Title
Zero Hundred Block of E. Pikes Peak
Location
On 02/20/2015 at approximately 0136 hours, officers of the CSPD were in the zero hundred block of North Tejon Street actively breaking up a disturbance when they heard the loud and distinct sound of a single gunshot echoing off the surrounding buildings. Officers moved southbound towards the intersection of East Pikes Peak Avenue and North Tejon Street. A male later identified as one of the three victims directed officers to a white vehicle and said “He’s got a gun!”.

Officers ultimately contacted and detained two males, a 24 year old (suspect number 1) and a 31 year old (suspect number 2). The investigation determined one shot was fired into the ground by one of the suspects during the disturbance. A shell casing was found nearby and a handgun was recovered from the floorboard of the suspect vehicle.

As officers were approaching the suspects, one of the suspects physically resisted arrest and as a result a CSPD officer was injured and was transported to Memorial Hospital Central where he was treated and released.

Suspect number 1 was placed into custody and charged with Felony Menacing and Prohibited Use of a Weapon. Suspect number 2 was charged with Obstruction, served and released. It was also learned that one of the victims was wanted on an unrelated outstanding warrant and he was taken into custody.
