On the above date and time, Sand Creek officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of E Boulder St to respond to a stabbing call for service. Officers arrived and contacted two people who were involved in a disturbance. During the investigation officers discovered one person had a minor injury to her right hand. Both parties were interviewed concerning this incident and no charges were filed. The person with the minor injury was evaluated by AMR prior to leaving the area.

******Update: as of 6:00 pm, Ms. Brite was found and has been returned home******

CSPD is asking for the community’s assistance in locating Mary Brite, an 86 year old white female. Ms. Brite walked away from The Village at Skyline assisted living facility which is located near the intersection of S. 21st St. and Lower Gold Camp Rd. Ms. Brite suffers from dementia but is fully capable of walking. Ms. Brite is described as being approximately 5’ 4” tall 100 lbs. She was last seen wearing black pants, red shirt and a blue vest. She has shoulder length white hair and may have glasses on. Please contact CSPD dispatch at 444-7000 if you spot anyone matching Ms. Brite’s description.

Woodmen Road between Mohawk and Marsheffel Roads

On April 8, 2017 at approximately 2:27 PM, Colorado Springs Police Officers were dispatched to a vehicle versus bicycle traffic collision. Emergency crews from the Falcon Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to the westbound lanes of Woodmen Road, between Mohawk and Marsheffel Roads, where the cyclist was lying down after the collision. Life-saving efforts were initiated but proved unsuccessful and the cyclist was pronounced dead on scene. The CSPD Major Accident Unit assumed control of the investigation. The westbound lanes of Woodmen Road will remain closed while the investigation is completed. All updates and responses to media inquiries will come from the CSPD Public Information Officer.

While on patrol, Officers discovered a suspicious vehicle with two sleeping occupants. Upon contacting the driver and passenger, the driver started his vehicle and accelerated away. While driving away he struck a police cruiser, causing minor damage and nearly hit a police officer who was standing nearby. A short vehicle pursuit began and the suspect crashed his car a few blocks away, damaging a parked car and a fence. Suspect continued to try to drive away but his vehicle was disabled due to the damage it sustained. Suspect was charged with attempted assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, drug offenses, and numerous traffic offenses.

On the above date and time, Sand Creek officers were dispatched to a robbery in progress near the 3600 block of Michigan Ave. Dispatch aired the victim was robbed at gun point by four to six males who fled the area in two vehicles, heading north on Overton St. The suspects took the victim’s purse which contained some cash and personal items. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Victim was driving on Circle towards I-25 from Janitell Rd. A dark colored SUV pulled in front of the victim and 3-4 suspects got out. Words were exchanged and the victim was pulled from his vehicle and assaulted. One of the suspects got into the victim's vehicle and drove off. Victim did not recognize the suspects. No weapons used and victim suffered minor injuries. Investigation continuing.

Location
The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence Division (MVNI) initiated a several month long investigation involving the distribution of cocaine in the Colorado Springs area. Through a series of investigative techniques, several search warrants were obtained and later executed on April 6, 2017. With the assistance of the CSPD Special Enforcement Division’s Tactical Enforcement, K-9 and Motorcycle Units, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the CSPD Patrol Division, a main target of the investigation (Tomas Curiel Galindo, 44) was arrested for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance and approximately 900 grams of cocaine, 3.7 grams of heroin and $33,000 in U.S. Currency was seized. Mr. Galindo was transported to the EPSO Criminal Justice Center for booking and processing.

The Colorado Springs Police Department has arrested Anthony Jaquil Robinson, 22 years of age, for an early morning convenience store robbery which occurred on April 5, 2017, in the 4600 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway. At approximately 12:30AM, two masked males entered the 7-Eleven location, demanded and received cash at gunpoint, and then fled the area on foot. Patrol officers set up containment and eventually located Robinson walking in the area. The follow up investigation by detectives from the Robbery Unit resulted in Robinson’s arrest. This investigation is ongoing as detectives attempt to identify the second suspect.

An arrest was also made in an unrelated 7-Eleven robbery investigation. On April 4, 2017, detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Robbery Unit arrested 29 year old, Justin Kyle Leonard for the March 22, 2017, robbery of the 7-Eleven located in the 1900 block of North Academy Boulevard. In this robbery a masked male entered the business brandishing a handgun and demanding cash. The clerk, who refused to comply with the demand, was shot in the foot by the suspect as he ran to a getaway vehicle.
