Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative

On Saturday, October 26, 2013, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is coordinating a one-day collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies to conduct a Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative.  This is a statewide event and will provide an opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement for destruction. 

 

The event will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is responsible for securing the collected drugs until the DEA has recovered them. 

 

Tablets, capsules, liquids {not chemotherapy medication} and all other solid dosage units will be collected.

 

Items which CANNOT be accepted are: Needles & Sharps, Mercury {thermometers}, Oxygen containers, Chemotherapy/Radioactive substances, Pressurized canisters or Illicit Drugs.

Attorney General John Suthers will be at the POC site from 11:00 – 11:30am for any interviews.  You do not need to call for an interview.
