12/15/12, Officers were dispatched to a traffic accident at the intersection of 8th St. and Cimarron. Upon arrival, Officers observed that the traffic accident involved a single vehicle travelling eastbound on Cimarron, which struck a single pedestrian crossing northbound on 8th St. The pedestrian’s injuries appear to be non life threatening at this time; however he was transported to Memorial Hospital for a full evaluation. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, but neither speed nor alcohol appears to be an issue.

Location
During "rush hour" two multi-car crashes occurred on the Interstate, SB at Cimarron and NB at S. Tejon. The two accidents were worked simultaneously by two groups of CSPD officers. One through lane of SB I-25 was closed for over one and a half hours and the NB traffic was partially blocked near the off-ramp of Nevada/Tejon.

3000 Starlight Circle
Location
Officers from the Sand Creek Division responded to a call of suspicious persons that were going door to door and entering backyards. The suspects were in a red Chevy Cavalier that was linked to a motor vehicle theft that occurred 58 minutes earlier. Sand Creek Officers were immediately in the area. Officer Chaney located the vehicle at a distance north on Academy Boulevard from Astrozon Boulevard. The vehicle turned into the Sierra Sun neighborhood where Officers momentarily lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle was last seen northbound on the pedestrian path along Sand Creek toward S. Chelton Road. Sierra High School went on a lockdown status as School Officer Singels was alert to patrol activities. A perimeter was set with the assistance of the Motorcycle Unit and Stetson Hills Officers. The stolen Cavalier was found unoccupied in the Summit Creek Apartment complex with the engine running. Traffic Officer Newell and Officer Carnes found one of the suspects in the black hoodie on the south side of Sierra High School. The suspect was taken at gunpoint and he was identified as Jeffrey Marshall. Marshall was in possession of a concealed handgun. An extensive search was made by K9 Officer Juhl and his canine, Rudy with TEU as the cover team. The second suspect was not found and he was described a thin, light skinned black male wearing an orange or tan hoodie. The stolen Cavalier was returned to the owner. As of 12:30 p.m., Marshall was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Motor Vehicle Theft charges.

On 12/14/2012 at 1:18 AM, Officers from the Stetson Hills Division were dispatched to a residence in the 3100 block of Vickers Drive. Two individuals had fled the residence and called police to report that a male just threatened one of them with a firearm. They reported that the male who threatened them was still inside of the residence and that he was loading assault rifles. Phone contact was made with the male and he surrendered peacefully to police on scene. A firearm was recovered from the residence. The male was arrested for menacing and assault. Vickers Dive was closed in both directions for a brief time prior to the male surrendering to police.

A 26 year-old man was taken to Memorial Hospital after reportedly being robbed of his money and other small items at gunpoint. He received injuries to his head during the altercation. He reported he had been to a store and was walking home when he was accosted by three men wearing hoodies. One of the men hit him with a blunt object, possibly a firearm, and also shot in the direction of the victim of the hold-up from close range. Fortunately, the victim was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital within hours.

On 12/13/2012 at about 8:35 PM a young lady was walking up to her apartment building when she was approached by a male subject. The man produced a silver handgun which he pointed at the victim as he turned her away from him and told her to get on the ground. The suspect then told her that if she looked at him, he would shoot her. The man took the victims purse and left the area on foot headed east. A K-9 track was attempted. The lone suspect was described as a black male in his 20's, 5'6" tall with medium build wearing a black hat, black hoodie, and black pants.

On 12/13/12 at about 6:55 PM, a man was exiting his vehicle in the 4900 blk of Painted Sky View when two young black males approached him. One of the males produced a handgun which he pointed at the victim and demanded money. The suspects obtained the victim's wallet and left the area westbound on foot. The suspects were described as 18-23 yr old black males, 5'6" - 5'8", thin builds, one wearing a grey hoodie and the other wearing a black hoodie. A K-9 track was attempted with negative results.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Astrozon Blvd/Astrozon Cr regarding a water main break causing a very large sink hole. Officers were requested to shut down the road to through traffic. As officers were closing down the road, a driver was able to access the road through a side street and drove her vehicle into the sink hole. The driver did not have any injuries, and the vehicle was able to be towed out of the sink hole with minimal damage. Colorado Springs Utilities responded to the scene and was working on repairing the burst pipe and roadway. Barricades responded to block off the street as well.

On the above date and time, Sand Creek patrol officers responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Carmel Dr. to investigate a report of a burglary in progress. Officers contacted the reporting party who stated a male had attempted to enter her home. A description was given of the suspect. During this investigation, another call was received that a male matching the description was seen in the 1900 block of Ventura Dr. acting suspicious near a vehicle. As officers were investigating this incident another call was received indicating a male matching the description was attempting to pull open a resident’s door in the 1700 block of Capulin Dr. At 8:43AM, a final call was received by CSPD that a male matching the same description was attempting to enter a home in the 1600 of Shenandoah Dr. through a window. Officers responded and observed the suspect attempting to climb into the window. The suspect was contacted and arrested. He was identified as 26 year old Jason Nordstrom. Nordstrom was booked into CJC on three counts of Attempted Second Degree Burglary and one count of Criminal Mischief.
