On Saturday, December 28, 2013 at approximately 10:00 am, Gold Hill Patrol Officers were dispatched to N.7th. St at W. Bijou St. to assist medical personnel with a female patient who had been assaulted. Violent Crimes responded and conducted the on-scene and follow up investigation.

On Friday, January 3, 2014 at about 6:47PM, suspect Hamilton Sullivan was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on the charges of 1st degree Kidnapping and Attempted 1st degree Murder.

The remaining suspect, Jorge Luis Pilo Hernandez remains at large and should be considered Armed and Dangerous.

Officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Buckeye Dr. A female victim came home and was confronted by a male inside her home. The male pointed a handgun at the victim and asked about the possibility of anyone else coming home. He moved to the upper level of the home, which allowed the victim to escape the home safely.

Officers from Falcon, Stetson Hills and the K9 unit contained the home and conducted a search. The suspect was not located. Other neighborhood homes were checked for signs of entry, but no additional victims were located.

The suspect was described as a white male, about 5'7", thin, with what appeared to be flannel sleep wear wrapped around his face as a mask.

Colorado Springs Police Department Property Crime Detectives with both the Falcon and Stetson Patrol Divisions have been investigating a series of daytime residential burglaries occurring throughout Colorado Springs. Suspects committing the crimes have been ringing the doorbell or knocking on the front door of the residences. When there is no answer, they go around to the back of the home and force entry through windows or doors. The investigation thus far has determined that 20 year old Gino Patrick Rael and associates of his have been committing these crimes. Gino Rael is a Hispanic male, 5’08” tall, 164 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. He has been observed by witnesses driving a late 80s or 90s white Subaru station wagon with unknown license plates. There are active Felony warrants for his arrest regarding this investigation.

Also wanted is 20 year old Nathaniel Flavio Gonzales, who is an associate of Gino Rael. Mr. Gonzales has a felony arrest warrant for False Information to a Pawn Broker relating to this investigation. He is a Hispanic male, approximately 5’07” tall, 105 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. Both Gino Rael and Nathaniel Gonzales should be considered armed and dangerous as weapons have been stolen during some of these crimes. Additional charges and arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.

The Warming Shelter Plan for the City of Colorado Springs was updated in October of 2013 and placed on the CSPD Home Page under Reference Docs and Manuals. The Springs Rescue Mission is open every day from November 15 to April 1. The overflow shelters are activated when the temperarture drops to 32 degrees or less. On 01/02/2014 Officers from the Sand Creek Division responded to a burglary alarm at the Tic Tock Shop located at 7 North Circle Drive. On Wednesday, January 01, 2014, at about 6:57AM, Officers of the Sand Creek Division of the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to 1430 Michelle Court in reference to a shots fired call.

Upon arrival, Officers located a 19 year old male victim who had suffered from an obvious gunshot wound and was deceased on the scene.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are in the early stages of the investigation and are conducting interviews with numerous witnesses and processing the scene.

At this time, there are no named suspects however, the subjects should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Police Department is looking for a suspect vehicle which has been described as a dark colored 90’s model Honda Civic. This vehicle has tinted windows and a loud exhaust. There is potentially damage to the windows of this vehicle as well.

On the above date and time officers responded to the 4100 block of Tulip Way in regard to a subject who was armed with a shotgun and was causing a disturbance. The caller indicated the subject pointed the shotgun at the caller as he was attempting to unlawfully enter the caller's home. The caller confronted the suspect, took the shotgun away from him, and then held the suspect down until the police arrived.

Investigation revealed the suspect thought there was an assault occurring in the house and he was attempting to intervene. Neither the victim nor any member of his family suffered injuries. It was determined that alcohol was a factor in this incident.

On 01/01/14 at approximately 0011 hours, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Gold Hill Division were dispatched to a residence in the 5000 block of Briscoglen Drive to investigate a stabbing and an assault. The investigation revealed that on this date the residents were having a large house party, during which a physical altercation took place in the basement portion of the home. While the exact details of the incident are unclear, at some point a 19 year old female resident of the home was assaulted and she later determined that she sustained a several inch long non-life threatening cut to her upper arm. At the same approximate time, another physical altercation was taking place outside the home involving a group of party-goers. During this second altercation a 20 year old male party-goer was assaulted with some sort of hard object that also caused a several inch long, non-life threatening cut to his cheek. Both victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. At this time officers are still working to develop suspect descriptions.

On 12/31/13 the Colorado Springs Police Department received several calls reporting gun shots in the Deerfield Hills park. A call was then received from the residents of 3250 Monica Dr. West stating that a single round had entered their home. Officers responded and determined that a round had entered the home from the direction of the park, but no one in the home was injured.

Area was searched for suspects, however none were contacted.

On 12/30/13 at 11:50pm, Officers with the Sand Creek Division responded to a disturbance at the intersection of Rainier Dr and Royale Dr. Upon arrival, a 48 year old male was found unconscious. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives with the CSPD Violent Crimes Section responded and are investigating this incident. Detectives believe that all parties involved in this incident have been identified and contacted. They are still working hard to determine what occurred. Investigators do not believe there is a danger to the public at this time.
The deceased male has been identified as 48 year old Arthur Garcia Jr., a resident of Colorado Springs.
The Coroner’s Office has ruled the cause of death was a heart attack and manner of death is still open pending further investigation by the Violent Crimes Detectives in conjunction with the Coroner’s Office.
Nothing more will be released at this time.
