Airport/Academy Intersection Improvements

Project Description: The Airport Road and Academy Boulevard intersection configuration didn't meet current design standards and had been a high accident location. In 2003, the City applied for and received a competative, federally-funded Hazard Elimination and Safety grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Benefits of the finished project include improved safety for vehicles and pedestrians, better traffic flow, and reduced congestion.

  • Upgrades to pedestrian ramps to meet ADA requirements

Total construction cost: $500,000 paid by Hazard Elimination and Safety grant funds

Project schedule: Construction began in May 2007 and finished in fall 2007.
