Lane Closures expected on Austin Bluffs project
Monday, December 01, 2014

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Beginning, Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, and continuing throughout the workweek, crews will be pouring new concrete on the Austin Bluffs Parkway at Cottonwood Creek project. These improvements to the bridge deck, curbs and pedestrian walkways will require a right lane closure on Woodmen Road westbound at Austin Bluffs Parkway, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Signage and flaggers will be on site to assist travelers, but delays may occur.

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, lane closures will be expanded to the intersection of Woodmen Road and Austin Bluffs Parkway, as crews conduct utility work in anticipation of traffic signal installation. Lane closures for this portion of the project will occur intermittently from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM for approximately two weeks. Flaggers and signage will assist travelers in navigation through the construction.

Motorists are advised to use Powers Blvd. or Rangewood Drive in lieu of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Research Parkway in lieu of Woodmen Road to avoid possible traffic delays.

The goal of this project, which is currently ahead of schedule for completion, is to design and widen the existing Austin Bluffs Bridge over Cottonwood Creek (approximately 250 feet north of Woodmen Road) in order to enhance the north/south connectivity between residential and commercial activity centers.  Wildcat Construction of Colorado Springs was awarded the construction contract. Design services were awarded to Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers and Architects in July 2012.
