Following is a summary of the proposed service changes, for a more detailed explanation please visit - Service Changes.

New Route 23 - Tutt Blvd. via Powers Blvd.

It is proposed to add bus Route 23 - Tutt Blvd. via Powers Blvd., for service to the Powers corridor. Route 23 would be a local express route that would originate at the Citadel Mall Transfer Center with service to Barnes Rd. and Tutt Blvd. This service would run every 60 minutes from 6:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.

New Route 34 - Garden of the Gods Rd. to Austin Bluffs Pkwy.

It is proposed to split existing Route 14 into two routes: Route 14, which will originate at the Downtown Terminal and end at Citizens Service Center on Garden of the Gods Rd.; and Route 34, which will originate at Citizens Service Center and end at Austin Bluffs Pkwy./Oro Blanco Dr. Route 34 would run on weekdays and would include Saturday service from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., whereas Route 14 will run on weekdays only.

Sunday & Holiday Service on Key Routes

It is proposed to add limited Sunday and holiday service on key routes. The

added service would be in effect Sundays as well as Memorial Day, Easter Sunday, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. This change would affect the following routes:

#1: Hillside-Hancock Plaza

#3: Colorado Avenue

#5: Boulder Street

#7: Pikes Peak Ave. - Citadel

#9: South portion only (Proposed Rt. 9B) - Downtown Transfer Station to UCCS

#11: World Arena - Pikes Peak Community College

#25: Academy Blvd.

Evening Service for Route 9

It is proposed to add evening service on Route 9 to offer more options to large clusters of employees in that area. Hourly service would be added so that the final southbound departure from Woodmen Rd./Corporate Dr. would leave at 8:26 p.m. and arrive at the Downtown Terminal at 9:05 p.m. to allow time for final connections on outbound evening routes.

Route 9 - Cascade Ave. to North Nevada Ave.

It is proposed that Route 9 be split into routes 9A and 9B to distinguish between its currently alternating destinations. This change would help riders identify the appropriate bus given their desired destinations.

Route 14 - Chestnut St - Garden of the Gods Rd.

It is proposed to make several changes to Route 14.

They are as follows:

  • Splitting Route 14 into two routes: Route 14 and Route 34. See preceding section titled “New Route 34”
  • Minor route change on Route 14 traveling north from Downtown Terminal to Citizens Service Center.
  • Deletion of existing Route 14 Saturday service with a substitute of Saturday service for new Route 34.

Zone-Based Fare Structure for Vanpool

It is proposed that Mountain Metropolitan Transit would change the Metro Rides vanpool fare structure to a zone-based fare. A zone-based fare system would help ensure a more consistent invoicing process. Pricing would be based on the zone that vans travel in rather than the number of passengers.

Mountain Metropolitan Transit provides local fixed-route bus service and Metro Mobility ADA paratransit service for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped. Mountain Metropolitan Transit also provides other services such as Metro Rides’ ridesharing, vanpool, and bicycling programs. For added convenience, there are bike racks on all buses for riders who want to utilize the bike-n-busprogram. For additional information regarding Mountain Metropolitan Transit please visit, or call (719) 385-RIDE (7433).
