City of Colorado Springs / Fire / Fire Stations / Fire Station 8

Fire Station 8--3737 Airport Rd

Fire Station 8
Fire Station 8

The original Station 8 opened on October 21, 1966, at the northeast corner of Chelton and Airport. Rapid growth in the area dictated addition of paramedics in 1981, and an aerial company in 1985.

Due to health and safety concerns, a new Station 8 was built not far from the existing building. The new station opened on January 14, 2008, and is located at 3737 Airport Road. The District 2 Chief is now located here. Squad 108 is attached to Station 8, but is housed at the Fire Department Complex a short distance to the west. The new station also has a community room.
