On Friday afternoon, Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 2200 block of W. Vermijo Ave. As they were approaching the residence, two pit bulls ran from the back of the residence to the front. The pit bulls ran past the officer in the yard and ran at the officer in the street. The lead pit bull went airborne as it lunged at the officer. The officer shot and killed the attacking pit bull. Pikes Peak Humane Society responded, captured the second pit bull, and assisted with the investigation. The owners of the pit bulls was cited for vicious animals.

2125 Busch Ave.
Location
On the above date and time officers were dispatched to Pure Medical, a marijuana grow facility, located at 2125 Busch Av. in regard to a burglar alarm. The first officer on scene determined that there was forced entry into the business. As Officer Calkins was arriving on scene, the other officer heard a subject yell "The police are here" from west of the scene. The officer observed two subjects on bicycles approximately 4 blocks west and saw these subjects ride off northbound. He relayed this information to Officer Calkins and he pursued them but they were able to elude him. A perimeter was quickly established and officers began to locate abandoned evidence in the area.

Canine Officer Troy Bauer and his K-9 Rico responded to the scene and began a track. The suspect, Damon Bean, was located hiding in a garage in the 2200 block of Bott Av. where he was detained and eventually positively identified as one of the burglars.

Another party was located nearby and identified as a person of interest.

Investigation is continuing.

At approximately 1515 hours, CET Officers observed a suspicious vehicle with 3 occupants park along a curb in the area of 1041 Palacio View. Officers observed one male exit the vehicle and walk along the back side of the apartment complex looking around. This area has had recent car and apartment break-ins. Officers set up containment and attempted contact with the suspect, who began running back towards the vehicle. As containment closed in, the suspect gave up and was immediately identified as Terry Nutall,(28), the suspect wanted for Felony Domestic two days ago from the 1100 block of Mazatlan Circle, along with additional warrants. CET Officers also arrested a second suspect, identified as Darnell Maxie (27), who was in the vehicle, on two unrelated warrants.

On 04/23/14, at 1918 hours, Officer J. Weise and Officer D. Wilberding were dispatched to 810 Brianna Point, Colorado Springs Colorado (Lakeside Auto) in regards to a fraud report. Upon arrival officers contacted the owner who reported approximately two weeks prior they took a 2007 Hummer H2 as a trade.

Mr. Keysar indicted the person that traded the vehicle in identified himself as Kevin Johnsten (29) and presented a New Mexico driverís license as identification. Mr. Johnsten stated he wanted to trade in the Hummer for a cheaper vehicle because he needed equity because he was buying a house.

Mr. Johnsten presented a New Mexico title in his name for the Hummer with the trade. Mr. Johnsten traded for a 2003 Ford F350 pickup truck and was also going to receive additional cash as part of the trade-in.

Mr. Johnsten took possession of the Ford truck and returned to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Keysar became suspicious and began to look closer at the paperwork and it seemed the title Mr. Johnsten presented for the Hummer appeared altered. Mr. Keysar contacted the New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles and they indicated the title was an invalid and did not exist.

Officer Wilberding was able to determine that the Hummer had been reported stolen from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mr. Keysar reported that Mr. Johnsten contacted them on 04/23/14 and said he was having transmission trouble with the Ford he traded for. Mr. Keysar arranged to have Mr. Johnsten bring the truck back from Albuquerque.

On 4/24/14, at approximately 0840 hours, Mr. Johnsten arrived at Lakeside Auto in the Ford pickup truck he traded for. Detective J. Frabbiele and Detective O. Scott contacted the driver who identified himself as David Quezada. During a search of Mr. Quezada in his wallet Detective Scott located a New Mexico driverís license in the name of Kevin Johnsten. Detective Scott also located a New Mexico driverís license in the name of David Quezada. Both licenses had two different pictures of the same person.

Mr. Quezada was charged with Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Theft (Felony), Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Criminal Impersonation. He was transported to the Criminal Justice Center.

On 04/24/2014 at 8:37AM officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of Sand Ripples Ln. to investigate the report of a prowler. The reporting party stated a male was seen opening her car door which set off the alarm. The male also knocked on her homeís door and then walked around the house when she did not answer. Upon police arrival the suspect was observed in the RPís vehicle. Off. Johnson approached the suspect and attempted to handcuff him when he ran from the scene. Officers cordoned off the immediate area and began a yard to yard search. The suspect was located hiding in the area and placed under arrest for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Astrozon Bl and Academy Bl on a three car traffic accident. At this time, the crash is currently being investigated and there are road closures.

Northbound Academy Blvd at Hancock Blvd is completely shut-down.

Southbound Academy Blvd at Astrozon Blvd there are no left turns onto eastbound Astrozon Blvd.

Eastbound traffic on Astrozon approaching Academy, there is no "through lanes" open, drivers can only go south bound or north bound on Academy.

Westbound traffic on Astrozon approaching Academy, drivers can not make a left turn to go southbound on Academy.

(Most of the accident scene is located in the northbound lanes of Academy Blvd on the southeast side of the roadway)

Due to more vehicles being out on the roadway because of the Christmas Holiday season, this area has become extremely congested with traffic. CSPD is requesting drivers find an alternate route at this time. It is unknown how long the intersection will be shut down.

Investigation Update: The Major Accident team responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The investigation shows that vehicle #1, A PT Cruiser was southbound on Academy Blvd. approaching Astrozon. The traffic signal for southbound changed to red and a the east bound Astrozon light turned green. A green Dodge Dakota truck began to travel east on Astrozon and was struck by the PT Cruiser which failed to stop for the red light. The Green truck was subsequently pushed into a white Ford truck which was stopped for the light on north bound Academy. A 6 year old passenger in the PT Cruiser sustained injury and was transported from the scene to a local hospital. The driver of the PT Cruiser, Identified as Brenda Hurt, a 22 year old female and aunt to the injured child. Alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in the accident. Charges are pending further investigation
