit at the bank had a stranger grab a money envelope from her presence and run out of the bank. Statutorily this was a felony theft and not a bank robbery.

Investigation is continuing to attempt to identify and capture the suspect. The victim was not physically harmed and there is no ongoing danger to the public.

On 6/02/17 officers responded to the 600 block of S El Paso regarding a personal robbery. The victim was about to leave his residence in a car when he was confronted by a male with a gun. The suspect took keys, an Iphone, and jewelry from the victim. The suspect ran south from the location. Officers as well as K9 Officers checked the area but were not able to locate the suspect. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as a dark skinned black male approximately 6'03 or taller, thin build, long dread locks wearing all black clothing and a black baseball cap.

On June 1, 2017, at 10:26PM, Colorado Springs police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block of Mason Way to investigate a reported kidnapping/menacing. Officers determined an adult female had been kidnapped by an adult male she personally knew. The female’s location was unknown.

Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Section, Domestic Violence & Adult Sexual Assault Unit, immediately assumed the investigation. Detectives worked through the night and located the female uninjured at approximately 8:30AM on June 2, 2017.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant against the male, 24 year old DAVID MENDOZA-MARQUEZ of Colorado Springs, for felony charges including Second Degree Kidnapping and Menacing. His location is currently unknown.

On May 29, 2017, at approximately 11:55AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a disturbance at a business in the 3900 block of Airport Road. When officers arrived, a male suspect fled in a pick-up truck after backing into a cruiser. During the pursuit of the truck, the suspect failed to stop for a red light at Academy Boulevard and Airport Road, causing a serious traffic accident. The accident resulted in serious injuries to two of the vehicle’s occupants. The suspect then exited the truck and robbed a female motorist of her vehicle at gunpoint. Officers pursued the suspect, but were unable to apprehend him.

CSPD Violent Crimes Section Robbery detectives took over the investigation and identified 37 year old Miguel Lerma Cruz as the suspect in the robbery, together with a number of other crimes. An arrest warrant was obtained for Miguel Cruz.

On June 1, 2017, CSPD Robbery detectives located a vehicle associated with Miguel Cruz. The detectives were able to confirm Cruz as the driver of the vehicle at a location in the 6800 block of Corporate Drive. Assisted by detectives from the Metro Vice, Narcotics, and Intelligence Division and officers from CSPD’s Tactical Enforcement Unit, Miguel Cruz was taken into custody without incident. During the course of the investigation, a number of search warrants were executed and resulted in the seizure of approximately $34,000.00 in U.S. currency, firearms, 289 grams of heroin, and 662 grams of methamphetamine, valued at $217,000.00.
