On October 31, 2017, the El Paso Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy on the deceased male who was shot on October 30, 2017, in the 2200 block of East Platte Avenue. The deceased male has been identified as 24-year-old Conte Emanuel Smith’El, a resident of Colorado Springs.

Mr. Smith’El’s death is the 26th homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2017. The City of Colorado Springs had 17 homicides at this time last year.

This continues to be an active investigation.

On October 30, 2017, one of two males shot, on October 26, 2017, in the 2300 block of East Boulder Street, died at a local hospital from his injuries.

On October 31, 2017, the El Paso Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy on the male who has been identified as 18-year-old Alex Eugene Ainsworth, a resident of Colorado Springs.

Mr. Ainsworth death is the 25th homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2017.

The City of Colorado Springs had 17 homicides at this time last year.

This continues to be an active investigation.

3800 block of Soft Breeze Way
Location
During the continuing investigation into the October 29, 2017 shooting that occurred in the 3800 block of Soft Breeze Way, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives have learned that more than 100 people attended a house party in this block. Many of those attending the party were juveniles and/or young adults.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is requesting information from anyone who attended this party on October 28th - 29th (Saturday evening into Sunday morning). Please contact the Colorado Springs Police Department either at the non-emergency number, 719-444-7000; or if you currently attend a school with a Colorado Springs Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO), please provide your information to your school’s SRO.

Detectives are looking for any information to include photographs, videos, and social media posts regarding the party and its attendees.

6300 Galway Drive
Location
On Tuesday, 10/31/2017 at 6:20pm an attempted robbery occurred in the 6300 block of Galway Drive. Suspects, in a silver SUV, pulled up to the victim who was walking down the street. At gunpoint, they demanded his cell phone. The victim refused to give it to the suspects and they fled the area.

Approximately two hours later at 8:08pm the same suspects robbed a female at gunpoint of her purse near South Murray Boulevard and Sandpiper Drive. Her purse was full of Halloween candy.

Shortly thereafter, patrol officers from the Sand Creek Division observed a vehicle matching the description and made contact with the occupants. Two adult males and two juvenile males were detained. The victim's purse from the 2nd robbery was observed inside the vehicle. Officers also located a gun in the area that had been thrown from the vehicle just before officers made contact. The gun matched the description of the one used in the robberies.

Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department were notified and responded to assist.

18 year old Terrance Hester and a 17 year old male were taken into custody and both charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Robbery.

An unknown male threw a rock at an employee and took the register drawer leaving the area with an unknown amount of cash. The suspect was described as a Black male approximately 30 years old with blonde short braided hair (dreadlocks).

On October 30, 2017, at approximately 9:56 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 2200 block of East Platte Avenue on a reported shooting. When officers arrived on scene they discovered a deceased adult male with an apparent gunshot wound inside the business.

The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section, Homicide Unit, responded to the scene and initiated a death investigation. This is still a very active scene.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of October 31st 2017 at 01:18 AM. at time due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange their information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. When damage to any vehicle requires a wrecker, a counter report can still be made providing the previous criteria is met. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at Springsgov.com, go to the CSPD homepage and select “report a minor traffic accident” for instructions. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them. Drivers should use streets and roadways less hazardous in winter driving conditions. Drivers also need to remove snow and ice obstructing their vision and have adequate snow tires on their vehicles

On October 29, 2017, at approximately 3:09 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 4400 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway regarding a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered three males with apparent gunshot wounds. All three subjects were transported to area hospitals. One juvenile male died from his injuries, one juvenile male is listed as critical and stable, and one juvenile male is listed as serious and stable.

The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. This is an active investigation.

******UPDATE - ALL LANES OF TRAFFIC NOW OPEN******
On October 29th, 2017, at about 2:49 PM, Colorado Springs Police Department Officers responded to a call of a traffic accident at Dublin and Powers Boulevards. When Officers arrived, they found that a Honda Accord, which was westbound on Dublin, turned left in front of an Acura MDX, which was eastbound on Dublin. Both vehicles collided in the intersection within the northbound lanes of Powers, resulting in one of the vehicles rolling onto its roof.

All the occupants of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Drugs or alcohol are not factors in this accident. It appears that all drivers were wearing seat belts.

The northbound lanes of Powers Boulevard are temporarily closed at Dublin Boulevard, with traffic currently being diverted east and west at Dublin while crews clean up the accident.
