Traffic
Engineering Programs
| The
City's
Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the safe
and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the
public right-of-ways in Colorado Springs. This Division responds
to the complex and growing needs of the City's infrastructure
systems by planning, improving and maintaining traffic control
to ensure safety and efficiency. Traffic Engineering consists
of four sections: |

Traffic
Management is responsible for the investigation, evaluation
and design of the City's traffic control devices, such as roundabouts,
and oversees the School
Safety Program and issuance of traffic
control permits.
Traffic
Signal Construction and Maintenance is responsible for signalized
intersection, pedestrian signals and school flashers in the City
of Colorado Springs.
Traffic
Operations is responsible for traffic signal timing, traffic
signal coordination and the Intelligent Transportation System
and oversees the City's
traffic cameras.
Signs
and Markings is responsible for the installation and maintenance
of traffic signs and markings, such as crosswalks and bike lanes,
on the City's roadways and oversees the Signs
for Life program.
