City Green Team "green" bag lunch-n-learn Thursday Feb. 25, 2010

Recycling - Beyond the Basics

Learn what's new in the world of Colorado Springs recycling! The City of Colorado Springs? Green Team will host a "green bag lunch-n-learn" on Thursday, Feb. 25 over the noon lunch hour, from 12:11 to 12: 49 p.m., at the City Administration Building, 30 S. Nevada, in Suite 102.

  • City Sustainability Coordinator Carrie McCausland will share what's new with the City's new Waste Management waste and recycling contract, City employee survey results, the "Art of Recycling" adopt-a-bin recycling program results and the City's next steps. This is also a chance for businesses or other organizations to see how they too can incorporate recycling with minimal cost.
  • Waste Connections Sales Coordinator Ashley Mays will share a new program that measures residential recycling and then rewards residents for their efforts  - the more you recycle the more you earn in benefits to local businesses.
  • Everyone knows what can and can't be recycled... right? Maybe not. We'll go over some of the surprising and less common items that you may, or may not, be recycling correctly.
  • This is also one of many opportunities to provide your feedback regarding the City Environmental Sustainability Plan currently under way.

Attendees are encouraged to bring and enjoy their lunches during the presentation. Those who attend have the opportunity to win a door prize tote bag made from recycled downtown banners as a demonstration project.
