Location
Officers from the Stetson Hills Division responded to an automobile and pedestrian traffic accident at the intersection of North Academy Bl and Carefree Cr. North. The driver of the vehicle was making a left turn onto North Academy Bl from eastbound Carefree Cr. North when her car struck a male walking east to west in the crosswalk. The 41 year old male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male was wearing dark clothing. Alcohol, drugs and speed are not factors in this accident. At this time no charges have been filed pending continued investigation of the accident.

Information was received that a black male suspect had robbed the clerk of the store at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot prior to officerís arrival and was not located at the time of this entry. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

300 N. Tejon St.

On the above date and time the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of an automobile/pedestrian traffic accident in the 300 block of N. Tejon St.

Upon arrival it was determined a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle as the pedestrian was attempting to cross Tejon St. mid-block. The vehicle was backing up in preparation to park when the pedestrian was struck. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

The Major Accident Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation into this incident. At this time no charges have been filed. Neither speed nor alcohol/drugs are considered factors in this case.

The investigation is continuing.

1300 Block of Potter Dr
Location
On 03/28/17, officers responded to the 1300 block of Potter Drive to a reported stabbing call for service. Information received indicated that there was a physical altercation between two males at this location and that during the altercation, one of the males was stabbed in the upper portion of his body. Additional information received indicated that the suspect fled the area in a white SUV.

As officers arrived in the area, a white SUV occupied by a driver and several other passengers was observed leaving the area of 1300 Potter Drive. The vehicle was stopped and investigation revealed that one of the occupants, later identified as 26 year old Brandon Drakeford, was the suspect in the reported stabbing. Mr. Drakeford was taken into custody without incident for the charge of 2nd Degree Assault. The stabbing victim (an adult male) was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injury. Medical personnel determined that the injury was non-life threatening in nature.

On the above date and time, Officers of the Falcon Division were dispatched to an address in the 400 Block of Edgewood Drive in regards to a home invasion robbery. Upon arrival, Officers contacted the victim a 60 year old male who was wheelchair bound. The investigation concluded that two suspects who were unknown to the victim entered his house and removed property to include jewelry from the victimís person. The victim was not injured during the incident. The victim contacted a neighbor who contacted police for him. Investigation is continuing.

On the above date and time the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of an automobile/bicycle traffic accident at E. Yampa St. and N. Circle Dr.

Investigation revealed a bicyclist was riding westbound on Galley Rd. and attempted to cross the intersection with N. Circle Dr. onto E. Yampa St. against a red light. The bicyclist successfully avoided northbound vehicles but was subsequently struck by a southbound vehicle.

The bicyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The bicyclist was not wearing a protective helmet. The occupants of the automobile were not injured.

The Major Accident Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. At this time speed is not considered a factor in the collision; however, drugs and/or alcohol have not been ruled out.

The investigation is continuing.

Location
On the above date and time, the Colorado Springs Police Dept was notified by a citizen that they had located their stolen vehicle in front of a house in the 200 block of Longfellow Dr and that the suspect had gone into a house. Officers responded and made contact with several occupants of the house. A resident allowed officers to search the home for the suspect. While searching the house, officers located an unidentified male that appeared to be deceased. Officers then located the motor vehicle theft suspect and found he had barricaded himself in a downstairs room. The suspect refused to comply with officersí commands, so the Tactical Enforcement Unit responded to assist in taking him into custody. The Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the death investigation, which is ongoing at this time. All updates will come from the Office of the PIO.

5500 Block of Stetson Hills Blvd

On 03/27/17 at approximately 0051 hours, CSPD Officers responded to the 3600 block of Hazelwood Court in reference to a Carjacking and Robbery that had occurred in 5500 block of Stetson Hills Blvd. The victim was parked in the area when three black male suspects approached her vehicle, one of which was armed with a handgun. After a brief altercation, one of the suspects left in the victimís vehicle. The victim suffered minor injuries, but wasnít transported to any medical facilities. A CSPD officer later observed the victimís vehicle at a gas station in the area of Stetson Hills Blvd and Powers Blvd. A vehicle pursuit was initiated, but the vehicle was lost in the 5500 block of S. Carefree Circle. A search of the area was conducted, and the victimís vehicle was located unoccupied. It is unknown if an earlier carjacking is related to this investigation, which is ongoing.

On 03/26/17, at 10:50pm approximately, a car jacking robbery occurred in the 4400 block of Montebello Dr. The victim was driving a 2007 black Acura and was followed by a black sedan from Austin Bluffs and Academy to this location.
The victim stated that the suspect vehicle was following him too closely and as a result he got out of his car to confront the two male suspects. When he did the passenger of the suspect vehicle produced a gun and stole the victims car. The vehicle was last seen heading north bound on Academy blvd.

The Colorado Springs Socialists held a protest against imperialism at City Hall at 5 PM. At approximately 5:20 PM about a dozen protesters began marching in the downtown streets. They were given lawful orders several times to exit the lanes of traffic and refused. Six protesters were served and released for "pedestrians in the roadway" and "failure to disperse after a lawful order". The event ended peacefully at approximately 6:30 PM.
