On 07/19/2014 at approximately 5:56pm, the Colorado Springs Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance in an apartment in the Mason Manor Apartments at 1129 Bennett Ave. Initial information was that a male had a knife and was threatening to kill people. As the first two officers arrived on scene, the suspect, identified as 30 year old Anton Bray, exited the apartment and confronted one of the officers before fleeing the area on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued at the end of which Bray surrendered. Bray was taken into custody on a warrant, along with new domestic violence related charges and obstructing a peace officer. Bray was subsequently transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

On 7/19/2014 at 6:24pm, the Colorado Springs Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a multiple vehicle traffic accident in the intersection of E. Pikes Peak Ave. and N. Academy Blvd.

Due to the traffic accident, northbound and southbound traffic on N. Academy Blvd. is closed between E. Bijou St. and Airport Rd. eastbound and westbound traffic on E. Pikes Peak Ave. is closed between Delaware Rd. and Ruskin Rd. The roads will be closed until further notice.

On Saturday, 07-19-2014, at 4:26PM, Sand Creek Division officers responded to the 4800 block of Astrozon Boulevard to investigate a report that a vehicle had crashed through a fence and into the backyard of a residence in the 2500 block of Prescott Circle East.

Upon arrival, officers determined a 14-year-old male took his mother's car without permission and was driving it through a trailer park in the 4800 block of Astrozon Boulevard. While doing so, the juvenile male lost control of the vehicle and crashed through a fence and into the backyard of a residence.

No injuries were reported. The juvenile, whose name is not being released due to his age, was served a summons for charges relating to the traffic collision.

On 7/18/2014 at approximately 7:27pm, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call reporting a gun being fired in the yard of a residence in the 2700 block of Willamette Place. The investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as 29 year old Yevgeny Melnikov, took his shotgun and went into a neighbor’s back yard with it. He then fired the shotgun towards an occupied vehicle. Witnesses physically detained Melnikov until officers arrival. Melnikov was charged with felony Illegal Discharge, Reckless Endangerment, and Obstructing a Peace Officer. He was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being stuck by a train near Goose Gossage park. Upon arrival the victim, a 24 year old male, was found with along the tracks with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The investigation determined that the male was attempting to jump in front of the train to commit suicide.

On July 18, 2014, at approximately 3:30PM officers from the Stetson Hills Division were dispatched to the Academy Bank (2835 Briargate Blvd) in regards to a Robbery call for service. Upon the officers arrival it was determined that the suspect had fled prior to their arrival. The investigation revealed that a lone suspect entered the bank and demanded money at gunpoint. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described and a white male, 5-10, 170, wearing a black hat, sunglasses, black bandana covering his face, a black shirt and blue jeans.

On July 18, 2014 at 4:57AM the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the Reserve Apartments (2013 Carmel Dr). Upon arrival officers found two people shot. Medical transported the victims to a local hospital where they remain in stable condition with serious injuries.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Section responded to assist in the investigation which is ongoing.

The male party, identified as 84 year old Donald Hayward, was last seen in the area of Freemantle Dr. and Contrails Dr. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes. He is described as a white male, 5'9, 170 lbs and glasses.

CSPD is asking the public to contact CSPD at 719-444-7000 if anyone sees him. No foul play is suspected.

At approximately 1241hrs, Officer were dispatched to the intersection of Airport Road and Powers Blvd on a traffic hazard involving a semi truck. The Southbound right lanes on Powers are blocked waiting for a heavy-lift tow truck.

The sitution has been investigated and it appears the load the truck was carrying shifted and pinched the air line to the truck's brake system.

As of 1500hrs, the truck still has not been cleared from the scene and is causing significant traffic flow issues.

Please use alternate routes if possible.
