Title
3510 Lenoso Terrace
Location

3650 N. Nevada Ave
Location
Officers were dispatched to a report of a shot being fired at the Expo Center at 3650 N. Nevada Ave. The center was holding a gun show/sale at the time. When officers arrived, they contacted the event organizers and a vendor at the show.

The investigation determined that the vendor was setting up his products when the shot was accidentally fired into the floor. The round shattered upon impact, resulting in no damage and no injuries. The vendor reported that they had been test firing the weapon earlier in the week, as it had been previously been returned to them as defective. After the test, they removed the magazine from the weapon, but forgot to empty the chamber of the weapon. The vendor reports that the shot went off when the back of the gun was bumped.

The property is owned by UCCS, and officers from the UCCS Police Department responded to the location as well. UCCS took the lead in the investigation, charging the vendor with Prohibited Use of a Weapon. The vendor was asked to leave the property by the event organizers.
