Title
300 Shadow Ridge Grove
Location
UPDATE: When detectives arrived on the scene yesterday, they interviewed the 17 year old mother of the new born baby. The baby is believed to have been between 6-12 hours old at the time. While initial information revealed the baby was found in a trash container, investigators later learned that the baby was never in or near the trash container. As of yesterday, the baby was placed in protective custody with DHS. Charges being considered include Felony - Influencing a Public Official or Misdemeanor - False Reporting.

On 12/05/2012, at approximately 1320 hours, a 911 telephone call was received regarding an infant found inside of a trash dumpster in the 300 block of Shadow Ridge Grove. The newborn female was transported to Memorial Hospital Central, where she is currently being kept for observation.

Detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit responded to assume responsibility for the investigation. The investigation is continuing at this time.

The Colorado Springs Police Department wants to remind Colorado Springs residents the State of Colorado has a Safe Haven Law, which allows a parent to relinquish custody of a baby, 72 hours old or less, to an employee at a hospital or fire station without penalty of prosecution.

Title
Garden of the Gods at Mark Dabling
Location
On the above date and time, Falcon Divison officers were dispatched to an injury traffic accident at Garden of the Gods and Mark Dabling. The investigation revealed a green Jeep Liberty was westbound on Garden of the Gods, preparing to turn left onto Mark Dabling while the light was changing from yellow to red. Right after the collision, the driver of the Saturn accelerated, hit the south curbline approximately 300 feet from the intersection, went airborn and turned 180 degrees, landing on an unoccupied tan sedan that was parked in front of a business at 111 W. Garden of the Gods. The driver of the Jeep was cited for vehicles turning left. The driver of the Saturn was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the fire department. She was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for serious but non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Jeep and the passenger of the Saturn were not injured.
