200 Block N Academy Blvd

On 06/17/13 at approximately 9:06PM the Colorado Springs Police Department received a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the area of E Bijou St and N Academy Blvd. The caller said they were in a black SUV and he could see the car dealership nearby.

Officers eventually located the victim, caller, and other witnesses in a parking lot in the 200 block of N Academy Blvd.

The witnesses said they had been near La Vaca Chondo, 219 N Academy Blvd. The suspect arrived in a different vehicle. The suspect and victim argued in the parking lot before the suspect stabbed the victim one time in the neck.

The victim jumped back in his car and they drove north through the parking lot where they parked and called the police.

The victim, a 24 year old male, was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injury. The victim was admitted for observation; however, the injury does not appear to be life threatening.

No suspect information is available at this time.

North Douglas Creek Culvert

Today the National Weather Service issued a Significant Weather Advisory for El Paso County which indicated that up to .2 of inch of rain was expected over the Waldo Canyon Burn Scar. At approximately 1500 hours Officer Tyson located four juveniles in the North Douglas
Creek culvert playing in fast moving water, which was about 2-3 inches deep. After the juveniles climbed out of the culvert, Officer Tyson warned them about the dangers of flash flooding. If you have the opportunity, even on sunny days, please check for kids playing in the culverts and creeks in your sectors.

On June 8, 2013, officers from the Sand Creek Division CET team conducted a traffic stop on a female driver. During the stop, officers found that the female was in possession of numerous forged checks. The female was arrested for numerous outstanding warrants and for being in possession of the forged checks. This investigation is covered under ETAC #18274.

CET officers conducted additional follow-up and developed enough information to apply for a series of search warrants.

On June 17, 2013, a group of officers and detectives from the Financial Crimes executed two separate search warrants on two different locations.

The officers recovered stolen items and numerous laptop computers which contained evidence of identity theft. One male party was taken into custody for being in possession of Methamphetamine.

On 6/17/13 at approximately 12:49AM Officer Varnell and Officer White were dispatched to the area of Mountain Av and Tower Rd regarding two males trying to break into cars and/or steal cars.

While the officers were checking the area, they located a stolen Dodge Durango parked in the area. The reporting party called to say she could see the two males back in the area. Officer Varnell and Officer White located the two males at Mountain Av and Tower Rd.

The reporting party identified the two males detained by Officer White And Officer Varnell as the two males she saw trying car doors. The reporting party also saw one of the males enter a vehicle parked on Tower Rd.

Thomas Copeland, a 24 year old male, and James Adamson, a 19 year old male, were were arrested for 1st Degree Criminal Trespass and Conspiracy. The incident is still under investigation and additional victims may be identified.

Officers of the Falcon Division were dispatched to the area of Centennial Bl and Vindicator Dr to investigate a reported roll over traffic crash. Investigation revealed a single vehicle was traveling southbound on Centennial Bl at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center median, flipping onto its roof and ejecting the driver. The investigation is continuing at this time. Centennial Bl is shut down southbound from Vindicator Dr and northbound from Crested Butte Cir. Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

UPDATE: As of 3:06AM all lanes of northbound and southbound Centennial Bl are opened for through traffic.

3003 Mallard Dr.

On 06/15/2013 at approximately 9:27 PM Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to 3003 Mallard Dr in regards to a shooting. Initial information received was the fact that a lone male had been shot and a suspect was seen fleeing the area. When officers arrived they found the victim lying on the sidewalk being tended to by members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department medical personnel. The victim was transported to a local hospital with a single gunshot wound to the chest. As of the time of this writing the investigation is still ongoing. Once at the hospital it was determined that the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

On 06/15/2013 Officers responded to the 2100 block of Boston Terrace reference a family disturbance. A male and female were involved in a fight, the female acquired a knife and stabbed the male in the arm and chest. This was not a domestic violence incident. He ran to a neighbor's house and was provided medical attention until AMR arrived. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for a knife wound. The female was taken to a local hospital, treated for minor injuries and will be transported to the Criminal Justice Center.

18 Wolfe Ave.

On Saturday 06/15/2013 at 1300 hours, Patrol Officers from the Gold Hill Division were dispatched to 18 Wolfe Ave., to check the welfare of the elderly female resident, who had not been seen by neighbors during the past four days. Officers were able to gain entry into the residence with assistance from the landlord. The elderly female resident was found deceased inside the residence. A Deputy from the El Paso County Coroner's Office did respond to the scene to assist with the investigation. Foul play is not suspected. At the conclusion of the on scene investigation, the Coroner's Office maintained control of the deceased, and will make proper notifications to family members.

4000 E Airport Rd.

On 06/14/2013 at approximately 10:42 PM officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the area of 4000 E Airport Rd in regards to a traffic accident. Upon officers arrival they discovered multiple vehicles involved in the accident which required both directions of Airport Rd to be closed. Airport Rd was closed from Ruskin Dr to approximately the 4100 block of Airport RD. Investigation revealed that a Chevy truck was east bound on Airport when the driver of the truck swerved and struck a west bound white sedan. After striking the sedan the Chevy truck continued east crossing the center line and striking a blue Dodge Durango head on. At the time of this investigation injuries are minor however drivers from the two struck vehicles were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the Chevy truck fled the scene on foot prior to officer’s arrival. At the completion of the accident investigation both directions of Airport Rd were re-opened.
