4400 Harwood Rd

On the above date and time, Sand Creek officers were dispatched to a shots fired call for service near the 4400 block of Harwood Rd. The victim stated he heard his neighbor’s car alarm going off and went out front to investigate. The victim stated he saw three males leaving the area and went to scare them out of the area. The victim said one of the suspects, a young Hispanic male, fired one shot at him with a hand gun. The victim was not hit and immediately left the area. One of the suspects stole a handgun from a vehicle parked in front of another residence on that block, before going into that house. The victim at that address woke up and saw the suspect in his home with a hand gun in his hand. The victim said this suspect was a young male wearing a black hoodie and camouflage pants. The victim yelled at the suspect, who ran from the house and joined the two others suspects. Within a few minutes officers located the three suspects near the 4500 block of Harwood Rd. The suspect wearing the black hoodie jumped a fence and fled the area but two of the suspects were contacted and detained. The victim, who was shot at by one of the suspects, positively identified the shooter. While checking the area for the third suspect, officers located two vehicles with the front doors ajar. Further investigation revealed that the suspects got into both vehicles. The stolen property was recovered and released back to the victims. Two of the suspects were arrested for the appropriate charges. The third suspect has not been identified at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers were dispatched to a robbery with a weapon. The suspect entered the business, pointing a gun at the clerk and demanded money. The suspect obtained an undetermined amount of cash and left the business. The suspect was described as a black male, early 20’s, 5’8” – 5’10” tall, with a thin build, wearing a black hoodie and acid wash jeans. The suspect was last seen on foot. Officers searched the area with the assistance of a K9 officer and were not able to locate the suspect.

On Sunday July 31st, 2016 at approx. 1:33AM, officers of the Colorado Springs Police Dept. Falcon Div. responded to the area of Federal Dr. and Voyager Pkwy, the vacant Colorado Crossings, for a burglary in progress. The reporting party observed flashlights in the abandoned buildings and later contacted three individuals. These parties were later determined to be juveniles. Once officers arrived, an additional four suspects were taken into custody without incident. All seven suspects took part in the disassembly of stereo equipment and attempted to remove it from the property without permission. The value of the equipment is yet to be determined. There is 24hr security on site which has prevented numerous criminal incidences. The seven suspects include 6 juveniles and 1 adult.

Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Tail Spin Drive to investigate a report of several shots fired. It was also reported that one house had been struck by a bullet. When officers arrived they observed several people leaving in multiple vehicles.
While officers were on scene, they were advised that a shooting victim had arrived at a local hospital. The victim, a 20 year old female, suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries.
Detectives from the CSPD Violent Crimes/Serious Assault unit responded and assisted in the investigation. At this time, there is no suspect information.

Maizeland Rd/ North Academy Blvd
Location
On 7-30-16, repaving crews were working on paving operations in the area of Maizeland and Academy Blvd when a dump truck dumping its payload, struck an overhead power line causing power lines to fall covering all lanes of traffic for north and southbound Academy Blvd. No one was injured in the incident. Crews on the scene were able to quickly shutdown all traffic to keep all citizens out of harms way. Colorado Springs Utilities responded and was able to open the roadway after replacing a broken pole and 4 downed lines. The roadway was closed from 8:47 AM to 2:20 PM.

***Update as of 2:20 PM all lanes off traffic are open and paving operations have continued.**

On 7/28/2016 at approximately 9:07 am, Officers were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in the 4800 block of Portrait Pl. The reporting party indicated the suspect, Deane Williams (29 years old), was wanted on previous felony charges and was currently inside a residence. As officers arrived on scene further information was learned that Mr. Williams had possibly barricaded himself within the residence. Officers were able to established sporadic communication with Mr. Williams and he refused multiple times to exit the premises. Through continued negotiations with Mr. Williams, he eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation portions of Oro Blanco Dr. and Portrait Pl. were closed down due to the potential hazard Mr. Williams posed.

On 07/26/16 at approximately 0427 hours, Officers were advised of a motor vehicle theft. The victim was tracking his vehicle, a white Impala and advised dispatch the vehicle had stopped in the area of Mitchell High School. Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle. A male suspect was observed getting out of the stolen vehicle and into a black vehicle which sped out of the parking lot southbound on Potter Drive. The black vehicle was located abandoned in the area of Potter Drive and Bridger Drive. A K-9 search of the area was conducted with negative results. The investigation revealed the black vehicle the suspects fled in was stolen. This vehicle was recovered. The original vehicle, as well as a White Toyota Tundra, was recovered in the Mitchell High School parking lot. They had been stolen in two separate burglaries. One of the suspects was described as black male, 5’7”, wearing dark clothing with a back pack.
