Disturbance
Title
3300 E. Fountain Blvd
Location
Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 3300 block of E. Fountain Blvd to investigate a domestic disturbance. Officers contacted the female half of the disturbance who told officers that the disturbance was a verbal argument and that the male half had left the apartment. The female allowed officers into the apartment and they found the male half hiding in a bathroom.

A brief physical altercation occurred between the officers and the male half inside the apartment, and the male then ran out of the apartment into the main hallway of the building. The officers followed and tackled the male in the hallway. During this physical altercation, one of the officers was struck in the face by the male suspect. As the physical altercation continued, two pit bulls that had been in the apartment charged at the officers, biting one of the officers on the arm and on the leg. The male then fled the apartment building and ran into a nearby neighborhood. Officers checked that neighborhood but the male was not found.
Both officers drove themselves to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

As officers were leaving the hospital they received information that the male was back at the original apartment. Other officers went to that apartment and took the male into custody. The male was identified as Michael Darby. He was arrested and taken to CJC on the charges of Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, Obstruction, and Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
The dogs were not injured.
