Victim: Carolyn O'Kelley Russell

Case Description

The Victim: Carolyn June O'Kelley Russell, 29 years of age, nicknamed Dodee by her family. Was found murdered on April 14, 1988. O'Kelley is survived by her children, parents and five brother and sisters.  She was born in Japan and had lived at various locations around the world. 

The Crime: On the evening of April 14, 1988 the Colorado Spring Police Department was called to the Circle S Motel located at 1639 S. Nevada Ave.  The manager became concerned about the resident in room #26.  Upon checking the room he found O?Kelley on the floor deceased. 

The Investigation: Investigation into her death revealed that she had died of multiple stab wounds inflected by an unknown assailant.  O?Kelley had been dead 24 to 48 hours prior to the discovery of her body.  A knife was discovered next to her body. The investigation into her death remains open. 

The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
