On the above date and time, Officers responded to 14th and Kiowa Street in response to a bear cub who managed to get her head stuck in a plastic protein powder bottle. Officers Wetzel, Duzel and Powers located the bear cub and attempted to remove the bottle to no avail. The quick witted officers were able to get the cub into the back seat of a patrol car and brought her to nearby fire station 3, where a Department of Wildlife Ranger sedated the bear. Firefighters were then able to safely remove the bottle with their rescue tools. The bear cub was tagged and released by the Department of Wildlife in hopes that she will be reunited with mama bear.

Location
Stetson Hills officers were dispatched to the emergency room at St. Francis Medical Center on E. Woodman Road with reference to an out of control patient. Upon arrival it was discovered that 32 year old Johnny Solis of Colorado Springs became a problem as he was being treated at the hospital. He menaced several members of the medical staff and multiple uniformed security guards with a metal T-Bar. Prior to officers arriving on scene, Mr. Solis knocked out several first floor ceiling tiles then climbed into the rafters of the ER. While in the area he damaged plumbing and electrical systems. Officers arrived on scene and attempted to peacefully resolve the situation but Mr. Solis refused to come down. Officer Pete Tomitsch was on scene, he ascended into the rafters and was able to remove the suspect from the ceiling and he was subsequently subdued and arrested. Mr. Solis was treated for minor injuries and will at some point be released from the hospital. He will be charged with one count of felony criminal mischief and one count of felony menacing. No further follow up at this time.

On 08/17/2015, at approximately 0955 hours, an officer was dispatched to a business located within the 2000 block of E. Kiowa Street to investigate a suspicious object located in the back of a trailer. Officers set up a containment area and evacuated nearby businesses and homes. Members of the Regional Explosives Unit responded and examined the suspicious object. The object was determined to not be an explosive device. Employees of nearby businesses and residents were allowed to return to their place of business and homes at approximately 1140 hours, on 08/17/2015.

On the above date and time, Officers were dispatched to the above location to investigate a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim who was able to exit the home to safety. Felony charges were applicable against the male half still in the home. Officers set up containment and the male half came outside but failed to comply with commands. A less lethal round was fired at the suspect but was non-effective as the male attempted to retreat back in the home where he had access to weapons. Police K-9 was deployed and made contact with the suspect. The party was then taken into custody and transported to CJC on numerous charges.

On Saturday August 16, 2015, approx. 10:30PM, Officers of the Colorado Springs Police Dept. Falcon Div. responded to the area of 300 E. Fillmore St. regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had accidently discharged a firearm while driving. The victim sustained a gunshot to his knee, severely damaging the leg. At this time, it is unknown how or why the firearm was discharged. The victim related he was being followed which could have led to the accidental discharge. There is no threat to the public. Charges are pending on the victim. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers were dispatched to investigate a stabbing in the 2500 block of Prescott Cir W. Upon arrival officers contacted a male party who had been involved in the disturbance at the residence. This male was transported to a local hospital for serious, not life threatening injuries. Another male was located several houses away. The second male was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for serious, potentially life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the violent crimes unit responded to take over the investigation.

On 08-14-15 at 1037 hrs Mr. Armato was observed in the Target store located at 1630 East Cheyenne Mtn Blvd removing CDs from the packaging with a knife. Mr. Armato was confronted by store loss prevention at which time he left the store walking eastbound through the parking lot. Upon arriving in the area Officer Ford observed the suspect fleeing the scene. He gave chase ordering the suspect to stop numerous times. The suspect refused to comply and was tased. He was then taken into custody for the theft from Target. The knife was involved in the theft but no one was threatened with it.

On the above date and time officers of the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the 600 block of N Murray Bl on a reported motor vehicle theft recovery. The victim of a home invasion robbery a few days before had located her vehicle, which was stolen during the home invasion. Officers arrived on scene and contacted numerous parties who were seen in the parking lot with the vehicle. As officers began detaining the potential suspects, one took off running. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and observed him attempting to pull a handgun out of his waistband. Officers were able to take the male into custody without incident and recovered a 9mm handgun from his pants. Another male party was detained on scene and found to have cocaine, marijuana, and prescription pills on his person. Both the male suspects were taken into custody and the stolen vehicle was returned to the owner.
