Capital Improvement Program
The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is another way that federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are improving and preserving our community.
Funds are used to make infrastructure improvements in residential areas. Improvements must be located in census tracts with a 51% or more low- and moderate-income population (see census tract map) or must remove barriers to mobility or accessibility for the elderly or disabled.
Residents within each neighborhood are encouraged to participate in the process of identifying and setting priorities for specific projects to be undertaken. This process includes working very closely with active neighborhood organizations, holding public meetings, reviewing existing master plans and neighborhood preservation plans replacement.
Projects undertaken include the replacement or installation of:
- Sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
- Street Paving
- Park and Trail Development
- Pedestrian Ramps
- Pedestrian Crossing Signals
- Street Lighting
- Other Infrastructure Improvements
