Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial Dedication

Colorado Springs, CO – Please join the City of Colorado Springs for the Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial Dedication at Mountain Shadows Park.The dedication will begin at 11 a.m. at the recently-completed new playground at the park, then commence along a portion of the hiking trail to be named in honor of Bill and Barbara Everett who were avid hikers and lost their lives in the fire and end at the permanent Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial located in another portion of the park.

Mayor Steve Bachwill open the ceremony which will include remarks from:

  • Matt Mayberry, Colorado Springs Cultural Services Director
  • Eddie Hurt, Mountain Shadows Community Association
  • Bob Cutter, President of Colorado Springs Together
  • Nora Gledich, Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial Chairperson
  • Steve Weed and Laurie Wilson, sponsors of the memorial  
  • Artist Eileen Gay
