Dublin/Academy Intersection Improvements

Project Description: The Dubin Boulevard and Academy Boulevard intersection configuration doesn't meet current design standards and has been a high accident location. In 2004, the City applied for and received a competative, federally-funded Hazard Elimination and Safety grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation. Project design is almost done with right-of-way purchases still pending.

Benefits of the finished project will include improved safety for vehicles and pedestrians, better traffic flow, and reduced congestion. Click here to view the construction plan overview. Click here to watch a short video about this project.

Improvements:

  • Provide north and south dual left turns
  • Provide corner radius improvements on the southwest, southeast, and northeast corners of the intersection
  • New traffic signals
  • Sidewalk and pedestrian ramp upgrades
  • Provide a safer right-in/right-out driveway accesses for businesses on the southwest corner

Total estimated project cost: $675,000 paid by Hazard Elimination and Safety grant funds.

Estimated project schedule: Construction is expected to begin in early 2008 and be finished by summer 2008.
