FYIOutdoor storage of flammable gases in amounts exceeding the maximum allowable quantity per control area indicated in Table 2703.1.1(3) shall be in accordance with Sections 2701, 2703 and 2704, and this chapter. 3504.2.1 Distance limitation to exposures. Outdoor storage or use of flammable compressed gases shall be located from a lot line, public street, public alley, public way or building not associated with the manufacture or distribution of such gases in accordance with Table 3504.2.1. Outdoor storage or use of flammable compressed gases shall be located from a lot line, public street, public alley or public way in accordance with Table 3504.2.1, except that Note a of Table 3504.2.1 shall not apply to areas sheltered by weather protection.
FYISCOPE OF WORK SEE ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS DECOMMISSIONING EXISTING 3000 GAL LIQ HYDROGEN AST AND REPLACING WITH 1500 GAL LIQ HYDROGEN TANK. CHANGE OF VENDORS SUPPLYING HYDROGEN. DURING THIS TRANSITION, BUSINESS REQUIRES SUPPLY OF HYDROGEN SO TUBE TRAILER OF HYDROGEN GAS IS BEING TEMPORARILY INSTALLED ON SITE. DURATION ANTICIPATED 30-45 DAYS. THIS TUBE TRAILER 4 CYLINDERS/TUBES = TOTAL 125,842 scf
FYITUBE TRAILER. A semitrailer on which a number of tubular gas cylinders have been mounted. A manifold is typically provided that connects the cylinder valves enabling gas to be discharged from one or more tubes or cylinders through a piping and control system. 3003.7.11 Tube trailers. Tube trailers, including those containing compatible compressed gases, shall be sur-rounded by a clear space of not less than 3 feet (914 mm) to allow for maintenance, access and inspection. 3003.7.11.1 Individual tube trailers containing incom-patible materials. Increased separation distances be-tween individual tube trailers containing incompatible gases shall be provided when required by Section 3003.7.1. 3003.7.11.2 Connections. Piping systems used to connect tube trailers to a user piping system shall not be viewed as an encroachment into the 3-foot (914 mm) clear space. An assembly of equipment, consisting of, but not limited to, storage containers, pressure regulators, pressure relief devices, vaporizers, manifolds and piping, with a storage capacity of more than 400 ft3 (scf) (11 m3) of compressed hydrogen gas, including unconnected reserves integral to the system. The bulk system terminates at the point where the gas supply, at service pressure, first enters the supply line. The containers are either stationary or portable, and the gas is stored as a compressed gas.

The minimum required distances shall not apply when fire barriers without openings or penetrations having a minimum fire-resistance rating of 2 hours interrupt the line of sight between the storage and the exposure. The configuration of the fire barrier shall be designed to allow natural ventilation to prevent the accumulation of hazardous gas concentrations. ** This area has an existing brick wall fire barrier near the North and East of the existing liquid H2 foundation/tank and property lines. SEE DIAGRAM. The trailer will extend 4 ft passed the end of the the fire barrier wall on the EAST property line which is 27 feet. (per NFPA property line should be 46 ft.)
FYICompressed gas systems conveying flammable gases shall be provided with approved manual or automatic emergency shutoff valves that can be activated at each point of use and at each source. Shutoff at source. A manual or automatic fail-safe emergency shutoff valve shall be installed on supply piping at the cylinder or bulk source. Manual or automatic cylinder valves are allowed to be used as the required emergency shutoff valve when the source of supply is limited to unmanifolded cylinder sources. Shutoff at point of use. A manual or automatic emer-gency shutoff valve shall be installed on the supply piping at the point of use or at a point where the equipment using the gas is connected to the supply system. Ignition source control. Ignition sources in areas containing flammable gases in storage or in use shall be controlled in accordance with Section 2703.7. Static-producing equipment. Static-producing equipment located in flammable gas storage areas shall be grounded. "No Smoking" signs shall be posted at entrances to rooms and in areas containing flammable gases in accordance with Section 2703.7.1. Electrical. Electrical wiring and equipment shall be installed and maintained in accordance with Section 605 and NFPA 70. Bonding of electrically conductive materials and equipment. Exposed noncurrent-carrying metal parts, including metal gas piping systems, that are part of flammable gas supply systems located in a hazardous (electrically classified) location shall be bonded to a grounded conductor in accordance with the provisions of NFPA 70. Static-producing equipment located in flammable gas storage or use areas shall be grounded.
FYINFPA 55 Chapter 10 CHAPTER 10 Bulk Hydrogen Compressed Gas System shall apply Mobile hydrogen supply units shall be electrically bonded to the storage system before hydrogen is discharged from the supply unit. ***** Electrical wiring and equipments shall be in accordance with Table 10.3.1.2 Storage equipment excluding the piping systems downstream of the source valve = Class I, Div 2, Between 0 - 15 ft
FYIThe owner of a plant is responsible for al of the process piping downstream of the point where the gas enters into the piping at the service pressure. All Equipment upstream of this point will be responsibility of the gas supplier.
FYILabeling - An NFPA 704 compliant Hazard Placard is required for each pedestrian entry door rooms containing hazardous materials in excess of the exempt amounts (this door could be interior or exterior) and all such doors shall be included. The minimum size of the Hazard Placard shall be 15" by 15". This requirement is subject to verification at the time of the Hazardous materials Inspection prior to signing the Fire Final.
9/25/2013 DisapprovedDEFICIENT SUBMITTAL DISAPPROVED Submit separate cover tank installations for each installation. DO NOT COMBINEscope of work and documents. Provide project specific information. i.e. do not submit tube trailer diagram with 2 tubes when there is to be 4 on the trailer. "Representative" information is not acceptable. Document combines multiple scope of project. Disapprovedseveral telephone calls with Mr. Norman. Dessert Glass changed scope of work initial tube trailer, then portable cylinders and 3rd change back to tube trailer. temporrary Fax not legible for review. Must deliver, mail email legible detailed site diagrams spec sheets, tank specifications, piping and distribution system, scope of work, all per NFPA 55 and IFC 2009. No faxes can be sent. Will not be reviewed. Plan reviewer had not heard from AL Tues 9/24; plan reviewer contact AL left detail vm for information needed. 9/25/13 VM from Saad @ AL states that he has passed all information to Desert Glass customer. Plan reviewer tried to contact again AL but no answer. Plan reviewer contacted DG and disscussed with Mr Norman that they will need to work out details on how to get this information to CSFD. several phone calls to and from Desert Glass and Air Liquide. DISAPPROVED until receive a complete submittal application forms with complete support documents showing compliance with IFC 2009 and NFPA 55.
