National Express Transit Corporation Wins ADA Paratransit Contract

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT), the Transit Division of the City of Colorado Springs, will contract with National Express Transit Corporation for the Pikes Peak region’s paratransit service beginning January 1, 2014. The Mountain Metro Mobility paratransit service, expected to provide 157,000 rides in 2014, complements the regional fixed-route bus service by providing transportation for persons with disabilities.
National Express emphasizes proactive solutions and operational efficiency for the community’s paratransit operation with a very successful track record across the country. Express was awarded the contract by a committee comprised of five evaluators from the Transit Division and one member of the local paratransit community.
“We look forward to a great relationship with National. We believe strongly that they will provide the highest level of customer service and cost effectiveness for our community,” said Craig Blewitt, Mountain Metropolitan Transit Division Manager.

Mountain Metropolitan Transit provides local fixed-route bus service and ADA paratransit service for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped. Mountain Metropolitan Transit also provides other services such as Metro Rides’ ridesharing, vanpool, and bicycling programs. For added convenience, there are bike racks on all buses for riders who want to utilize the bike-n-busprogram.
