Thursday, November 06, 2014

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Mountain Metropolitan Transit won two first place AdWheel Awards at the 2014 American Public Transportation Awards Expo in Houston, Texas in October. AdWheel Awards are presented each year to transit agencies that exhibit excellence in marketing and communication. Awards are given in five main media categories: print, electronic, campaigns, social media, and special events.

Mountain Metro’s communications team won first place in the social media category for their Twitter presence (@MountainMetro) and first place in the print category for their Summer Haul Pass promotional poster. Mountain Metro competed against similar-sized transit systems across the country. “Winning an APTA Award is an honor that acknowledges you are the best of the best,” said Craig Blewitt, director of Mountain Metro Transit. “Award recipients are leaders and trendsetters, and have a significant impact on improving the public transportation industry.”

Mountain Metropolitan Transit provides local fixed-route bus service and Mountain Metro Mobility ADA Paratransit service for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped. Mountain Metropolitan Transit also provides other services such as Mountain Metro Rides’ ridesharing, vanpool, and bicycling programs. For added convenience, there are bike racks on all buses for riders who want to utilize the bike-n-bus program.
