**BOULDER STREET IS CLOSED ALL DIRECTIONS FROM UNION BLVD. TO FARRAGUT STREET**

Officers responded to an auto vs. pedestrian accident. Upon arrival the CSFD was working to extricate a male from underneath a vehicle. The male was pronounced deceased on scene. The Major Accident Unit was notified and responded to complete the investigation. Details are still developing as to the cause. Alcohol and/or excessive speed are NOT believed to be factors in the accident.

**UPDATE: The victim appears to be a late 20's to early 30's male who was not identified at the scene. Coroner's Office will work on body identification. An autopsy is scheduled to determine cause of death.

On 4-3-2016 at about 0747hrs CSPD dispatch received a call for service regarding a hit and run. A green ford explorer with a bike strapped to the top hit another vehicle in the area of Briargate and Voyager then fled the scene. Officer L. Warnes began checking the area and located the run vehicle in the area of Voyager and Federal. He attempted to make a traffic stop however the driver (lone occupant), refused to pull over. A brief pursuit occurred and the driver Angie Chavez was finally stopped by Officer Warnes and Officer Richardson in the area of Interquest Parkway and New Life Circle. Chavez, an emotionally disturbed person was arrested for DUID, Vehicular Eluding, and numerous traffic violations. Chavez was booked into CJC on the above charges. No one was injured in the hit and run crash or pursuit.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of April 16, 2015 at 6:11PM due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at Springsgov.com and go to the CSPD homepage/Forms & Documents/Counter Reporting. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them.
