On 11/01/13 at 0048 hours, Officer Marshall contacted David McIver, a 42 year old male who was parked on Purgatory Dr. east of N. Union Blvd. passed out in the driver seat of a running vehicle. Officer Marshall was able to wake Mr. McIver up by opening the driver door of the vehicle. Officer Marshall told Mr. McIver to get out of the vehicle but he would not comply to verbal commands. Officer Marshall was able to get Mr. McIver out of the vehicle with the help of Officer Moore. Mr. McIvor continued to resist officers and a TASER was used to gain control of Mr. McIver. Mr. McIver was arrested for Obstructing a Police Officer and DUI.

At about 8:25pm, on 10/31/13, multiple officers from several divisions were dispatched to investigate a possible home invasion in the 6100 block of Breeze Ct.
Upon arrival, officers determined that two black male suspects unlawfully entered the residence and demanded money from the occupants at gunpoint. The suspects were described as having stocky builds, wearing all black clothing with masks, and each suspect possessed a handgun. The suspects fled the location and were not located.
The investigation is continuing.

On 10/31/2013 at approximately 3:00pm, Gold Hill Property Detectives were doing proactive enforcement in the area of Red Rock Canyon Park. Detectives observed the arrestee, later identified as 25 year old Anthony Row, pull in and park his car in the parking lot. He exited his vehicle and walked around the lot looking into other parked cars. Row then returned to his car and moved it a couple of spaces away, next to the victim's vehicle. The investigation revealed that one of the occupants of the victim's vehicle had left the door unlocked and multiple occupants had left their personal belongings inside of the vehicle. Row entered the victim's vehicle through the unlocked car door and stole two purses left inside. He then returned to his vehicle, where officers attempted to contact him. After a short foot pursuit, officers took Row into custody. Row was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges of First Degree Criminal Trespass (breaking into the car), identity theft, possession of burglary tools, Possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest, and other charges.
As we head into the holiday season, the Police Department would like to remind everyone to lock their cars and to not leave anything of value in plain view.

2700 Block of E. Uintah Street
Location
On 10/31/2013, at approximately 1958 hours, a 911 call was received regarding a robbery involving a weapon. A 19 year old male drove to the 2700 block of E. Uintah Street to meet a female acquaintance who owed the male some money. When the victim made contact with the female, 5 Hispanic males ran towards the victim. One of the males placed a knife to the side of the victim's head, while another male shoved a small semi-automatic handgun into the victim's mouth, breaking off a portion of his front tooth. The male suspects struck the victim several times in the face and head, taking his wallet, cellular telephone and house keys. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple contusions and lacerations to his head and face.

The victim did not provide much information about the suspects other than to say they were all Hispanic males, approximately 18-30 years of age, all wearing dark blue or black clothing with the number "13" on the clothing. The victim described three of the males exiting a gold colored 1995-2000 Cadillac Deville just before the robbery.

7600 Hickorywood Dr.

On the above date and time officers were dispatched to the 7600 block of Hickorywood Dr. to investigate a report of a two suspicious males in a white vehicle. Upon police arrival, a white Honda Accord was seen parked in the area and a check revealed it was a stolen vehicle. The two males were not present therefore, officers left the vehicle but kept a visual on it in hopes the males would return. Approximately 10 minutes later, officers observed a male walk to the vehicle and enter the driver’s side door. This male was contacted and identified as Jonathan Rutjes. It was determined the other male lived approximately six houses away from the officers’ location. A brief search by Off. Nelson resulted in him contacting a male carrying a backpack. This male, later identified as Noel Ximenez, was questioned and it was determined that he was in possession of numerous burglary tools, a wig and an expandable baton. Ximenez also admitted to being in the vehicle. Rutjes was charged with Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft and Ximenez was charged with Possession of Burglary Tools. Both were transported to CJC on these felonies.

On the above date and time an officer from the Sand Creek Division was driving to a call for service. The officer was driving northbound on S. Academy Blvd. approaching Airport Road. The driver of a Lincoln Navigator vehicle that was travelling southbound on S. Academy Blvd. attempted to make a left hand turn on to eastbound Airport Rd., turning in front of the officer, causing a collision in the middle of the intersection.

The driver of the Lincoln Navigator was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The officer was also transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

The driver of the Lincoln Navigator was served a traffic summons for the charges of Vehicles Turning Left and Careless Driving Causing Injury.

There was significant damage to the Navigator and to the police cruiser.

On 10/27/2013 at 8:17 PM Colorado Springs Police Officers were dispatched to 4305 E Platte Ave. in regards to a theft situation. During the investigation officers learned that the victim had advertised on Craig’s List that he was selling two Apple iPhone 5’s.

The victim was contacted through the Craig’s list ad and arrangements were made to meet a potential buyer at the Walgreen’s 4305 E Platte Ave. When the victim arrived at the meeting location the victim was contacted by two black male suspects.

The suspects asked to look at the phones and when the victim gave the suspects the phones, the suspects fled the area on foot with the phones without rendering payment.

On 10/28/13 at 7:22 pm Colorado Springs Police were dispatched to Walgreen’s 4305 E Platte Ave again on another theft call for service. During this call the victim related that he had advertised an Apple iPhone 4s and an Apple iPhone 5 for sale on Craig’s list. The victim was contacted by a potential buyer who arranged to meet the victim at the Walgreen’s to purchase the phones.

When the victim arrived he was contacted by two black males who asked to look at the phones. When the suspects had the phones in hand the suspects fled the area without rendering payment to the victim for the phones.

On 10/28/13 at 7:40 PM Colorado Springs Police Officers were dispatched to 1920 S Chelton Rd, Walgreen’s, on a theft situation. When officers arrived they contacted the elderly male victim. The victim stated that he had advertised an Apple iPad mini on Craig’s List and had been contacted by a potential buyer. The victim met the potential buyer at the Walgreen’s store and when the victim gave the suspect the iPad to look at the suspect took the iPad and fled the area without rendering payment to the victim.

Detectives with the Colorado Springs Police Department Sand Creek Property Crimes unit began investigating the situation on 10/29/2013. During the investigation, Detectives placed an advertisement on Craig’s List to sell an Apple iPhone. Within several hours of placing the ad Detectives were contacted by a person wanting to purchase the advertised phone. Arrangements were made to meet the suspect at the Walgreen’s 1920 S Chelton Rd at 6:30 PM.

When the suspect arrived and contacted a Detective, the suspect grabbed the iPhone that was advertised and attempted to run from the area. Detectives, patrol officers and K-9 officers were able to apprehend the suspect after a brief foot chase. The suspect was taken into custody and will be charged with 3 counts of Felony theft and one count of theft from an at-risk adult. At this time the investigation is continuing and more arrests are anticipated.

On October 30, 2013 at 6:15PM, investigators from the Robbery Unit and Officers from the CSPD Impact Team arrested 26 year-old Jason Eddleman in connection with a spree of robberies, which occurred over a three day period. The pattern began on October 28 at 6:44PM, when an armed white male robbed the Burger King restaurant at 2730 S. Academy Blvd. That was followed by the armed holdup of Carl's Jr. at 1890 S. Academy Blvd. on October 29 at 3:28PM. Later that evening, around 7:54PM, the Entertainmart store, 651 N. Academy Blvd. was robbed.

Two 7-11 stores were also robbed by the same suspect, a white male, 20 - 30 years old, 6'2" - 6'4" and 200 pounds. At 11:13PM, the 7-11 at 331 S. Hancock Ave. was robbed at gunpoint. At 3:35AM (10/30), the 7-11 at 450 N. Murray Blvd. was held up. A getaway car was observed at more than one scene; witnesses described a blue mini-van. Follow-up revealed the van was recently reported stolen. Eddleman was named as the suspect in that case, and he appeared to match the suspect in the armed robberies.

On 10/30/13, Impact Team Officers Langlais, Yanez and Duran, while conducting follow-up on a separate matter, spotted the stolen van parked in the 1400 block of Alvarado Dr. Surveillance was set up, and they were joined by members of the Robbery Unit. Shortly after 6PM three people got in the van and investigators stopped them before they could leave the parking lot. Jason Eddleman was the driver, and he was taken into custody on a warrant obtained that afternoon.

The suspect, described as a white male, about 30 years of age, wearing a blue hoodie entered the store and demanded cigarettes and money while pointing a handgun at the clerk. After receiving some packs of cigarettes and an undetermined amount of money, the suspect exited the store and fled in a blue vehicle.
