    Things to See and Do While Visiting Colorado Springs

There are so many things to see and do in our area that we can only list a few. Therefore, we are providing links to other sites (scroll to the bottom) which provide more activities and local attractions.

  • Bear Creek Regional Park and Nature Center: Scenic hiking trails, wildlife displays. 719.520.6387
  • Buckskin Joe Frontier Town and Railway: U.S. Highway 50, eight miles from Canon City. A 160 acre Old West Theme Park. 719.275.5149
  • Cave of the Winds - Laser Canyon: U.S. Highway 24 West in Manitou Springs. Cave tours daily. 719.685.5444
  • Cheyenne Mountain Zoological Park: Site of the Cheyenne Mtn Zoo, Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun and Russell Tutt Scenic Highway. The only zoo in the United States built entirely on a mountain. 719.633.9295

  • Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum: Located in the historic 1903 El Paso County Courthouse. 719.385.5990
  • Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad: Authentic 1890 steam locomotive pulls passenger cars on a four mile round trip through historic gold mining territory. 719.689.2640
  • Garden of the Gods: Registered 1,364 acre national natural landmark featuring unusual rock formations, trails and picnic areas. 719.634.6666
  • Glen Eyrie Castle: Castle built in 1905 on 700 acre estate of Colorado Springs founder Gen. William Jackson Palmer. 719.634.0808
  • Helen Hunt Falls: A 1,626 acre city-owned park bordering Pike National Forest -- picnic and walking trails. 719.385.6086
  • Iron Springs Chateau: A melodrama dinner theater. 719.685.5104
  • Manitou Cliff Dwellings Museum: Outdoor museum of reconstructed ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi) Indian cliff dwellings. 719.685.5242
  • McAllister House Museum: Built in 1873, see one of Colorado Springs oldest homes restored to its original Victorian elegance. Knowledgeable guides recreate the atmosphere of the early history of the family and city. 719.635.7925
  • Miramont Castle: Constructed in 1895 as a private home for Father Jean Baptist Francolon, a French born Catholic priest. The castle features nine styles of architecture ranging from English Tudor to Byzantine and all crafted from locally quarried greenstone and yellow pine framing. Today Miramont is a museum dedicated to preserving the Victorian heritage of the Pikes Peak region. 719.685.1011
  • Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine - Cripple Creek Historic Mining Town turned gambling town. Narrated guided tour to 1,000 feet underground in gold mine discovered in 1892. 719.689.2466

  • Pikes Peak Cog Railway: Three + hour round trip to Pikes Peak summit on highest railway in the United States. 719.685.5401

  • Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy: Multimedia presentations show how cowboys turned daily chores into competitive rodeo. 719.528.4764
  • Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site: An educational living history farm and museum, which depicts life in the Pikes Peak region in four time periods. 719.578.6777
  • Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center: Museum of Natural History with dinosaur exhibits, fossils, and three - dimensional casts made from fossil specimens. 719.686.1820
  • Royal Gorge Bridge: World's highest suspension bridge spans 1,200 foot gorge naturally carved out of the Arkansas River's granite. 719.275.7507
  • Santa's Workshop/North Pole: Christmas themed amusement park with rides, shops, Santa Claus and his elves. 719.684.9432
  • Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado SpringsSeven Falls: Canyon, waterfalls, 224 step stairway to mile long trail, site of author Helen Hunt Jackson's first grave. 719.632.0765

  • Van Briggle Pottery: Established in 1899, is one of the oldest active art potteries in the United States. Founded by Artus Van Briggle, of Holland Dutch descent, Van Briggle Pottery has been considered one of the great American art potteries for over a century. Free Tours. 800.847.6341

Castle Rock located 30 minutes to the north of Colorado Springs has an Outlet Mall with many wonderful shops providing a wide range of items for sale at outlet prices.

In addition, there are many museums, another zoo and attraction/water parks in Denver. Denver is only 50 minutes to the north.

A few hours to the north and east are Aspen, Breckenridge and many other ski areas and mountain hiking.
