Collections

The CSPM builds a lasting connection to the Pikes Peak Region
by preserving and sharing our cultural history.

What is in the collections?  The Collections Database contains the basic cataloging information about the items in the Museum's collection.  Searches can be conducted based on donor's name, type of object, description, and other criteria.  To search the Collections Database, click here.

Research:  Are you interested in conducting research at the Museum?  There are two collections that may be of use.  The Archival Collection contains manuscripts, records, photographs, ephemera, and other paper records.  This collection is useful for historical, biographical, and geneological research.  The Artifact Collection consists of 3-dimensional objects and is useful for material culture research.

Photographs of Artifacts and Materials: The Museum will arrange for a professional photographer who meets our standards of care and handling as well as photographic quality to take photographs of artifacts or archival material that can be photographed at a rate of $300 per hour.  Researchers will not be allowed to photograph artifacts or hire their own photographers.

Archival Research:  To learn more about the Archival Collections and how to conduct research at the Starsmore Center for Local History, which contains photographs, paper records, etc. click here.

Curatorial Research:  Information about research asssitance and access to the artifact collection (not archival -- photographs are in the archival collection) not on exhibit can be found herePLEASE NOTE: A mandatory care and handling training session is required for those whose research requires direct access to the collection; this will not count against your free research time limit.

Donations:  If you are interested in donating artifacts or archival material to the Museum, please click here for important information.
