COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The seasonal Manitou Springs Free Summer Shuttle had a record season this year, more than quadrupling its ridership from 2013. Total ridership for this season hit 90,450 compared to 22,186 passengers in 2013. The shuttle began the 2014 season on May 18 and ran through September 13.

This year’s improvements included adding an additional bus to increase frequencies to 10 minutes during peak times and creating a new route to service the east-end motels and businesses, the pool, and Fields Park.

Mountain Metropolitan Transit provides local fixed-route bus service and Mountain Metro Mobility ADA Paratransit service for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped. Mountain Metropolitan Transit also provides other services such as Mountain Metro Rides’ ridesharing, vanpool, and bicycling programs. For added convenience, there are bike racks on all buses for riders who want to utilize the bike-n-bus program.
