1700 S. Circle Drrive
Location

The investigation revealed that the male was riding a motorized scooter northbound on C. Circle Drive when he was struck from behind by the suspect vehicle.

Title
Near Delmonico and Rockrimmon
Location
On Sunday, May 25th, CSPD investigated a scam which has, unfortunately, become quite common across America. A Colorado Springs man received a telephone call from an unknown man claiming to have kidnapped the man's brother. The caller provided an elaborate and evolving storyline about how the brother was kidnapped. Money was demanded in exchange for the safe release of the brother. Also, in a threatening manner, the suspect said the police were not to be called. The victim of the attempted scam contacted his brother by telephone and learned he was unharmed and not the victim of a kidnapping. In this case, the intended victim was suspicious and noted the story by the suspect did not make sense. He conducted quick and reasonable follow-up and realized this was an extortion attempt before he suffered great losses from the scheme. This case had similarities to falsely reported kidnappings in locations outside Colorado Springs. The public is reminded to remain calm and logical if a call such as this is received. Oftentimes, the callers have incredible details concerning the false captive which may cause us to become emotional. Asking questions, listening, and paying attention to details should help prevent falling prey to such ruthless crimes.
