On 5/9/18 at approximately 0316 hours, Officer Edmonds made a traffic stop on a vehicle at 2900 Tremont St. Investigation revealed the vehicle was reported stolen as well as the license plates. There was a stolen motorcycle in the back of the pickup truck as well as multiple construction tools believed to be stolen as well. Inside the vehicle there were items from mail theft, package theft, burglarized motor vehicles, and at least 10 different victims credit cards/ID's. The female driver was arrested and charged with Motor Vehicle Theft. Additional charges are pending after further investigation.

On Friday, April 6th, 2018, at approximately 12:51PM, officers of the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving a Mountain Metropolitan Transit bus and a Toyota 4Runner. The collision occurred at the intersection of East Hancock Expressway and West Monica Drive.

The investigation was conducted by the Major Accident Unit and revealed the Toyota 4Runner was travelling westbound on East Hancock Expressway when it turned left in front of a Mountain Metropolitan Transit bus travelling eastbound on East Hancock Expressway. The Toyota 4Runner then struck a tree and came to a stop.

The Toyota 4Runner was occupied by a single individual who was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The bus was occupied by six individuals, one of whom had a minor injury.

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, at approximately 8:16AM, the occupant of the Toyota 4Runner succumbed to his injuries. No charges are expected in this incident.

This is the 16th traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs in 2018. At this time last year, there were 11 traffic-related fatalities.

Dublin Blvd. / Bridle Pass Drive
Location
On the above date and time, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a traffic crash at the intersection of Dublin Blvd. and Bridle Pass Dr. Upon arrival, officers found the a vehicle had lost control and rolled over. The driver fled the scene prior to police arrival. The Major Accident Unit was called out and they assumed the investigation.

The investigation revealed that an Acura sedan was westbound on Dublin Blvd. attempting to negotiate the construction zone at a high rate of speed when it lost control and rolled over. The driver, 26 year old Kolton Hawkins of Colorado Springs, fled the scene leaving his passenger trapped in the car. Once the CSFD extricated the passenger, he was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for serious injuries.

At approximately 12:50 AM on 5/7/2018, the driver was located in the 4500 block of Winewood Village Dr. and taken into custody. It was found that he suffered minor injuries.

Mr. Hawkins was charged with vehicular assault, a felony, among other charges. He was transported and booked into El Paso County Jail.

The intersection was closed during the investigation and re-opened at approximately 2:25 AM.

The investigation is continuing.

On Sunday, May 6th, 2018, at approximately 8:42 P.M., officers of the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a reported shooting in the 2100 block of East Platte Avenue. As a result of the call for service, officers located a deceased adult male.

This investigation is being conducted by the CSPD Violent Crimes Section.

Update [05/07/2018; 9:45AM]: On Sunday, May 6th, 2018, at approximately 8:42 P.M., officers of the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a reported shooting in the 2100 block of East Platte Avenue. The call for service led officers to a storage facility in the 3400 block of Astrozon Court, where they discovered a deceased male who had suffered apparent trauma.

The Violent Crimes Section responded and assumed the investigation. At this time, all individuals involved in the incident are accounted for and there is no continuing danger to the community.

No further information will be released at this time.

Investigation revealed that two unknown race males entered the store and took money and items from behind the counter. One of the males was armed with an unknown caliber handgun and the other was carrying a 2 x 4.

The suspects were both wearing dark colored clothing.

No injuries were reported.

On 05/06/18 at approximately 2214 hours, officers from the Stetson Hills Division were dispatched to the 3500 block of Nonchalant Circle East reference a shooting. When officers arrived on scene they contacted the reporting party as well as numerous neighbors who reported hearing approximately four shots being fired from what was believed to be a handgun. None of the residents were able to provide any suspect or vehicle information. Officers located shell casings in the roadway however they did not located any damage to homes or vehicles in the area and there were no injuries.

UPDATE: As of 7:40PM all lanes of traffic are open.

On the above date and time Sand Creek Patrol Officers were dispatched to a traffic accident at the intersection of Fountain Blvd. and S Union Blvd. Upon arrival officers located a traffic accident between a motorcycle and a vehicle. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. At this time northbound S Union Blvd at Fountain Blvd is closed and traffic northbound on S Union Blvd is being diverted east onto Fountain Blvd. Eastbound Fountain Blvd at S Union Blvd. is closed and is being diverted southbound onto S. Union Blvd. Eastbound Fountain Blvd. traffic is closed at S Union Blvd and vehicles are being diverted onto side streets. An update will be released when the road is reopened.
