Title
N. Carefree Circle and N. Powers Boulevard
Location
At approximately 0133 hours, on 07/01/2016, an officer made a traffic stop on a pickup truck near N. Carefree Circle and N. Powers Boulevard. When the driver could not produce a driver's license and began making statements about not wanting to go to jail, the officer began to place handcuffs on the driver, for officer safety. The driver pulled away from the officer, with one hand in handcuffs, and ran back to the truck. As the officer wrestled with the driver, the driver restarted the truck and pulled forward at a high rate of speed. The officer disengaged from the suspect to avoid being dragged or run over by the vehicle.
A short time later , another officer located the truck and attempted a second traffic stop on the vehicle. A short vehicle pursuit followed, with the truck refusing to stop for pursuing officers.

The truck eventually stopped in the 3600 block of N. Carefree Circle, but the driver fought with officers as they attempted to take the driver into custody. Eventually, the driver was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Christopher Toy, 44 years of age.

Mr. Toy and two officers were treated and released at a local hospital. Mr. Toy was then booked into the Criminal Justice Center for multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Attempted Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Resisting Arrest and other traffic violations.

Title
