fires station 21

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Fire Department is pleased to announce we will be breaking ground for Fire Station #21 on July 23, 2012 at the north east corner of Dublin Rd. and Peterson Blvd. This will be the first fire station ground-breaking in five years. The last ground-breaking was when Fire Station #8 was relocated to a new station to serve the busiest area of town. Fire Station #21 is expected to open in the second quarter of 2013. This station will bring a much needed presence for fire and EMS protection to this area with an expected 500 calls for service in the first year of operation.

Designed by the Fennell Group, Fire Station #21 is a retro design harking back to the "old firehouse" while simultaneously incorporating the latest in functionality and energy efficiency. The building is a LEED project – Leading in Energy Efficient Design, and it is the City's first attempt at constructing a LEED fire station. It is also the first building to be designed as a LEED platinum building – the highest level of LEED certification.

Media is invited to attend this exciting event. Many of our City's leaders and distinguished guests will be in attendance.
