Burglary
Title
5000 block of Nolte Drive North
Location
Sand Creek officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 5000 block of Nolte Drive North. A vigilant citizen reported that two suspicious males, one of them possibly armed with a firearm, had entered the backyard of a residence through a fence. One of the males knocked on a back door, in an apparent attempt to see if anyone was home, while the other acted as a lookout. The suspects then attempted, unsuccessfully, to make entry into the home.

Officers arrived within minutes of the call and observed two subjects matching the suspects’ description walking near the location of the incident. When officers began to approach the subjects, one of them became non-compliant. Officers were able to eventually detain the subjects without further incident and recovered a pistol.

The investigation led to both subjects being charged with Attempted 1st Degree Burglary, Conspiracy, Possession of Weapons by Previous Offenders, and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Traffic Crash
Title
I-25 and Garden of the Gods Rd

Officers responded to a multiple vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer truck on I-25 just north of Garden of the Gods Rd.

The investigation determined that a vehicle possibly lost control on the wet roadway and spun out in traffic, ending up facing the wrong direction. The car which had originally lost control then left the scene.

All of the vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. Two people were transported to the hospital. One person had a serious but non-life threatening injury.

The interstate was narrowed to one lane southbound for two hours while the crash was investigated and vehicles were removed.

No citations have been issued as of this time, as the investigation is continuing.
