Bluffs Interchange at Union Boulevard project wins award
The
Colorado chapter of the American Public Works Association
has recognized the City of Colorado Springs and Pikes
Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) with the
2009 Streets and Traffic Engineering/Operations/Maintenance
award. The award recognizes the Austin
Bluffs Interchange at Union Boulevard project in the
large community category. Construction of a grade-separated
interchange bridging Austin Bluffs over Union was finished
on schedule and within budget in November 2008. The $35.8
million safety and congestion project is reducing accidents,
improving traffic flow, and enhancing the bicyclist and
pedestrian experience.
