Stetson Hills Officers were dispatched to an anonymous report of a domestic disturbance at the Stone Brook Terrace Apartments on Tappen Circle. Upon arrival; the preliminary investigation revealed that a twenty six year old female victim was assaulted during a first degree burglary as she was alone and at home inside of her apartment. The victim was assaulted and received minor physical injuries. Two suspects were involved in the burglary/assault. They were thirty five-year old Colorado Springs resident Joseph Reyes, who was arrested by officers a short distance away from the location of occurrence. Twenty seven year old Ashley Peterson was a second suspect; she is known by the victim and is the sister of the victim’s former boyfriend. Mr. Reyes was arrested for the burglary and for DUI. Multiple witnesses were located and interviewed. Ms. Peterson fled from the area on foot and is still at large; charges are pending for her. No additional information at this time.

Location
On July 18, 2014 the Academy Bank branch at 2385 Briargate Blvd. was robbed by a masked, armed suspect who was last seen running away from the scene. After tireless and extensive follow-up, an arrest was made today. Robbery detectives located and arrested Brandon Kisling, 39, of Colorado Springs in the 3900 block of Nora Point, in the northwest part of the city. Warrants were obtained on August 5, in relation to this case, and searches were executed at two local residences. Evidence was recovered, but Kisling was not found at that time. Further follow-up led investigators to an address on Nora Point, where Kisling was attempting to hide from police. He was located and taken into custody without difficulty or injury.

2129 Templeton Gap Road

On 08/06/2014, Officers were dispatched to the Alta Convenience Store at 2129 Templeton Gap Road in response to a possible burglary of coin machines at the car wash. Upon arrival, Officers contacted 41 year old Lawrence Arden with his wife and 18 year old son who were at the convienence store in a White GMC Sierra truck with Alabama plates. Officers were able to determine that this vehicle had been stolen on July 24th from a Fort Carson soldier serving overseas. Prior to arresting Mr. Arden, he made a bad decision and fled on foot, crossing Templeton Gap Rd. Officer Troy Bauer and Sergeant Patrick David gave chase and were able to apprehend Mr. Arden by deploying a TASER. Mr. Arden fell harmlessy to the grass of a lawn on Templton Gap Road where he was placed in handcuffs and later taken to jail for Motor Vehicle Theft and unrelated felony warrants.

As of 0345 hours, all lanes of E. Fillmore Street are now open.

The investigation revealed a Jeep was traveling eastbound on E. Fillmore Street when it crossed over into the westbound lanes and struck an oncoming semi truck. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep, 23 year old Matt Kershaw, was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and other traffic charges.

The semi truck suffered damage that caused fuel to leak from the gas tank. Approximately 30-40 gallons was leaked, but was otherwise contained by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.


On Tuesday, August 5th at 10:18 PM, CSPD Officers were dispatched to a traffic accident at the intersection of E. Fillmore Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. A semi truck and a Jeep were involved. One person was transported to a local hospital.

Currently all traffic lanes of east and westbound E. Fillmore Street are closed until further notice. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

This ETACS will be updated once lanes of traffic are open and the on scene investigation is completed.

Location
On Monday August 4th Officer Matt Kerr was dispatched to 555 North Chelton Rd reference a shoplift that had occurred the day before. Officer Kerr`s investigation showed that on Sunday August 3rd Grandmother, Trina Chavez-Hutchins brought her ten year old grandson and seven year old granddaughter to this location to shoplift. The grandmother and granddaughter are seen on store video selecting items and placing them into a basket. A witness sees grandmother run out the door of the store yelling at the grandkids to “run, hurry get in the car”. The witness obtained the license plate which led officers to the 4800 block of Live Oak Dr where they recovered approximately half of the $360.00 in items that were stolen. Ms. Chavez-Hutchins was arrested and charged with theft as well as the Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor which is a felony. DHS was also contacted about the incident.

On 08/04/14, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a possible child abuse incident. Detectives from the Crimes against Children Unit became involved in the investigation. During investigation it was alleged that the suspect, Lee Kizer, a 30 year old male was physically abusive to two juvenile males who he knew. Probable cause was established to arrest Mr. Kizer for the charges of Criminal Attempt Second Degree Murder, Crimes against At-Risk Juveniles, and Child Abuse. Mr. Kizer was taken into custody on 08/04/14.

On Monday, 08-04-2014, at 8:08PM, Sand Creek Division officers responded to a report of an intoxicated and suicidal male firing rounds from a handgun in a neighborhood in the 4500 block of Hollyridge Drive.

Upon arrival, officers set up containment on the residence and, upon receiving information the male was passed out inside, made entry into the residence and arrested the male without incident.

Ensuing investigation revealed the male had become upset earlier in the evening, retrieved a handgun from his residence, stepped into the front yard and fired the handgun. At the time, there were several residents in the area and a birthday party being attended by several children was in progress.

The male was arrested and booked at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on firearms-related charges.
