Update to ETACS 23617 and 23732

As reported in early December Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department Financial Crimes Unit discovered an identity theft laboratory in the 300 block of N Murray Boulevard. Kali Watson 26 and James McHenry 35 were originally named as suspects in the case.

Kali Watson was charged with 16 Felonies including Drug related offenses, ID Theft, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Possession, Forgery, Misdemeanor Child Abuse and Misdemeanor Theft. The District Attorney’s Office offered Ms. Watson a plea deal and on 05/09/17 she accepted the deal. Ms. Watson was sentenced to 6 years in the Department of Corrections with 3 years mandatory parole on completion.

James McHenry has been charged with 21 Felonies including ID Theft, Forgery and Criminal Possession ID Documents (multiple victims). Mr. McHenry remains in DOC on an unrelated case and is awaiting trial on this case.

During the course of the investigation an additional suspect was identified. Heather Deview (34) is charged with 23 Felonies including ID Theft, Burglary, Drug related offenses, Possession of a Financial Transaction Device, Cruelty to Animals (M) and a Petty Drug Offense. Ms. Deview is awaiting trial.

On 3/18/17, patrol officers responded to the Citadel Mall and arrested Breanna Barnett, and Aaron Dungy, shortly after the pair used victims’ credit cards they had stolen a few hours prior from a vehicle break-in at Palmer Park.

Patrol officers searched the suspects and Dungy’s vehicle, recovering numerous other IDs, SSN cards, and credit cards.

Financial Crimes Unit detectives assisted in following up on the leads generated by Patrol Officers and linked 4 additional vehicle burglaries to the duo.

On the above date and time officers of the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the intersection of E San Miguel St and Baylor Dr on a reported auto-pedestrian traffic crash. Investigation revealed the car was southbound on Baylor stopped at the stop sign at E San Miguel. The vehicle had stopped with its front end out into E San Miguel so it attempted to back up to clear the street for a vehicle traveling westbound on E San Miguel. When it backed up, the car struck a pedestrian who had walked out into the street behind the car. The pedestrian suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle was cited for Careless Driving Resulting in Injury.

2800 S. Circle Dr.

On Wednesday, 05-10-17, at approximately 0217 hours, officers from the Gold Hill Division were dispatched to the Circle K convenience store located in the 2800 block of S. Circle Dr. to investigate a report of a robbery. It was determined a black male wearing a dark colored jacket, light colored pants and a beanie had entered the store where he initially made a purchase, but then produced a knife and took cash as well as other items from the clerk. The suspect left the store on foot, but it is believed he entered a vehicle in the area and fled the scene.


There are no injuries to any victims and the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash. There is no additional suspect information at this time. No arrests have been made and this investigation is on-going. There was a similar robbery on 05-09-17 at approximately 2143 hours at the Diamond Shamrock located in the 1700 block of Jet Wing Dr. Any connection is being investigated, but is not confirmed at this time.

Officers were dispatched to a gas station in the 1700 block of Jet Wing Drive to investigate a robbery that just occurred. Investigation revealed that a lone suspect entered the business, brandished a knife and demanded cash from the clerk. The suspect then left the area with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6'4" tall with an average build.

800 N. 19th St.

On 05/08/17, Gold Hill officers were dispatched to the 800 block of N 19th St to investigate a motor vehicle theft with shots fired. Investigation revealed that an unknown suspect had entered a white Chevrolet pick-up truck and began travelling north bound on N. 19th St. The owner of the truck heard his truck being driven away and grabbed his handgun and fired 7-8 shots at the truck as it was driving away. The truck owner stated he aimed all of his shots at the tires of the truck and was confident he struck the wheels of the truck. Due to the fact the owner was not in any danger when the truck was driving away he was charged for illegal discharge of a firearm. Officers checked the area for the stolen vehicle but were unable to locate it.

On May 7, 2017, at 11:00AM, Patrol Officers responded to the La Cresta Mobile Estates, at 205 North Murray Boulevard, in reference to a missing at-risk adult.

Detectives in the Violent Crimes Section responded to assist. The investigation revealed that a 78-year-old male, Mr. Myron Armbrust, with advancing Alzheimer’s or dementia walked away from his residence inside this complex. Mr. Armbrust is hearing impaired.

There are currently no signs of foul play. The Colorado Springs Police Department considers this subject endangered and at-risk due to his medical history and recent concerns of depression.

On 5/6/2017 at approximately 2126 hours Falcon Division Officers were dispatched to Regal Cinemas, 1120 Interquest Pkwy, regarding an in-progress assault. Investigation revealed 37 year-old Tomasz Sobolewski was asked to leave the theater by security staff. As Mr. Sobolewski walked to his car a security guard followed in order to obtain the vehicles information. Mr. Sobolewski threatened to run the security guard over if he kept following. Once Mr. Sobolewski was in his car he put it in reverse and drove at the security guard and struck him. The security guard was able to retreat behind parked cars as Mr. Sobolewski continued to drive at him. Mr. Sobolewski rammed his car into a parked car which was then pushed into another parked car, all in an effort to drive at the security guard. Security guards were eventually able to detain Mr. Sobolewski until officers arrived. Mr. Solobewski was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and will be transported to CJC for multiple felony charges including Attempted First Degree Murder.

On 05/06/17 at approximately 1850 hours, CSPD Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Half Turn Road reference a shots fired call for service. The investigation showed that a subject was shot at, but not injured. The suspect fled on foot prior to the officers’ arrival. Officers developed information that led to an arrest warrant being obtained for 38 YO Freddie Edwards for Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender. The suspect has not been located at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
