Welcome to Mountain Metropolitan Transit!

Nov. 3,2005 marked a momentous day for the Pikes Peak Region as Mountain Metropolitan Transit launched the new expanded, regional transit service, Mountain Metro. In addition to implementing the expanded services, the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado officially changed the name of the transit system from Springs Transit to Mountain Metropolitan Transit (Mountain Metro). The fixed-route is now known as Metro, the paratransit system as Metro Mobility and RIDEFINDERS as Metro Rides.

Details about the new transit features and services:

Sunday Service: 7:30 a.m. to 5:35 p.m. on select routes

Extended Saturday Service: 5:30 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.

New Buses: Seven new state-of-the-art buses have been added to the bus fleet.

Transfer Stations:

Nine transfer stations are located throughout the region:

  • Astrozon (Astrozon and Academy)
  • Austin Bluffs/Academy (Morning Sun and Academy)
  • Chapel Hills Mall (Near Sears)
  • Citadel Mall (Santa Rosa and Citadel Dr. W.)
  • Downtown (Kiowa and Nevada)
  • First and Main Town Center (Tutt Blvd.)
  • Fountain (Wal-Mart)
  • Pikes Peak Community College (S. Academy Blvd.)

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (Austin Bluffs and Meadow Lane)

Express Routes: Three express routes have been implemented to reduce travel times to and from key destination points, including Falcon to Downtown, Falcon to Garden of the Gods and Union Town Center to Downtown. Express routes have fewer stops, which allows them to arrive at their final destination faster than traditional transit routes.

Refurbished Downtown Terminal: The Downtown Terminal is currently undergoing renovations, including new carpet and paint, improved lighting, new information booth and restrooms.

As Metro continues to grow into a regional transit system, schedule changes will be adjusted as needed. Route schedules are available at the Downtown terminal and online. Please check back often for updates and schedule revisions.

Service improvements have been made possible through the City of Colorado Springs, the Federal Transit Administration and the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA), which was formed when voters in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls and El Paso County approved a 1 percent sales tax in November 2004 to address infrastructure and transportation needs in the region; 10 percent of these funds goes to transit.
