Two undercover CSPD officers were in an unmarked vehicle near Acacia Park when they observed a white Dodge Durango blow through a red light and stop in front of them. The officers began to make contact with the driver and passenger of the SUV when the driver gave a warning he was about to flee. Then, the driver aggressively drove the car in reverse, narrowly missing the officers, but ramming the unmarked vehicle. The suspect vehicle drove away rapidly and was last seen on Cascade, NB, heading through Colorado College. The driver was described as Hispanic with a shaved head. The officers were uninjured.

Colorado Springs Police are looking for Mr. Terry Crow. Mr. Crow had a traumatic brain inury which resulted in memory loss. Additionally, he gets lost easily.

He was last seen in the area of Willamette and Wahsatch where he lives. He is a 24 year old white male, 5'9", he has thin brown hair cut in a buzz cut. He is wearing a long sleeve dark grey dress shirt, jeans, black and white tennis shoes and a denim jacket.

FINAL UPDATE: The Coroner's Office has officially ruled the manner of death to be a Homicide and the cause of death: Stab Wounds.

The victim has been identified as 38 year old Juan Carlos Lopez-Herrera.


UPDATE: The autopsy on our victim is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Cause and manner will be released following the autopsy. Family Notifications have NOT been completed so the victim's name will not be released until that time.

ARRESTED: 20 year old Elton Lamar Johnson of Colorado Springs has been arrested and charged with Murder in the Second Degree. Once a photo is available, it will be released.

Investigation remains "on-going"



CSPD received a call of a disturbance just after midnight.

Officers arrived on the scene and found an adult male deceased from apparent trauma to the body.

Our Violent Crimes Unit is on the scene collecting evidence and asking for anyone with information to please come forward.

Once the Coroner's Office has conducted an autopsy, the cause and manner of death will be released and the victim's identity revealed.

On 05/09/13 at approximately 0342 hours, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Gold Hill Division were dispatched to the 1800 block of S. Nevada Ave. to investigate an urgent assist. The initial information indicated that a male victim walked into a business with a severely bloodied face. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate the victim but information was developed indicating that he was associated with a hotel in the 1700 block of S. Nevada Ave. Officers subsequently located and contacted the male who reported being attacked with a baton / bat and robbed of his property while he was inside a hotel room. The victim was transported to an area hospital where medical professionals determined he sustained a broken nose. Officers were able to identify the scene and contact a witness who corroborated certain aspects of the victim’s account. At the time of this writing officers are working to develop suspect information.

At 12:00 PM the communications center received a report of a suspicious package at 2424 W Garden of the Gods Rd, a company named PGI.

An unexpected package had been received at the company from a suspicious source. The method of packaging and the unusual weight of the package caused the company personnel to be concerned about the contents.

Several businesses at the location elected to evacuate after consulting with the police about the situation. The bomb unit responded and examined the package. They were able to determine that the contents were not hazardous, and that no criminal intent was involved in the delivery of the package.

Business was interupted at the facilities for about 2 hours during the incident.

On 05-07-13, while on routine patrol CSPD Impact Officer Marcus Yanez spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area of Fountain Blvd and Chelton Road. Officer Yanez recognized this vehicle from a request for information bulletin put out by Detective Al Rogers. Detective Al Rogers was attempting to identify an Identity Theft suspect via surveillance photographs of a van and an unknown white male suspect.

Officer Yanez stopped the vehicle and contacted the male driver, who resembled the wanted male in the same bulletin, and a female passenger.
Detective Rogers did respond to Officer Yanez’s location and identified the male driver, Jacob William Morrow age 24 as a suspect in an open Identity Theft Investigation The female passenger, Paige Torres age 28, was arrested on an unrelated arrest warrant. .

Gold Hill officers were dispatched to the area of Cimarron St and El Paso St in regards to a male who had been stabbed. The victim reported that an unknown suspect asked him for money then stabbed after he fell down while running away. The victim said he armed himself with a 2 X 4 board and swung it at the suspect in self defense. He could not provide ANY description of the suspect.

At about 0046 hrs, Sand Creek Officers were dispatched to 1060 S Chelton Rd. in regards to a male who reported he was assaulted by a subject who struck him in the head with a board. This victim reported he disarmed a second male who had a knife and stabbed the board wielding subject in self defense.

Both subjects were transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Alcohol and/or drugs were involved. No arrest was made pending further investigation.

On 05-06-13 at approximately 0418 hours, Officer Mike Hughes while on routine patrol observed two suspicious males, one with a black backpack in the area of E. San Miguel Street and Bates Drive. When originally questioned, both males denied any criminal activity and said that they were just out walking around. After breaking contact with theses two males, Officer Hughes found two motor vehicles that had been entered and apparently had items taken out of them. With the assistance of other midnight officers both males were re-contacted, detained and eventually admitted to breaking into several vehicles in the area.
Both male subjects were arrested and charged with First Degree Criminal Trespass. The juvenile male was served and released to a parent. The adult male was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. Both subjects stated that they were “Car Hopping”, checking for unlocked vehicle doors, and once found rifling through glove compartments and removing any items of value.

On the above date and time an unknown suspect wearing a black ski mask entered the EZ Money business, jumped over the counter and demanded money. The suspect rummaged through some cash drawers, taking money, and then rummaged through employees purses. The suspect is described as an unknown race male, approximately 5'-6" to 5'-8" with a medium build wearing a black ski mask, a dark hoodie with a white shirt underneath and white sweatpants. The suspect fled the area on foot and was last seen running northbound on Circle Dr. A K-9 track was attempted but due to the numerous pedestrians in the area, was unsuccessful. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery and the investigation is continuing.
