On Tuesday, 02/21/2017, at approximately 10:57 PM, a call for service was received from the 2100 block of S. Corona Ave. regarding a shooting. It was reported a male party had been shot, and then run from that location to get help, and the suspect was possibly still at the original address. Upon officers’ arrival, they contacted the victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was able to direct officers to the location of the shooting and officers determined that location was a residence in the 1200 block of Bristol Ave. Multiple people from inside the residence were detained and it was ultimately discovered the suspect had run from the scene immediately after the shooting.
The victim, a 43-year-old male, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he is receiving on-going treatment for a gunshot wound to the abdomen. His is currently in stable condition and his injuries are not considered life threatening.
The suspect has been identified and charging documentation is being prepared. He has not been located and arrested as of this time. He is not considered a danger to the community at large.
Detectives from the Assault Unit were consulted during the course of this investigation.

2900 Block of Illinois Ave.
Location
The following information was released by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office regarding the above incident.
On Tuesday, February 21, at approximately 5:00 PM, officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a home in the 2900 block of Illinois Ave in search of a suspect wanted on felony domestic violence charges. Upon arrival, a person matching the description of the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle with officers in pursuit.
In the 2900 block of Templeton Gap, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot with officers in pursuit. The suspect forcibly entered a home in the 2800 block of Elm Meadow View, confronted the occupants with a gun in his hand, and stole their vehicle, fleeing the scene with officers in pursuit. CSPD officers forcibly stopped the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Circle Drive and Palmer Park Avenue and shots were fired.
The suspect was taken to Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries. The identity of the suspect will be released once the autopsy has been completed.
The officers were uninjured and have been placed on routine administrative leave in accordance with CSPD policy. There is no current threat to the community regarding this sequence of events.
As a result of Senate Bill 15-219, Concerning Measures to Provide Additional Transparency to Peace Officer-Involved Shootings, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) will be investigating the officer involved shooting. Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, provides the statutory requirements for these investigations.
This is an ongoing investigation and information will be released as the investigation allows. Once the El Paso County Sheriff's Office completes our investigation into the officer involved shooting, it will be given to the District Attorney’s Office for review. The District Attorney’s Office will then provide their report based on Senate Bill 15-219.

Any further information will be released by the El Paso County Sheriff's Public Information Office.

6000 Block of Del Rey Dr.

On 02/21/2017 at approximately 0525 Hours CSPD was notified of a motor vehicle theft which had just occurred from a residence in the 6000 block of Del Rey Dr. The reporting party stated his truck was stolen and he was following it at this time. The victim informed dispatch he pulled next to his truck and told the suspect to pull over. Shortly after the suspect fired a round from a handgun which had been in the truck’s glove compartment. The victim stopped following the truck after the shot was fired. At approximately 0550 Hours CSPD was notified of numerous vehicles and a trailer being struck by the stolen truck in the area of 4400 Misty Dr. Upon arrival the truck was located however the suspect and the gun were gone. The suspect is described as a B/M in his late teens or early 20’s wearing a black beanie style cap and a black hoodie with red lining. The truck was processed for evidence and returned to the owner/victim.

On Sunday, 02/19/2017, at 10:49pm, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call for service reference a robbery with a weapon at a business located in the 3400 block of North Academy Boulevard. A short time later another robbery occurred at another business in the 1400 block of North Academy Boulevard.

On Monday, 02/20/2017, Officer Mork located a vehicle associated with the robberies. Additional follow up identified two adult suspects involved in both robberies. They were taken into custody and charged for those crimes.

On 2/18/2017 at approximately 1:53 a.m. Officers were conducting a traffic accident investigation on N. Academy Bl. at Montebello Dr. where two fully marked CSPD cruisers, with their emergency lights activated, were used to protect the crash scene and alert on-coming motorists of the hazard. While the investigation was taking place, a white Nissan Sedan driven by Colorado Springs resident Andrew Wilker crashed into the rear of one of the unoccupied cruisers causing significant damage to both vehicles. Mr. Wilker was evaluated on scene and subsequently arrested for the suspicion of Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. No injuries to officers or citizens occurred as a result of the crash.

On 02/17/2017, at 8:42 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department received numerous calls regarding a shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of Lelaray St. Upon arrival officers located an adult female who had sustained a suspected gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The injury was determined to be non-life threatening. There is currently no direct threat to the community. The investigation is ongoing and information on suspect(s) is being developed.
