On Friday, 12-30-16 at approximately 2025 hours, a call for service was received regarding a stabbing at the Stone Ridge Apartments, 1800 Ralphs Ridge. On 12/29/2016 at approximately 1025 hours, officers with the Gold Hill division were dispatched to the Hobby Lobby store located at 525 South 8th st. in regards to a shoplift in progress. Officers arrived and came into contact with two female suspects. One suspect was detained and provided false information on her identity. Officers were informed by the suspect that prior to police contact the suspect ingested a baggie of unknown narcotics. The suspect was taken to the hospital for observation and treatment. While officers were at the hospital the suspects’ true identity was discovered and the suspect was found to have seven warrants for her arrest. In addition to the seven warrants the suspect will be charged with Identity Theft, Possession of a controlled substance, Forgery, Criminal possession of financial device, Theft, Drug paraphernalia, Criminal Impersonation and Attempt to Influence a public official. The suspect was admitted to the hospital for observation and identified as Lavena Ortiz. She is currently at Memorial Central in care unit #2, bed #3The following guard duty schedule is established.
December 29 GH Swings-15 scheduled (minimum 11) GH will assume guard duty until 0000 hrs.
December 30 GH Mids- 8 scheduled (minimum 7) GH Mids assumes guard duty at 0000hrs. GH Days- 12 scheduled (minimum 12) G4S will assume guard duty at 0700. On 12/28/16 at approximately 0055 hours, officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the business of Loaf N Jug located at 3705 Drennan Rd for a reported robbery. The suspect had left the business prior to officers arriving on scene. Officers were told the suspect entered the store, threatened the clerk with a bottle and demanded money. The clerk opened the cash register and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of currency and left. There were no reported injuries.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, mid to late 30s, with a heavy build. The suspect left in an older model gold sedan. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

On 12/27/2016 at approximately 7:50PM Gold Hill and Sand Creek officers were dispatched to 4143 Diamond Ridge View to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived they located a deceased male in the master bedroom, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Also in the house was the RP / estranged girlfriend of the decedent. Officers discovered the shooting took place in front of the RP during a domestic violence incident. Due to the circumstances surrounding the shooting detectives from violent crimes responded to assist. The investigation is ongoing.

400 block of Chapel Hills Drive
Location
Officers were dispatched to the 7-Eleven store at 2434 Briargate Parkway in an attempt to locate a suicidal subject who was armed with a gun. While checking the area, Officer Strevett located the subject's vehicle parked in the 400 block of Chapel Hills Drive.

As other officers joined him, they observed that the male was holding a pistol to his head and talking on the phone. Officer Strevett coordinated additional officers' response to close roadways in the area and he initiated phone contact with the subject.

Due to Officer Strevett's calm and reassuring demeanor, he was able to convince an armed, despondent individual to put the gun down and exit the vehicle to receive the appropriate assistance that he needed.
