On 02-17-16 at approximately 1536 hours, Gold Hill Impact Team Officers were in the area of 1700 South Nevada Avenue and located a reported stolen vehicle out of Manitou Springs, in a motel parking lot. Officers tried to contain the vehicle in the parking lot; however the driver attempted to drive over a small brick wall and through some landscaping to get around the containment, causing the vehicle to high center. A foot chase ensued and within minutes the two passengers were detained. The driver was apprehended a short time later. Arrested for Motor Vehicle Theft was Justin Busick (27), Sean Mantz (21) on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant and Corina Summers (23) for Failure to Desist or Disperse. The investigation continues.

UPDATE: On 02-18-16 Gold Hill Patrol Officers were dispatched to the Hobby Lobby at 525 South 8th Street regarding a wanted female. Officers learned the female, identified as Josefina Summers (21), had given officers her sisters name, Corina Summers, the previous evening after a short foot pursuit. It was determined Josefina had an active felony warrant. Additionally Josefina was charged with Attempt to Influence a Public Official and Criminal Impersonation and Transported to CJC.

Location
On February 17th, officers from the Stetson Hills Division responded to a report of a menacing call for service involving a handgun. The reporting party was an inspector from the Regional Building Department who was on the scene attempting to inspect a recent roof installation. The inspector attempted to contact the resident at the front door. The homeowner opened the door and threatened the inspector with a handgun. Officers initiated contact with the homeowner and took him into custody without incident. He was arrested for Felony Menacing and Prohibited Use of Weapons and was transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

On 2/16/2016 at 1800 hours, Officer Balka from the Gold Hill Impact Team, located a stolen vehicle in the 4000 block of Creek Legend View. Officer Balka notified the on-call Auto Theft Unit, who responded to the scene. The stolen vehicle was identified in a recent crime pattern of BMV’s and ID thefts, by Detective O’Connor.

The Auto Theft Unit followed the stolen vehicle to the north side of Colorado Springs. The stolen vehicle ended up parked in a marked space in the parking lot of the Sports Authority Store, located at 7730 N. Academy Bl.

Detectives observed a white female wearing a black jacket, white shirt and blue jeans, exit the driver's seat of the stolen vehicle and walk into the Sports Authority Store.

At 2025 hours, Detectives made contact with this female while she was shopping in the store. The female was identified as Tiffany Ann Zalen–McMahon (34).

She was transported to the Criminal Justice Center on the charges of Motor Vehicle Theft and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On February 16th, Officers from the Stetson Hills and Falcon Divisions responded to a reported robbery in progress at the TCF Bank. The investigation revealed that an unknown male suspect entered the bank and demanded money. He fled the scene in a vehicle that was later found unoccupied a short distance away from the bank. The robbery is currently being investigated by the CSPD Robbery Unit.

The suspect is described as a male, probably in his 20's, 5'08" to 6"00" tall with a medium build. He wore dark clothing, sunglasses, gloves and a mask.

Officers were dispatched to Penrose St. Francis Medical Center to investigate a report that a male had been shot in the leg. It was reported the shooting was accidental. Investigation revealed there were multiple dogs living in the home and that some of dogs were known to be aggressive. While the homeowners were attempting to prevent one of the dogs from attacking another, the male's girlfriend shot the aggressive dog, accidentally also striking the male in the leg with the shot.

The male sustained relatively minor injuries. The dog in the residence was deceased. The female was charged with Reckless Endangerment. The Humane Society is conducting an on-going investigation.

500 Block N. Sheridan Avenue

On the above date and time, Gold Hill Officers were dispatched to a suspicious male that had left a vehicle, described as an older black Volkswagen Beetle, in front of a residence in the 500 block of north Sheridan Avenue. Upon arrival they located an unoccupied 60’s model Volkswagen Beetle convertible with no license plates. The officers located the suspicious male walking in an alley in the 600 block of Sheridan Avenue. Upon contact with the male he fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the male was taken into custody and found to be in possession of illegal controlled substances, items consistent with Identity crimes, and burglary tools. The male was also found to have two unassociated felony arrest warrants. He was later transported to CJC reference the above mentioned crimes and the outstanding arrest warrants.

On 02/15/16, at approximately 0105 hours, officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the 1000 block of S Chelton Rd to investigate a shots fired call for service. Several additional calls were received regarding the shots fired.
Officers checked the apartment complex and through investigative efforts, determined the location of where the shots originated from. Officers made contact with 29 year old Andrew MacDonald at an apartment who currently had in his possession and handgun. The male party was taken into custody without further incident, charged with Prohibited Use of Weapons and transported to the Criminal Justice Center. Evidence was collected from the apartment further indicating the shots were fired inside. There were no reported injuries to other residents.

On February 15, 2016, Officer E. Green was doing traffic enforcement in a DDACTS zone when she pulled over a vehicle for speeding. The driver of the vehicle, Leontez Clarke-Abram, had multiple felony warrants for his arrest. Mr. Clarke-Abram decided to abscond from the traffic stop into the adjacent drainage ditch. A perimeter was established, and a subsequent K-9 search by Officer M. Keller yielded a positive result for Mr. Clarke-Abram and he was taken into custody.

On Sunday, 02/14/16, at approximately 0010 hours, Gold Hill Patrol Officers responded to a single vehicle traffic accident involving a fatality in the northbound lanes at I-25 and W. Fontanero Street. The investigation is ongoing at this time and investigators from the Major Accident Unit (MAU) are responding to assist with the investigation. The number two (2) and three (3) lanes of traffic northbound are closed at this time just south of the accident location. The inside northbound number one (1) lane of travel is open.
