Title
Woodland Hills Road Closure due to traffic crash
Location
***Update**** At 9:25PM, Colorado Springs Utilities was able to repair the utility box and repair the traffic control signal lights. All are operating normally. All traffic lanes are open.
Westbound traffic on Woodland Hills from Rangewood to Union has been closed to allow utility crews to repair a damaged electrical box that was destroyed as a result of a single car traffic crash.
The driver involved in the accident was not injured and was cited for Careless Driving. Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the accident.
In addition to the road closure, the traffic control signal at Rangewood and Woodland Hills is completely out. Until repairs are completed, the intersection will be treated as a four-way stop. City barricades will be placing stop signs and traffic control equipment at that intersection within the next 40 minutes (by approximately 9:20pm).
Utilities estimates that the repair to the box will take approximately 2 hours and are hoping to open the roadway by 11:30pm...but that is only an estimate.
The traffic light is dependent on restoration of power and its repair timeline is currently unknown.
Drivers should use caution when driving through area, watching for repair crews and should treat uncontrolled intersections as full four-way stops.
This etacs will be updated when the road is opened and the light is repaired.
