On 08/25/17, Officers from the Falcon Division were dispatched to area of 8100 Voyager Parkway to investigate an attempt to locate (Outside Agency Assist) tele-type message distributed by Park County law enforcement officials. The Park County case tele-type notice requested assistance in locating the suspect and his juvenile son. Officers were advised that the suspect was wanted for a violation of a protection order, possible probation violation. Officers made contact and a short foot pursuit ensued as the suspect and juvenile fled the area. They were located a short time later in a neighboring business and taken into custody without incident. Please contact Park County Sheriff for further information on their case.

On the above date and time, Gold Hill officers were dispatched to the 6500 block of S Academy Bl to respond to a robbery in progress. While enroute dispatched aired that a single suspect entered the business and pointed a weapon at the victim. The suspect immediately fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. While officers were out at that location, the same suspect attempted to rob a second business located in the 700 block of Cheyenne Meadows Rd. This business is about one mile north of the previous business. At this location the RP saw the suspect arrive and was able to lock himself in the office before the suspect could enter the business. At this location the suspect did not have contact with the victim and may have left the business with some cigarettes. At this time the suspect has not been located and the investigation is ongoing.

A juvenile male Robbed a second juvenile victim at Gun Point then fled in a stolen vehicle. Officers saw the stolen vehicle driving eastbound on Colorado Avenue a shot time later and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled without stopping and a TVI was attempted but was unsuccessful. Officers later discovered the vehicle in the Sand Creek Division and set up containment. The driver of the stolen vehicle and another juvenile were taken into custody after a foot chase. A second stolen vehicle was recovered as well. Both parties were transported to Spring Creek.

Location
Officers were dispatched to a Robbery with a weapon at Memorial Park. The victim walked by the suspect vehicle, believed to be a stolen 2016 white Ford Explorer, Colorado license plate YQJ-074. The suspects began a short casual conversation to draw the victim toward their vehicle. Then a passenger in the suspect vehicle brandished a handgun and demanded the victim's backpack. The suspect vehicle left the area and was later seen in the area of Prospect St and Cucharras St. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. Suspects are 5 white males, teenage to young adult. No further descriptions were available. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

On 08/23/2017 CSPD Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Sussex Ln. on a reported disturbance. The call screen indicated the victim was being attacked and had run from his house and began knocking on neighbors doors asking for help. When the first responding officer arrived on scene he was immediately and aggressively approached by the suspect. The officer attempted to verbally deescalate the suspect which failed. When the officer attempted to kick the suspect back to create distance the officer was attacked. After a brief struggle the suspect was subdued and taken into custody. The suspect was arrested for Assault in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree and Harassment. The Officer was able to return to duty.

On 08/22/17, at approximately 2:13 pm, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a train striking a pedestrian near the 1000 block of South Nevada Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, it was apparent the victimís left leg was amputated as a result. The 30 year old male victim was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. The investigation revealed that the victim had been laying on the track prior to being struck. Representatives from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BSNF) also responded to the scene to assist. The investigation is continuing.

The victim later died from his injuries and his identity is not being released at this time.

West Uintah Street and North 19th Street

March 23, 2017 {Release at Will}

On September 15, 2016, at approximately 7:30AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a hit and run traffic accident in the intersection of West Uintah Street and North 19th Street. Officers arrived on scene and found a 12 year old child was legally crossing the street in the crosswalk when the child was struck by a silver colored SUV. The SUV left the scene without providing any identifying information. The child was transported to an area hospital and treated for serious injuries.

Detectives with the Colorado Springs Police Departmentís Major Accident Unit responded to the scene and took responsibility for the investigation. Detectives were able to locate the vehicle involved in this incident. On March 13, 2017, the suspect in this case, 41 year old Jason C. Waite of Colorado Springs, was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on the charge of Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injuries, a Class 4 felony.
