The roadway is open, however, the hills going up Austin Bluffs toward UCCS in both directions still remain very icy. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Eastbound Austin Bluffs at N Nevada Ave is temporarily closed due to the deteriorating road conditions. The road will remain closed until the stalled vehicles can be removed and snow plows can safetly sand the hill.

Drivers are reminded that CSPD is on accident alert and should refrain from driving tonight if possible.

3826 Bloomington St; Office Max
Location
On 4/13/14 at approximately 4:58PM officers were dispatched to the Office Max store located at 3826 Bloomington St regarding a robbery that had occurred 45 minutes earlier.

The investgation revealed a suspect entered the Office Max store around 5pm. The suspect made his way to the laptop display. While he was in the laptop aisle, the employees heard the laptop alarms go off, indicating the security cable on the laptop had been cut.

The suspect began running for the front door carrying two laptops. An employee moved stop the suspect when he used the laptops against the employee to keep her from stopping him. The employee suffered minor injuries.

A second employee attempted to intercept the suspect at the door. The suspect menaced the second employee with a screwdriver type tool before running out the front door. The second employee was not injured.

The suspect ran to a small red Honda hatchback, similar to a Honda CRX. The vehicle had a temporary license plate. The vehicle was last seen north bound on Powers Blvd.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 26 years of age; 6'01 to 6'06 tall with a thin build and some facial hair; last seen wearing a black hoodie, black designer jeans, and a black beanie.

Officers checked the area, but were not able to locate the suspect vehicle or suspects.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is on Accident Alert status as of April 13, 2014, at 7:30 PM due to road conditions. Drivers are reminded if they are involved in a traffic accident with no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange information and follow the procedure for completing a counter (cold) report. Drivers can either pick up a traffic accident report form at any of the police department substations or they can go on line at Springsgov.com and go to the CSPD homepage/Forms & Documents/Counter Reporting. Drivers should also be reminded to take the appropriate steps to avoid being involved in a traffic accident during adverse weather and road conditions. Drivers should check road and travel conditions before heading out and leave more time to get to their destination. Drivers need to travel at a safe speed for the conditions and leave an increased and safe following distance from the vehicle in front of them. Drivers should use streets and roadways less hazardous in winter driving conditions. Drivers also need to remove snow and ice obstructing their vision and have adequate snow tires on their vehicles

Sunday morning, about 1:30, motorists reported a pickup truck driving off the roadway of the SB exit of I-25 at the Martin Luther King Bypass and involved in a single-car rollover accident. Upon arrival, Officers observed a 28 year-old man had been ejected from the small truck as a result of the rollover. The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle was quickly transported to a local hospital. Alcohol and vehicle speed were factors in the crash. The driver was reported to be in critical condition. The driver's name is not being released pending notification of family.

Sunday morning, April 13, 2014, at 3:43 AM, the police department received a telephone call regarding two persons opening car doors in the 700 block of East Fountain Boulevard. Two juvenile males were later contacted and found in possession of items removed from at least two vehicles. As there were several items that did not belong to the victims who were located, there may be additional victims in the neighborhood that are missing items from their unlocked vehicles. On the above date and time, Falcon division officers were dispatched to 5331 Montebello Ln., Hookah Springs Two in regard to shots fired. The communications center received multiple calls from citizens reporting shots fired in the parking lot in front of the business. Officers arrived and located numerous shell casings. Several people were contacted on scene and were uncooperative. Investigation revealed two possible suspect vehicles: a white newer model full size Nissan pick-up truck and a gray or silver mid-size Nissan sedan. There was no property damage and no injuries reported at this time. Investigation is continuing.

Officers were dispatched to a possible shooting in the 3000 block of W. Colorado Ave. The initial investigation revealed that a 33 year old female had suffered from a wound in the head. On 04-11-14 at approximately 1636 hours, Sand Creek Officers responded to a neighborhood disturbance in the area of Ruskin Dr. and Airport Road. The investigation revealed a verbal argument between neighbors that led to one neighbor having an apartment window broken out with a rock. Five individuals were arrested on misdemeanor charges to include three adults (Disorderly Conduct), one juveniles (Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Mischief) and one juvenile for an unrelated shoplifting summons. Three of the five individuals arrested are gang involved.

Location
The Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a personal robbery that had just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and contacted an adult male victim. The victim told officers that a Hispanic or Black male, 20 – 30 years old, 5’6” and wearing dark “hoodie” type jacket asked for assistance. When the victim began to help, the male threatened the victim with a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied with the demand. The suspect fled south from the scene on foot. Officers canvassed the area but were not able to locate the suspect.
