On the above date and time, Sand Creek officers were dispatched to a shooting near the 3600 block of Pacific Ave. Officers arrived on scene and contacted a 32 year old male with a gunshot wound. The victim stated he was working on his stalled motorcycle near Roy Benavidez Park when he was approached by an unknown male suspect. The suspect attempted to strike the victim and a fight ensued. During the physical altercation, the suspect shot the victim in the lower abdomen. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and his injuries are non-life threatening. Officers checked the area but did not locate the suspect. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing. This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

Location
Officers were dispatched to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of South Chelton Road. Upon arrival on scene it was determined that the victim had left the area in a vehicle. The victim was contacted by officers at Memorial Hospital with injuries consistent with having been shot with a shotgun. The injuries consisted of multiple pellets to the left side of the body. The victim was a 23 year old Black male. There is no suspect information at this time. There is no danger to the public at this time.

On Wednesday 10/18/2017 at 12:45pm a shooting was reported at East Boulder Street and North Corona Street. The shooting victim, a juvenile male, was found in the street and transported to a local hospital. He sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Nearby schools were placed on lock down for a couple of hours.

A search immediately ensued by responding Colorado Springs Police Officers and a juvenile male suspect was contacted nearby. He was found to have an Arrest Warrant for Motor Vehicle Theft and is now in custody.

Detectives from the Felony Assault Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The investigation is ongoing. The public is being asked to provide any additional information they may be aware of in regards to this shooting. You may call the Colorado Springs Police Department Dispatch at 444-7000.

UPDATE: October 18, 2017 {Release at Will}

On September 22, 2017, officers responded to a shooting in the 4600 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway, which is located across the street from Doherty High School. Investigation of the shooting by the Violent Crimes Section led to the issuance of arrest warrants for two juvenile suspects on September 26, 2017.

On October 16, 2017, one of the identified juveniles was taken into custody without incident after a vehicle he was in was followed to a business address in Manitou Springs. On October 17, 2017, Officers J. Mitchell and D. Summey, along with Task Force Officers from FBI Safe Streets, conducted surveillance on addresses identified through the investigation. At approximately 3:30 PM, the second wanted juvenile was observed at an address near the intersection of Galley Road and Chelton Road. The second juvenile suspect was observed getting into a vehicle that was followed to a parking lot area of the Citadel Mall. Upon the vehicle parking in the lot, the second juvenile subject was taken into custody without incident.

Both individuals identified in this investigation are 16 year old males, and each is being charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.

On the above date and time, Officers of the Falcon Division of the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of East Woodmen Road, the Villages at Woodmen apartments, to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located two individuals that had sustained non-life threatening injuries. The victim, a 27 year old female was in bed with her two children when the suspect entered the room and fired two rounds striking her in the arm and her 1 year old child in the hand. Both parties were transported to an area hospital where they are currently being treated for those injuries but are expected to make a full recovery. After the shots were fired, the suspect then exited the room and then suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound which was fatal.
Officers are currently completing the investigation which includes collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

At approximately 2225 hours, on 10/17/2017, officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Queen Anne Way for a reported in-progress burglary. As officers drove into the area, a 23 year old male suspect was observed running from the area of the reported incident. A short foot-chase followed, but the suspect was eventually caught by officers. While attempting to take the suspect into custody, the suspect kicked one officer in the head and struck a second officer in the face. The suspect was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Criminal Justice Center for felony and misdemeanor charges of Second Degree Assault, Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest. The two officers were treated and released at a local hospital for minor injuries related to the arrest.

On 10-17-2017 between the hours of 12:00AM and 3:00AM there was a string of burglaries along Academy Blvd. All 4 divisions where affected. Two juvenile suspects dressed in black hooded sweat shirts and wearing red latex gloves used a pry tool to enter businesses. Suspects fled in a light colored mini-van within minutes of breaking into the businesses. Officer Sunderlin spotted a light blue Dodge mini-van driven by a male in a black hooded sweatshirt and red latex gloves traveling north on I-25. Officer Sunderlin attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle description was given to surrounding agencies. Douglas County Sheriff Deputies located the vehicle and were able to disable it. Deputies apprehended the suspects and recovered numerous items of evidence linking the suspects to multiple burglaries along the Front Range.

*****UPDATE***** On October 17, 2017, the El Paso County Coronerís Office completed the autopsies on the deceased juvenile female and male, who were found stabbed in the 900 block of Carlisle Street. The deceased juveniles have been positively identified as 5-year-old Sophia Murphy and 7-year-old Noah Murphy both residents of Colorado Springs.
Sophia and Noahís deaths are the 22nd and 23rd homicides investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department this year. The City of Colorado Springs had 16 homicides at this time last year. This continues to be an active investigation.

***UPDATE:*** Arrested: 19 year old Malik Vincent Murphy, charged with two counts of First Degree Murder

On October 17, 2017, at approximately 1:11 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 900 block of Carlisle Street on a reported stabbing. When officers arrived on scene they discovered three victims with apparent stab wounds. All three victims were transported to area hospitals. A 5 year old female and a 7 year old male later died from their injuries. An adult male is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is a 19 year old male and is in custody. Detectives are not looking for additional suspects.

The Colorado Springs Police Departmentís Violent Crimes Section, Homicide Unit, responded to the scene and initiated a death investigation. This is still a very active scene.

On September 22, 2017, Officers responded to the 4600 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway on the report of a shooting, which occurred across the street from Doherty High School. Through the initial response and investigative follow-up, arrest warrants were issued for two juvenile suspects on September 26, 2017, and diligent efforts have been taken by various units from the Colorado Springs Police Department, as well as the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, to locate the two suspects and take them into custody. On the afternoon of October 16, 2017, one of the suspects was observed getting into a car near the area of Academy Blvd and Austin Bluffs Parkway, and it was followed to a location in Manitou Springs where the suspect was taken into custody without incident. At this time, the second juvenile subject remains at large.
