Officers responded to a reported stabbing at 141 N. Spruce St. Officers found a victim who walked from America the Beautiful Park where he was assaulted by an unknown male with a knife. The victim sustained multiple but minor cuts to his hands, arms and back. The victim refused medical transport the hospital. Officers searched AB Park but did not locate or identify the suspect. Suspect described as a White Male, 5-10, 160, brown hair, wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans. It is believed the suspect is transient at this time. Investigation is continuing.

Location
On the above date and time officers of the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the 2000 block of S Academy Bl on a reported robbery with a weapon. The reporting party stated the male suspect had a knife and had fled in a vehicle on Academy Bl after robbing a liquor store clerk. Officers conducted follow up into the call and were able to locate the suspect vehicle at the registered owner’s address in the county. El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted CSPD officers in contacting the suspect in Security, where he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was later booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges including Robbery, domestic violence related Violation of a Protection Order, and traffic charges.

On 08/13/2015 CSPD Patrol Officers responded, reference a suspicious circumstance, to the YMCA located at 2380 Montebello Drive West. YMCA staff notified CSPD concerned that an older white male had entered the boys locker room, with his cell phone out, while boys sixteen years of age and younger were changing. It was determined the suspect was photographing boys; some nude or partially nude. Detectives from the Special Victims Section Crimes against Children’s Unit have taken over the investigation. CSPD, working with YMCA staff, are concerned that the suspect has been at the YMCA Montebello Drive West location five times over the last seven days. The public is encouraged to contact the Colorado Springs Police Communication Center with information related to this case. 15-32296

On 08-12-15 Gold Hill Impact Team Officers received information regarding the location of the stabbing suspect, identified by Impact Team Officers as Richard Payne (32). Gold Hill Impact Team Officers, with the assistance of the Sand Creek Impact Team, and Metro V.N.I., responded to a Motel located in the area of 2400 East Pikes Peak Avenue and within minutes, located the suspect and placed him into custody without further incident. Mr. Payne was taken into custody for Attempted First Degree Murder, as well as for an unrelated misdemeanor warrant. Mr. Payne was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. The Investigation continues.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of April 16, 2015 at 6:11PM due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at Springsgov.com and go to the CSPD homepage/Forms & Documents/Counter Reporting. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them.
