On 12/16/2012 at approximately 0146 hours, officers from the Sand Creek Division advised Colorado Springs Police Department Dispatch that they heard numerous shots fired east of Shenandoah Drive and South Chelton Road. Officers located a vehicle that had been damaged by the shots at East Fountain Boulevard and South Circle Drive. The right front passenger window of this vehicle had been shattered and two of the three occupants had very minor injuries from flying glass. The occupants of the damaged vehicle advised that two other vehicles, one red and one black had people that were shooting at each other and that their vehicle had been damaged during the shooting. Prior to police arrival both vehicles fled north on Circle Drive. Officers found numerous shell casings on scene. No further details are available; however, police are asking that anyone with information relating to this incident contact them at 444-7000.

Location
Officers from the Sand Creek Division responded to a call of suspicious persons that were going door to door and entering backyards. The suspects were in a red Chevy Cavalier that was linked to a motor vehicle theft that occurred 58 minutes earlier. Sand Creek Officers were immediately in the area. Officer Chaney located the vehicle at a distance north on Academy Boulevard from Astrozon Boulevard. The vehicle turned into the Sierra Sun neighborhood where Officers momentarily lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle was last seen northbound on the pedestrian path along Sand Creek toward S. Chelton Road. Sierra High School went on a lockdown status as School Officer Singels was alert to patrol activities. A perimeter was set with the assistance of the Motorcycle Unit and Stetson Hills Officers. The stolen Cavalier was found unoccupied in the Summit Creek Apartment complex with the engine running. Traffic Officer Newell and Officer Carnes found one of the suspects in the black hoodie on the south side of Sierra High School. The suspect was taken at gunpoint and he was identified as Jeffrey Marshall. Marshall was in possession of a concealed handgun. An extensive search was made by K9 Officer Juhl and his canine, Rudy with TEU as the cover team. The second suspect was not found and he was described a thin, light skinned black male wearing an orange or tan hoodie. The stolen Cavalier was returned to the owner. As of 12:30 p.m., Marshall was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Motor Vehicle Theft charges.

A 26 year-old man was taken to Memorial Hospital after reportedly being robbed of his money and other small items at gunpoint. He received injuries to his head during the altercation. He reported he had been to a store and was walking home when he was accosted by three men wearing hoodies. One of the men hit him with a blunt object, possibly a firearm, and also shot in the direction of the victim of the hold-up from close range. Fortunately, the victim was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital within hours.
