AE contacted plan reviewer p.m. 4/16/13 to describe project scope. Note rep. had difficult understanding of project the splice was attached to as well.

FYIMED GAS SYSTEMS These requirements shall apply to all facilities described in Section 3006.1 of the 2009 International Fire Code. **The requirements of NFPA 99 current edition will apply to all piped Med Gas Systems, including Oxygen, Nitrogen Oxides, Waste Gas, Medical Air and Vacuum based on their LEVEL Designation (1, 2 or 3) as defined by NFPA 99, current ed. All Med Gas (piped) systems shall be installed and maintained in accordance with all applicable provisions of 2009 International Fire Code Chapters 27 (Hazardous Materials), 30 (Compressed Gases) and 40 (Oxidizers). **Oxidizing Cryogenic fluids shall comply with IFC 2009 Chapter 32 and NFPA 55. **All Med Gas (piped) systems that utilize a source of commonly located compressed gas cylinders as shall have all cylinders, related manifolding and electronics (if electronic monitoring required by NFPA 99) in a room that complies with 2009 IFC Section 3006 (or) gas cabinets that comply with 3006.3.
ISCOPE OF WORK 1ST FLOOR PROCEDURE ROOMS 1,2,3 & 4 MEDICAL AIR AND WAGD PLAN SHEETS MGO.1 MGO.2 & MGO.3 NECESSARY REPIPING OF MEDICAL GAS SYSTEM MEDICAL AIR/WAGD TO ADD MEDICAL AIR AND WASTE ANAESTHETIC GAS DISPOSAL OUTLETS AND PIPING TO REMEDIATE NON COMPLIANT PROCEDURE ROOMS. SHUT DOWNS/TIE IN AND RE CERTIFICATIONS CERTIFIED TEST AND BALANCE COMPANY WILL BE REQUIRE FOR ICRA, AND FINAL READ OF AIR FLOW /RETURN TO EACH SPACE AND PROVIDE REPORT FOR HOSPITAL DOCUMENTATION Per Plan Set: All work shall be in compliance with NFPA 99 Standards.
FYICHEMICAL INVENTORY, AS DECLARED Plan sheet MGO1 *** No impacts or changes to existing central supply source: bulk cryogenic oxygen tank exterior location. "This scope of work will not require any changes to the exiting facility source equipment, medical air, or vacuum plant, nitrous oxide manifold/storage or the cryogenic oxygen storage system." No other hazardous materials are expected other than what may be utilized during construction.
AttentionINSPECTIONS ATTENTION CONTRACTOR Medical Gas system piping installation requires MULTIPLE INSPECTIONS by the CSFD due to installation requirements and procedures. ALL PORTIONS OF PIPING SYSTEMS SHALL REQUIRE INSPECTION; no piping shall be sealed or concealed prior to inspection. Contact the CSFD Office of the Fire Marshal at 385-5978 for an inspection schedule for this project. All paperwork, documentation, installer/verifier certifications, and needed test equipment shall be available upon Inspector's request. Performance Testing is required per 5.1.12. Independent Testing for specific conformance to the requirements of NFPA 99 will be required. Performance testing documentation and inspection is subject to field verification by the Fire Inspector. *** 3rd Party Verification documentation is required and shall be provided to the Inspector at the time of Inspection. NFPA 5.1.12.4 *** Breached portions of the systems subject to inspection and testing shall be confined to only the specific altered zone and components in the immediate zone or area that is located upstream for vacuum systems and downstream for pressure gases at the point or area of intrusion. *** Systems shall be deemed breached at the point of pipeline intrusion by physical separation or by system component removal, replacement, or addition.
AttentionCREDENTIALS AND CERTIFICATIONS American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) Medical Gas Installer, Medical Gas Verifier and Brazing certification credentials, or documents shall be required prior to commencement of work, and on site and available AT ALL TIMES for inspection by the CSFD. CREDENTIALS SHALL BE CURRENT. Performance Testing is required per 5.1.12. Independent Testing for specific conformance to the requirements of NFPA 99 will be required. Performance testing documentation and inspection is subject to field verification by the Fire Inspector. *** 3rd Party Verification documentation is required and shall be provided to the Inspector at the time of Inspection.
AttentionATTENTION: CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE INSPECTOR: SPECIFICATIONS, DOCUMENTATION, LISTINGS, VERIFICATION BY 3RD PARTY TESTING. ANY FIELD MODICATIONS SHALL BE DOCUMENTED AND SUBMITTED ON ENGINEER STAMPED AS BUILT PLANS, AND RESUBMITTED TO THE CSFD AND/OR FIRE INSPECTOR.
AttentionHMMP - A Hazardous Materials Management Plan (HMMP) must be developed, submitted, and continuously maintained for this location. As of January 2008, the CSFD requires HMMP information to be reported on line in the CSFD HaMish website: http://csfd.springsgov.com/hamish/ **Memorial Hospital has been notified previously and is in the process of reporting all Hazardous Materials/HMMP data in the HaMish Website. Guidance on the format and required information for the HMMP can be found on the CSFD Web Site http://csfd.springsgov.com/hamish/and in an Information Packet available from the CSFD Office of the Fire Marshal.
FYILabeling - An NFPA 704 compliant Hazard Placard is required for each pedestrian entry door rooms containing hazardous materials in excess of the exempt amounts (this door could be interior or exterior) and all such doors shall be included. The minimum size of the Hazard Placard shall be 15" by 15". This requirement is subject to verification at the time of the Hazardous materials Inspection prior to signing the Fire Final. PIPE LABELING: Piping shall * be labeled by stencil or adhesive markers that identify the medical gas or vacuum system. * show the name of the gas/vacuum system or the chemical symbol. Pipe labels shall be located as follows: * At intervals of not more than 20 ft * At least once in or above every room * On both sides of walls or partitions penetrated by the piping * At least once in every story height traversed by risers Station Outlet and Inlets: Station outlets and inlets shall be identified as to the name or chemical symbol for the specific medical gas or vacuum provided. Shut off valves shall be identified * the name or chemical symbol for the specific medical gas or vacuum * the room or areas served * A caution to not close or open th evalve exept in emergency
