About the City Auditorium: Jointly designed by three prominent local architects and constructed in 1922-23 at a cost of just over $424,000, this landmark was a wonderful example of local architecture. The auditorium was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and continues to be a true community venue, hosting a wide variety of events including concerts, trade shows, graduations and athletic competitions.
In 2004, the nonprofit Friends of the Historic City Auditorium was formed to support the use and maintenance of the historic site as well as preserve the historic significance of the building. The group also raises funds and volunteers time toward repairs and renovations of the facility.
