4300 Hunting Meadows Circle

On Tuesday, 04-01-2014 at approximately 8:47PM, Sand Creek Division officers responded to a reported disturbance in the 4300 block of Hunting Meadows Circle.

Upon arrival, officers learned a male identified as Joshua Hayward had been at the residence but left prior to officer arrival. Officers determined Hayward had a nationwide felony parole violation warrant for his arrest.

Officers established telephone contact with Hayward and, as a result of the communication, were able to locate Hayward walking along Academy Boulevard near Astrozon Boulevard.

An officer contacted Hayward in this area; however, Hayward was not compliant and a Taser was deployed. Hayward was taken into custody without further incident.

The Colorado Department of Corrections was notified of the arrest.

Academy Blvd south of Drennan Road
Location
At approximately 1:45 pm, a CSPD officer driving an unmarked vehicle observed the driver of a Buick Rendezvous driving erratically south on Academy Blvd. The officer’s vehicle was not equipped with emergency lights and siren and had to wait for responding Sand Creek Division Units to get the vehicle to stop. The driver’s actions continued to be erratic causing the initial officer to feel that the driver was driving impaired and needed to be stopped before she caused an accident.

Responding units were able to box the driver in, causing her to rear end a CSPD cruiser, on Academy Blvd south of Drennan Road. The CSPD cruiser did not sustain any damage, and only minor damage could be seen on the suspect’s vehicle. The female driver was seen by medical personnel at the scene. The driver did not sustain any injuries, and there were no injuries to responding officers. The female driver was eventually taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated for possibly driving under the influence of drugs.

Airport Road and Murray Boulevard
Location
The Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of an attempted abduction that had occurred near the intersection of Airport Road and Murray Boulevard. Officers responded to the area and located an adult victim. The victim told the investigators a male, unknown to the victim, had attempted to force the victim into a blue colored older model 4-door sedan. The victim was not injured.

The victim was able to get away from the Hispanic male and fled to safety at a nearby convenience store. The Hispanic male left the area traveling east on Airport Road. Officers checked the area but did not locate the suspect or his vehicle.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s, 5’7” to 5’9” tall; thin build with dark brown hair.

On Sunday, March 30th at 12:26 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a car versus building traffic accident at 5610 N. Union Bl, the Precision Fitness business. The business was closed and unoccupied at the time of the accident. There was considerable damage to the glass store front.

The driver of the vehicle, 31 year old Anthony Martinez, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. Mr. Martinez was not injured.

The investigation into the traffic accident is still on going at this time.

E Woodman Rd at Rangewood Dr

On 03/29/14 at approximately 3:42PM officers responded to a three car injury accident at the intersection of Woodman Rd and Rangewood Dr.

The investigation revealed a small red station wagon travelling west on E Woodman Rd turned left in front of a silver SUV that was travelling east on E Woodman Rd. The silver SUV broadsided the small red station wagon causing the red station wagon to spin 360 degrees. The red station wagon then struck the front of a red VW Jetta that had been stopped in the left turn lane on northbound Rangewood at Woodman Rd.

The red station wagon and silver SUV sustained moderate to heavy damage. There was minor damage to the red VW Jetta.

There were three occupants of the siler SUV. Two of the occupants were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released. The third occupant was not injured. There were three occupants of the red station wagon and all three occupants were transported to local hospitals. The driver and front passenger of the red station wagon were treated and released. The rear passenger of the red station wagon suffered serious non life threatening injuries and was admitted to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. There were no injuries to the occupants of the red VW Jetta.

No alcohol or drugs are suspected. The driver of the red station wagon was identified as Jimi Brown, a 35 year old male. He was served and released on the charges of Careless Driving Causing Injury, Driving Under Restraint, and No Insurance.

3510 Lenoso Terrace
Location
The Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a fire at 3510 Lenoso Terrace. The Colorado Springs Fire Department was on scene when officers arrived. The fire consumed about 150 square feet of dry grass surrounding the patio of 3510 Lenoso Terrace.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames. No one was injured and no buildings were damaged.
The source of the fire was determined to be from an intentionally lit paper product that had been tossed on the ground by an adult resident of 3510 Lenoso Terrace. Attempts by the resident to extinguish the flames were unsuccessful and the fire quickly spread due to the dry conditions and wind.

Based on the investigation the officers arrested Mark LAPIERRE, 52 Caucasian male for Arson, a class four (4) felony and Child Abuse, a class two (2) misdemeanor.

3650 N. Nevada Ave
Location
Officers were dispatched to a report of a shot being fired at the Expo Center at 3650 N. Nevada Ave. The center was holding a gun show/sale at the time. When officers arrived, they contacted the event organizers and a vendor at the show.

The investigation determined that the vendor was setting up his products when the shot was accidentally fired into the floor. The round shattered upon impact, resulting in no damage and no injuries. The vendor reported that they had been test firing the weapon earlier in the week, as it had been previously been returned to them as defective. After the test, they removed the magazine from the weapon, but forgot to empty the chamber of the weapon. The vendor reports that the shot went off when the back of the gun was bumped.

The property is owned by UCCS, and officers from the UCCS Police Department responded to the location as well. UCCS took the lead in the investigation, charging the vendor with Prohibited Use of a Weapon. The vendor was asked to leave the property by the event organizers.

Officers were dispatched to the Windmill Apartments, located 4020 Lacy Lane on a possible trespassing.

While enroute to the call Officers were advised the male suspect maybe in possession of a handgun.

Upon arrival officers made contact with the male, who was later identified as Terrance Michael Sexton. For Officer Safety, Officer Rutter asked Mr.Sexton to turn away from him and place his hands behind his back. Mr. Sexton turned around and as he was beginning to put both hands behind him, he then abruptly moved one of his hands to the front of him.

As Mr. Sexton made the movement with his hand, Officer Blackburn observed a brown colored handle protruding from the front of Mr. Sexton's jacket. Officer Blackburn immediately took control of Mr. Sexton's hand and both of his hands were secured behind his back.

Officer Blackburn then removed a black revolver with a brown handle. Mr. Sexton stated he was just trying to give the gun to officers. Mr. Sexton was arrested on gun charges

On 03/28/2014, at approximately 1532 hours, officers were dispatched to a local hotel regarding a domestic disturbance. The female half of the disturbance indicated she was being threatened inside of the hotel room by a male whom the female had a protection order against. The female was able to leave the room prior to the arrival of officers. Officers surrounded the room and ordered the male to exit the room. The male refused to exit the room, so members of the Tactical Enforcement Unit responded to assist with the call.

At approximately 2050 hours, the male exited the room after OC projectiles were introduced into the hotel room. The male was identified as 45 year old Ronald Wyckoff. Mr. Wyckoff was transported to the Criminal Justice Center, where he was booked in for a domestic violence felony assault warrant, new charges of Failure to Leave Premises upon Request of a Peace Officer, Harassment, Menacing and Violation of a Court Order, and two unrelated misdemeanor warrants.
