On Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015, several 911 calls were received indicating that a subject, Martin Martinez, Age 40, was threatening to kill people and was armed with a gun. Additional information revealed that the subject had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. With the assistance of a K-9 unit and the Falcon Impact Team, the subject was later contacted on a felony stop and arrested without incident.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking for your help in locating a missing and endangered child. Fourteen year old Anthony Wheeler lives in the area of Constitution and Oro Blanco on the city’s east side and he is currently listed as a runaway. Anthony is 5’ 1” and weighs right around one hundred pounds. He is of Hawaiian and or of Pacific Island descent. He had a dark facial complexion and was last seen today at 3:00 PM. A motel located in the 1700 block of Aeroplaza Dr was robbed by a black female approximately 5`02 medium build with light brown hair wearing blue shorts and a grey shirt. The female jumped over the counter pushing the clerk out of the way and then took an unknown amount of cash from the register. A K9 track was attempted but it is believed the female got into a vehicle after fleeing on foot from the business.

All lanes of traffic were opened at approximately 6:15 AM. Detectives from the Major Accident Unit are continuing their investigation.

Sand Creek Officers are on scene of a serious injury traffic crash near the intersection of S. Academy Blvd and Milton E. Proby Pkwy.

Traffic in the area is being diverted while the accident is being investigated.

Northbound traffic on S. Academy Blvd is being diverted to eastbound Milton E. Proby Pkwy. Southbound traffic on S. Academy Blvd is also being diverted on to eastbound Milton E. Proby Pkwy.

At this time, the major accident unit is responding to assist in the investigation. It is unknown how long traffic will be diverted, but drivers coming into this area are asked to plan ahead and take a different route of travel.

On Monday August 31st, 2015 approx. 12:51AM, Officers of the Colorado Springs Police Dept. Falcon Div. responded to Memorial North Hospital regarding a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female had been shot in her lower extremities. She and her husband were riding her husband’s motorcycle through Garden of the Gods Park at approx. 11:00PM Sunday night. They passed another motorists going through the park. The unknown motorists began following the victim. At some point, she felt a burning sensation on her back. When the victim and her husband arrived home from their ride, he checked her back and discovered wounds consistent with being shot. The husband then drove his wife to the hospital. The victim did not sustain life threatening injuries. The suspect is not known to the victim or her husband. They were both unable to give definite suspect descriptions due to the darkness. On 08/30/2015 at approximately 10:29 PM Officers of the Gold Hill Division responded to the 4U Motel located at 1102 South Nevada Ave in regards to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival they discovered an adult male victim who had been struck on the head with a hammer. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment and is expected to survive his injuries.
Detectives from the Special Victims and Violent Crimes sections responded to assist and the investigation led to the arrest of:
Monica Cain, 45 Year Old Female of Colorado Springs.
Mrs. Cain, upon completion of her processing, will be booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on a charge of Assault in the First Degree / Domestic Violence Related – no further arrests are anticipated at this time.

1400 N. Academy Blvd

Officers responded to the area of Academy Blvd just south of Palmer Park Blvd with reference to a serious injury vehicle crash. A total of eight injured persons were transported to local hospitals from the two different cars. One of the drivers is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and an arrest is likely. Vehicle speed will also be listed as a factor and at least one passenger that was significantly injured was not wearing a seatbelt. Any persons that witnessed the crash or saw and can identify the make and or model of vehicles speeding in the area and in the southbound lanes of N. Academy Blvd at intersection with Constitution Ave, Palmer Park Blvd or San Miguel at approximately 10:43 PM are urged to call 719-444-7000. The investigation is on-going. Members of the Major Accident Unit responded to the scene and they are managing the case. Southbound traffic on Academy was effected for an extended amount of time as the crash was being investigated. ****UPDATE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**** As of 3:15 AM, it is anticipated that the southbound lanes of travel on Academy Blvd south of Palmer Park will be affected until after 4:00 AM. Additionally a total of five persons received significant injuries during the accident.****UPDATED INFORMATION****The southbound lanes of Academy are open as of 5:15AM. An adult male was arrested for vehicular assault.

Officers were dispatched to a private residence in the 3100 block of Dublin Blvd with reference to a suicidal person. The reporting person provided information to police that a family member at the location and was suffering from some sort of mental or medical episode and was in need of assistance. Officers responded to the location and telephonically contacted the occupant of the residence to simply check his welfare and provide mental or medical health services. Officers reached thirty one year old James Bell of Colorado Springs. While still inside of the residence; Mr. Bell said that he was suicidal and homicidal and was armed with multiple weapons and would shoot anyone who approached. At one point Mr. Bell willingly exited the residence but then refused to adhere to or follow the lawfully issued verbal commands of the officers. Bell was subdued and subsequently arrested for obstructing police officers. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple arrest related injuries and would later be booked into the Criminal Justice Center on misdemeanor obstruction charges.

On the above date and time, Colorado Springs Police Department officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to a business in the 3700 block of Verde Drive to a reported robbery with a weapon call for service.

Officers arrived within minutes and were unable to locate the suspect that left the business on foot. The investigation revealed that one suspect entered the store and contacted an employee at the cash register. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. The employee said that there was no cash and the suspect immediately ran out of the store empty handed. The suspect was armed with a handgun. There were no shots fired and no injuries reported.

The suspect was described as an approximately 30 year old Hispanic male, approximately 5-07, 160 pounds wearing a blue and white shirt with tan shorts.
