On 8/28/17 at 8:17 PM Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department Falcon Division were dispatched to the Falcon substation in regards to a missing at risk juvenile. The juvenile became upset and was last seen near the area of Rampart High School / Rampart Park. The juvenile is Candalin Olson, WF, 505/thin, short blonde hair, last seen wearing a grey tank top, blue shorts, and was barefoot. An ENS message was sent at 11:51 PM containing the following message:

This is the Colorado Springs Police Department with a very important message. The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking for your assistance in locating a missing at risk juvenile. Her name is Candalin Olson, she is a white female, 505/thin, short blonde hair in a pixie cut, last seen wearing grey tank top, blue shorts and is barefoot. She was last seen around the area of Rampart high school and Rampart park around 1915 hours. If you see Candalin or have any information regarding her current whereabouts please call us at 444 7000.

On 08/28/17 Sand Creek officers were dispatched to the Citadel Mall for a reported bomb threat. A female voice called in and reported that there was a bomb in the front of the mall and hung up. Officers had a phone number for where the call was made and tracked the number to a pay phone located near the bathrooms in the food court area. No suspects were located near the pay phone. Police and Citadel Mall Security searched the the mall and no suspicious items were located.

3000 block of Sinton Road

On Monday, 08/28/2017, at approximately 0715 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Sinton Road, reference the recovery of a stolen utility trailer that had been found by the victim. Due to a large call for service volume the night before, the victim left the area to Longmont prior to Officer arrival on scene with the trailer. Upon the victim opening the trailer in Longmont, a large amount of property was observed that did not belong to the victim. Longmont Police responded and assisted in the recovery of the trailer. Colorado Springs Police Detectives recovered the trailer and will process the property for ownership. The suspect was identified based on follow-up in the 3000 block of Sinton Road. Patrol Officers prepared an arrest warrant for the suspect that is currently active. This was a great example of a multi-agency response to successfully solve a case. The suspect is identified as: Kenneth Charles Boyd, 37yo, WM 6'1 205 Black hair and hazel eyes. He may be driving a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, Colorado license plate 848EQK. If a citizen knows the location of the suspect or the suspect vehicle, please do not approach as the suspect is known to be armed. Please call 911 immediately for Police assistance.

On 08-28-17 at approximately 1311 hours officers from the Sand Creek Division and the Gold Hill Division responded to the 500 block of East Cucharras Street regarding a burglary in progress. Officers arrived on scene and set up containment on a trailer while verifying the suspect was still on scene. K-9 officers also responded to assist. After several minutes trying to convince the suspect to exit the trailer, the suspect exited the trailer and was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as Ryan Lackey (29),was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and subsequently transported to the Criminal Justice Center. It is ok to release the suspects photograph.

Gold Hill Division Officer Powers and Officer Spicuglia were dispatched to the 10 East Platte Avenue area on a reported assault in progress call. Upon arrival they contacted the suspect Robert Gill who was holding a stick. Officers attempted to place Mr. Gill into custody and he refused to comply with their commands. Officer Powers attempted to tase Mr. Gill but it was ineffective. Officers then attempted to physically restrain Mr. Gill, but he began actively fighting and assaulting both officers. During the struggle Officer Powers was bitten on the left hand and Officer Spicuglia was hit on the left side of the head. Mr. Gill was treated at Memorial Hospital and then transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer.

At approximately 1:00 PM, Officers from the Stetson Hills Subdivision responded to a three-car collision at the intersection of North Powers Blvd and Omaha Blvd. The investigation revealed the driver of the Silver Mazda made a left turn from Omaha Blvd in an effort to go southbound onto Powers Blvd. The Mazda was then struck by a Toyota 4runner, which in turn impacted a Silver Chevrolet. The silver Mazda came to a rest facing north in the southbound lanes. Both occupants of the silver Mazda were transported to area hospital and the driver is in critical condition. The passenger is in stable condition and is expected to be released from the hospital. The driver of the 4Runner sustained a broken fibula. Southbound Powers is now open.

South bound Powers at Palmer Park is currently shut down due to a multi vehicle traffic accident involving injuries. This information will be updated as more information is made available.

West Uintah Street and North 19th Street

On September 15, 2016, at approximately 7:30AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a hit and run traffic accident in the intersection of West Uintah Street and North 19th Street. Officers arrived on scene and found a 12 year old child was legally crossing the street in the crosswalk when the child was struck by a silver colored SUV. The SUV left the scene without providing any identifying information. The child was transported to an area hospital and treated for serious injuries.

Detectives with the Colorado Springs Police Departmentís Major Accident Unit responded to the scene and took responsibility for the investigation. Detectives were able to locate the vehicle involved in this incident. On March 13, 2017, the suspect in this case, 41 year old Jason C. Waite of Colorado Springs, was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on the charge of Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injuries, a Class 4 felony.
