East-West Mobility Study
The City of Colorado Springs completed an 18-month East-West Mobility study in 2002 to explore options for improving east-west travel. The study identified transportation issues and community interests and evaluated a full range of mobility options that will protect the integrity of neighborhoods and improve east-west travel.
The Colorado Springs East-West Mobility Study looked at east-west transportation issues within an area bounded by I-25 on the west, Woodmen Road on the north, Martin Luther King/US 24 Bypass on the south, and Powers Boulevard on the east. The study identified transportation issues and community interests, and evaluated a full range of mobility options to protect neighborhoods and improve east-west travel in the core area of Colorado Springs.

The East-West Mobility Study relied on public involvement to identify issues and assess various options regarding mobility and other community concerns. The Study used a community-based decision-making process to engage residents, businesses, property owners, and agencies in developing transportation options that will improve east-west mobility and protect the integrity of neighborhoods.

The East-West Study team reviewed hundreds of comments from various sources, including Open House meetings, questionnaires of Homeowner Association representatives, e-mail, and a telephone information and comment line.

On July 23, 2002 Colorado Springs City Council passed Ordinance No. 02-120, accepting the East-West Mobility Study and amending the Intermodal Transportation Plan to incorporate the study recommendations.  To read the Study recommendations, download the document below.
