Suspicious Circumstances
Title
2500 block Farragut Avenue
Location
Officer Heule investigated a reported phone scam that has occurred on two seperate incidents. The suspect is a male caller who says he is Lieutenant Carl Felton (also used the name of Carl Shelton) with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. He then tells the victim that they missed a Jury Duty subponea. The suspect tells the victim that they need to wire money (over $900 dollars)to clear up the matter, and that if the money is not wired, Deputies will be sent to the home to arrest the victim. In these two cases the suspect posing as an EPSO Lieutenant knew the addresses of his victims. The Sheriff's office has NO such procedures as described and this is clearly a phone scam. Anyone receiving similar calls are encouraged to call the Colorado Springs Police at 444-7000 to report the incident.
