On Monday, 12-05-2016, at 10:19AM, officers of the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 3600 block of Galley Road to investigate a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival patrol officers determined an adult female had arrived outside an apartment, brandished a handgun and fired it. As that occurred the female's husband came out of the apartment, brandished a firearm, began firing it, and threatened an uninvolved civilian.

The male and female fled the scene in different directions.

Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Section responded and assumed the investigation. The involved persons were subsequently identified as Carissa Tindal and James Tindal. Felony warrants were issued for their arrest.

On 12-07-2016, Sand Creek Division patrol officers located Carissa Tindal and James Tindal and arrested them on the outstanding warrants.

James Tindal is currently in custody at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on Attempted First Degree Assault and Felony Menacing charges.

On December 7, 2016, the Colorado Springs Police Department identified a pattern of attempted burglaries occurring at residences and apartments in and around the 5000 block of Centennial Boulevard in Colorado Springs. Since October 11, 2016, several calls have been received from citizens reporting an unknown male attempting to gain entry into their residences through the front door while the citizens were in their homes.

Calls for service have been received from apartments in and around the 5200 block of Brodie Grove, 5200 block of Zachary Grove, 4500 block of Spring Canyon Heights, and at a residence in the 5400 block of Flag Way.

The suspect in these incidents is described as a possible white male, 5’5” to 5’10”, average build, with dark shoulder-length hair in an unkempt state and an upper lip piercing.

On the above date and time, the Colorado Springs Police Dept. was notified of a stabbing in the 00 block of N. Cascade Ave. The investigation revealed that the victim and suspect had been in a verbal argument that escalated. The suspect then stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso and legs. The suspect fled the scene westbound a short time later. The victim was transported to the hospital where they underwent surgery. The victim is in stable condition at this time. The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s with a strawberry blonde beard, a dark colored ear ring in his left ear, a gray colored hooded sweatshirt with a green lining in the hood, and silver colored shoes. He is believed to be a transient who frequents the downtown area. The investigation is ongoing.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of December 7, 2016 at 3:35 PM due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange their information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. When damage to any vehicle requires a wrecker, a counter report can still be made providing the previous criteria is met. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at Springsgov.com, go to the CSPD homepage and select “report a minor traffic accident” for instructions. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them. Drivers should use streets and roadways less hazardous in winter driving conditions. Drivers also need to remove snow and ice obstructing their vision and have adequate snow tires on their vehicles.

7200 block of N. Powers
Location
On the above date and time the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a traffic accident in the 7200 block of N. Powers Blvd. Responding officers found that 84 year old Frederick Harris of Colorado Springs was driving southbound on Powers Blvd. when he struck another southbound vehicle which was stopped in the lane of traffic due to traffic congestion. Mr. Harris suffered serious injuries as a result of this accident and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The passenger in his vehicle suffered injuries and was transported to an area hospital, as well.

On December 5, 2016 the Major Accident Unit was notified that Mr. Harris succumbed to the injuries he received during this accident. An autopsy conducted by the El Paso County Coroner's Office revealed he died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Mr. Harris is the 32nd traffic related fatality in Colorado Springs this year. There were 29 traffic related fatalities in 2015 in Colorado Springs.

At 11:45 AM; Stetson Hills Officers were dispatched to A Village Pharmacy, 3277 W Carefree Cr., regarding a reported robbery with a weapon. The initial information received was that the suspect, who was armed with a firearm, entered the store and demanded drugs. The suspect was described as a male, 20-40 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. After the robbery the suspect fled in an unknown direction with an unknown amount of prescription medications. A search of the area was conducted and a K-9 sweep was completed but the suspect was not located.

The Robbery Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

On 09/06/2016 Colorado Spring Police Department received a report of mail theft where the victim’s check had been stolen from the mail, altered and cashed by an unknown party.

During a subsequent investigation by the Financial Crimes Unit 35 year old James McHenry and 26 year old Kali Watson were identified as suspects in the case.

On 12/01/2016, McHenry was sentenced to 4 years DOC on an unrelated Identity Theft and Forgery case.

That same afternoon Financial Crimes Investigators contacted Watson in the 300 block of N. Murray Blvd, she was arrested on an outstanding unrelated warrant regarding Forgery and Narcotics. At that time probable cause was established and a search warrant was obtained for her apartment.

During a subsequent search, Investigators discovered a quantity of illegal narcotics and an Identity Theft laboratory with the number of victims estimated to be in excess of one hundred.

Charges are pending.

CSPD is searching for a Dark Grey, 2008 Ford Escape, CO License 413XPW. The vehicle has damage to the front end and windshield. It is the suspect vehicle in this Fatal Hit and Run Crash last night at Academy/Marion. It was last seen in the 1000 block of Alexander Rd. at about 0300.

As of 1:15 AM all lanes of Academy Bl. are open.

The Major Accident Unit responded to this incident and assumed the investigation into this matter. Investigation revealed a pedestrian attempted to cross the southbound lanes of N. Academy Bl. at the intersection with Marion Dr. when the pedestrian was struck and killed by a dark colored SUV. This SUV then fled the scene. Based on evidence located at the scene, it is believed the SUV suffered front end damage.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This is the 31st traffic related fatality in Colorado Springs this year. There were 29 traffic related fatalities in the city last year.

The Colorado Springs Police Department encourages anyone with information concerning the identity and location of the SUV and its driver to please call 444-7000 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 634-STOP.

On the above date and time the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call of an auto-pedestrian traffic crash on N Academy Bl in the area of Galley Rd. Upon first responders arriving on scene, it was determined the pedestrian was deceased. N Academy Bl is currently shut down southbound at E San Miguel St. Traffic is being diverted onto San Miguel at this time. The investigation is continuing and an updated entry will be made when N Academy Bl is re-opened to through traffic.

On 12-4-2016 at 0557hrs Officers from the Falcon Division midnight shift were dispatched to 3725 Interpark Drive to investigate a burglar alarm. Upon arrival they found a suspect fleeing the area and evidence that he made illegal entry into the business. The suspect refused to comply with commands and was able to briefly evade officers by sliding down an embankment into a creek drainage. Officers pursued the suspect into the drainage and tased him. He was taken into custody without further event. Evidence was found that the suspect made illegal entry into the business through an unlocked front door. Canine responded and cleared the building and no one else was found inside. It was found that the suspect did not commit any crimes inside the business and he was served and released for numerous charges to include trespassing and obstruction.
