Amarillo Texas armored car theft arrests

On December 23, 2014, at approximately 8:00PM the Colorado Springs Police Department received a request from the Amarillo Police Department regarding an abandon armored car and its missing driver.  Robbery detectives worked closely with detectives from Amarillo PD to follow up on rapidly developing leads. Through their diligent efforts, the driver was located at a hotel in the 2800 block of South Circle Drive, Colorado Springs. They were also able to identify an accomplice involved in the case. After setting up surveillance, the detectives were able to take the accomplice into custody without incident.  Information was gathered by the detectives who confirmed the location of the missing driver who was identified as Trent Cook. They also learned Mr. Cook might be heavily armed and uncooperative with police. Based on this information the departments Tactical Enforcement Unit was requested to assist with the arrest. Following a carefully orchestrated plan, the driver was contacted in a hotel room and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Colorado Springs Police Department Police Operations Center. He is currently being interviewed by detectives. Upon completion of the interviews, the driver and his accomplice will be booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on arrest warrants prepared by the Amarillo Police Department.
