5300 N. Nevada Ave

On Monday May 25th, 2015 approx. 5:10PM, officers of the Colorado Springs Police Dept. Falcon Div. responded to the Traderís Joes, 5300 N. Nevada Ave, regarding a theft of a purse. Upon arrival, officers learned that a suspect took a purse from the victim while she was shopping and ran out the front door. Several customers pursued the suspect on foot. The suspect threw the purse away outside once he realized he was being chased. The victim recovered her purse and all the items inside. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. An alert security guard from the University Village shopping center told officers he saw a male matching the suspectís description in the area behind Lowes. Officers flooded the area and located the suspect. The suspect attempted to run from officers but was taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries as a result of this incident. The suspect was taken to El Paso County Criminal Justice Center and booked into for Theft from a Person.

During follow-up investigation Detectives from the Violent Crimes Section were able to identify the shooting suspect from this incident.

Following identification Detectives located and arrested one adult suspect identified as;
Stephanie Gonzalez, a 25 Yr. Old female, who was visiting Colorado Springs from the State of Virginia.

Gonzalez is in custody for Attempted Murder in the First Degree and will be booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center following processing.

The adult male victim is still receiving treatment at a local hospital and is currently listed in Critical / Stable Condition.

Although we see no further threat to the community this Investigation continues and anyone with information from this incident is asked to call 444-7000 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

Officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Champagne Room, 3113 S. Academy Bl, where one male had been shot. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for life threatening injuries. The victim is in critical but stable condition. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Ė Homicide Unit responded to conduct an investigation. At this time, a suspect has not been identified. Multiple witnesses were interviewed; however, several people left the area prior to being identified. Detectives are wishing to talk to anyone who was in the area but was not interviewed. On 05/24/15 Sand Creek Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of S. Chelton Rd for a report of shots fired. Investigation revealed that several parties were asked to leave a party. Peterson Road has been opened.


On Saturday, 05-23-15, at approximately 3:07 a.m., a call for service was received regarding a roll-over traffic accident with one party ejected from the vehicle. The traffic accident occurred in the 3800 block of Peterson Rd., just north of N. Carefree Cr. When medical personnel arrived, they located a single male, ejected from the vehicle and deceased. The vehicle had veered off the west side of the roadway from the southbound lanes of traffic and into the property of the Hillsboro Condominiums on Riviera Grove. The vehicle struck one of the residential buildings causing significant structural damage to one of the units.

The Major Accident Unit responded to investigate. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor. No one else was injured.
The deceased male was determined to be the sole occupant of the vehicle. The identity of the deceased is not yet confirmed and will be released pending notification of next of kin.

The southbound lanes of Peterson Rd. were completely closed during the course of the investigation. As of this time, they are still closed.

On the above date and time officers of the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the area of 20 University Dr on a reported disturbance where a male was trying to run over a female with his car. Officers arrived on scene and detained the male suspect, spoke to the victim and other witnesses, and determined the male was in fact attempting to run over the female. The male was taken into custody for Attempted Murder (domestic violence related) and was later booked into CJC on that charge. The female sustained minor injuries from the incident but was never struck by the vehicle.

Location
Officers of the Sand Creek Division responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 2000 block of East Platte Avenue. A reporting person had seen an adult Caucasian male force open the door to the garage of a business and enter inside. A few moments later the male was seen exiting the garage carrying items. Officers quickly moved into the area and began a systematic search for the suspect. The officers found a male matching the suspect description less than one hour after the receiving the report of the burglary. Mark Miller, 32 years old was taken into custody without incident and charged with Second Degree Burglary a class four felony. Alert citizens in the area were invaluable in assisting the investigating officers and bringing this to a successful resolution.

At 6:17AM The Colorado Springs Police Department communications section received a 911 call regarding possible shots fired in the 2600 block of W. Cimarron Rd.

Officers responded to the area and identified an unoccupied vehicle that appeared to have been struck multiple times by weaponís fire.
