On the above date and time, Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate a roll over traffic accident. Upon arrival, it was determined a single vehicle traveling southbound on North Union Blvd lost control, crossing the center median into oncoming lanes of traffic. The vehicle then struck a light pole causing the vehicle to roll over and block all lanes of northbound Union Blvd. The driver was transported for minor injuries and alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the accident.

Barnes Road and Oro Blanco Drive

On Tuesday, March 25th at approximately 10:45 PM, Falcon Division Officers received information on the whereabouts of a wanted fugitive. Falcon and Stetson Hills Impact teams set up containment and ultimately arrested the fugitive near the intersection of Barnes Road and Oro Blanco Drive. The fugitive, 33 year old Michael David Young, was arrested for kidnapping and felony assault charges.

During a subsequent search of his vehicle, a suspicious package was located and the Regional Explosives Unit responded to evaluate the suspicious package. At the time of the writing of this ETACS, the evaluation process is still occurring. The incident is contained to a strip mall parking lot and there are no traffic impacts. Any further updates will be coordinated through the Duty Lieutenant and/or PIO office.

A firearm was also located in the vehicle. Mr. Young is a previously convicted felon and not allowed to possess the firearm. Members from ATF responded to continue that portion of the investigation.

***UPDATE***
The Regional Explosives Unit recovered what appeared to be a grenade from the suspects vehicle. After closer exmination through the use of special equipment, the device was determined to be a hoax. The area is now clear.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2015, CSPD IMPACT officers from the Stetson Hills Division arrested one of Colorado Springs’ Top 10 Auto Crime Repeat Offenders. Alexis Sanchez-Hall, 30 years old, was wanted on outstanding felony warrants for Motor Vehicle and Identity Theft. The IMPACT team, created to distinctively address crimes that are committed by semi-organized, habitual, or career criminals who repeatedly commit similar offenses or offenses that fit a "pattern," located Sanchez-Hall after a two-week long investigation.

All three southbound lanes of I-25 are closed at Interquest Parkway due to a large spill of broken glass. Traffic is being diverted into one lane to pass on the shoulder. CSPD is assisting Colorado State Patrol with traffic. Crews are enroute to the scene to clean up the spill. Alternate routes are advised. An update will be posted when the hazard had been removed.

Fillmore St and Chestnut St

At 1615 hours, CSPD was notified of an auto/pedestrian accident at Fillmore and Chestnut. Investigation revealed an intoxicated male pedestrian was attempting to cross Fillmore going south in the crosswalk against the signal when he was struck by a Dodge truck traveling westbound in the left thru lane. Traffic in the right lane had been stopped for a red signal. When the light turned green, the lead vehicle was able to see the pedestrian darting across the road and waited. The Dodge had a clear lane as he approached the intersection and started to accelerate when he saw the light turn green but his view of the approaching pedestrian was blocked by the vehicle in the right lane. The pedestrian stepped in front of the truck and was struck, knocking him to the ground. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The truck driver was cited for no proof of insurance. Traffic in all directions had been returned to normanl.

CSPD officers responded to a possible shooting victim in the 100 block of S. Academy Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female with apparent traumatic injuries in the parking lot of the Mountain Country Estates Apartment Complex. Medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the female to a local hospital where she died from her injuries. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating this incident.

If confirmed, this will be the City's third homicide of the year. At this time, anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to call the police non-emergency number, 444–7000, or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

On 03/23/2015 at 7:52 PM the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of an armed robbery that just occured at the Metro PCS Store, locatd in the 4300 block of Airport Road. A lone suspect entered the store armed with a gun and demanded money from the store clerk. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6'00" to 6'00" tall, 160 to 170 lbs, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Suspect fled to parts unknown.

4000 block of Ruskin Way
Location
On Saturday, 03-21-2015, Sand Creek Division officers were dispatched a reported residential burglary in the 4000 block of Ruskin Way. Upon arrival, officers learned Justin Allan Smith had unlawfully entered the residence of his ex-girlfriend and taken property. Officers placed a felony pick-up for Justin Smith; however, he was not located at that time.

On the evening of Sunday, 03-22-2015, the Domestic Violence & Adult Sexual Assault (DVASA) Unit was notified by patrol officers of another incident that had just occurred and involved Justin Smith and his ex-girlfriend. In that incident, Mr. Smith pursued the female in her vehicle and struck it multiple times with his vehicle. Justin Smith fled prior to officer arrival and was not located. Detectives responded and assumed the investigation.

On the morning of Monday, 03-23-2015, DVASA Unit detectives visited and conducted surveillance on several locations Justin Smith was known to frequent. As a result of this follow-up and surveillance, detectives located and after a brief struggle arrested Justin Smith on the afternoon of 03-23-2015.

Justin Smith was booked at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on multiple felony charges related to the incidents involving his ex-girlfriend.

No persons sustained serious injuries as s result of Justin Smith's actions.
