On 2/17/18 at approx. 3:38 PM, Officers from the Sandcreek Division were dispatched to the area of S. Parkside Dr. and S. Union Bl. To investigate a reported Auto-pedestrian traffic accident. When Officers arrived on scene a pedestrian was found on the ground being treated my CSFD and AMR personnel. A juvenile male pedestrian had severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A Traffic Accident investigation was completed and roadways were back open at the time of this report.

*Update: While executing the search warrant probable cause was established to arrest Mr. Kiley for weapons, explosives, and narcotics related charges.

At approximately 2200 hours on 02-16-2018 the Colorado Springs Police Department received multiple calls regarding a possible explosion in the 700 block of E. Vermijo Ave. When officers arrived on scene, there was smoke coming from a home in the area. A male party who had been in the residence was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. At the time of this writing the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Explosives Unit and the ATF are conducting an investigation. Although there is no danger to the community, the public is advised to avoid the area as multiple agencies are conducting an investigation and the following intersections are closed:
E. Vermijo at El Paso
E. Vermijo at Institute
Prospect at E. Costilla
Prospect at Cucharras

On 02/16/18 at approximately 2355 hours the victim parked his vehicle and was walking up to his apartment building when an unknown suspect approached him with a firearm and demanded his keys. The suspect fired a round in the victims direction and took the keys from him. He then left in the victims vehicle, a blue Ford Mustang northbound on Academy Blvd. A responding falcon officer spotted the vehicle in the area of N. Academy Blvd./Union Blvd and initiated a pursuit. The pursuit was terminated in the area of Fillmore St/N. Hancock Ave. No injuries were reported. Suspect not identified at this time.

On 02/16/18, Falcon officers were dispatched to the Days Inn for a report of a robbery. The clerk at Days Inn reported that 2 males entered the hotel lobby and struck him with what he reported was a mailbox. The suspects then took an unknown amount of money and fled the hotel in an unknown direction. Upon arrival officers discovered the clerk had been struck with a ceramic mailbox that was on the counter. The clerk was taken to the hospital and treated for lacerations to his ear and head. No weapons were displayed during the robbery.

On 02/16/18, at approximately 1406 hours, the Colorado Springs Police Department was advised of a single car traffic accident that occurred in the 800 block of E. Platte Ave. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling east on Platte Ave and subsequently rolled. Some of the vehicle occupants were ejected, none suffered life threatening injuries. As a result, the Major Accident Unit responded and assumed investigation. Platte Ave from N. Institute and N. Prospect was shut down for a period of time as a result of the accident.

On 2/14/18 at 2239 hours officers from the Gold Hill Division were dispatched to Memorial Hospital, 1400 E Boulder St, regarding a stabbing victim. The victim, a 55 year old male, said he had putting air in his tires at the 7-11 store located at E Willamette and N Union Blvd around 2130 or 2200 hours on 2/14/18. He said he was approached by 2 males who started fighting with him. One of the males stabbed him in his upper right arm. Both males then ran from the scene. The victim made his way to Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was treated and released. There is no suspect information.

On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, detectives from the Metro Vice, Narcotics, & Intelligence Division (MVNI) in conjunction with deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department Rural Enforcement & Outreach unit conducted a knock and talk at a residence in the 12000 block of Catch Pen Road, which is located in unincorporated El Paso County. During contact with the tenant, detectives established enough probable cause to secure the residence and apply for a search warrant.

During a search of the residence, detectives discovered a fully functional marijuana grow operation in the basement. The basement contained 57 large marijuana plants growing in one large room that had been converted from a family room to a grow operation. Investigators also recovered evidence to suggest that the tenants were involved in credit card fraud and identification theft.

Detectives took the male tenant into custody and booked him into CJC for felony cultivation and identification fraud.

This investigation began after received MVNI received numerous anonymous complaints about the residence. Currently, MVNI has over 600 active marijuana tips throughout the City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, City of Fountain and Teller County.

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at approx. 1516 hours, an unknown suspect robbed the Dutch Brothers Coffee shop at 4320 Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs. The suspect, identified as a male of either White or Hispanic descent, approx. 5' 11" tall, wearing a snowboarding style mask and a blonde and red wig, and armed with a silver handgun with a black handle, entered the rear of the coffee shop and demanded money. The suspect then fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash in a blue Subaru Impreza. Investigation is ongoing and no suspect has been identified as of this time.

On Wednesday, 2/14/18, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the driver of a Toyota 4-Runner was making a turn from NB 16th to WB Colorado when a pedestrian entered the roadway from the north side of the intersection. The SUV struck the man with the front right of the car. The police were called and the walker was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for facial injuries. The pedestrian was charged with a "jaywalking-related" charge.

Officers were dispatched to a store in the 2800 block of South Academy Bl. in regard to disturbance. Officers received information that the suspect ran northbound from the scene and was in possession of a handgun. Officers observed the suspect in the area of an apartment complex and set up containment. Officer located a handgun and clothing belonging to the suspect. A K9 team was called and officer searched for the suspect. The male was eventually located hiding underneath a trampoline behind a six foot fence. The suspect, Thomas Ivery was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with possession of a weapon by a previous offender. Thank you to the public who assisted in pointing out the direction the suspect ran when he fled the scene.
