INSTALL ONE 100 LB CO2 CONTAINER IN CAGE EXTERIOR OF RESTARAUNT
You can access our web site for the latest fire department plan review comments:
1. From www.pprbd.org, select PLAN REVIEW then FIND PLANS next COLORADO SPRINGS
2. Scroll down to the correct address. You may then select APPROVED/DISAPPROVED to view comments associated with that particular project.
|FYI||This facility will store and fill the CO2 container on the exterior of the restaraunt adjacent to the building as shown on plan sheet.
***See redline comment for vehicle protection as noted per IFC 2009 Section 312
Please add Bollards due to the potential for the drive through vehicles at this location.
|FYI||ONE, 100 lb CARBON DIOXIDE VESSEL (CO2)
NFPA = 1-0-0 special = SA
TLV-TWAs, 5000 ppm (ACGIH, 2004)
TLV-TWA 15 MIN STEL 30,000 ppm
High Pressure liquid and gas. Can cause rapid suffocation....CO2 IS AN ASPHYXIANT
May cause frostbite.
****** ATTENTION *******
Indoor storage of compressed gases falling into categories such as asphyxiants, irritants can be hazardous regardless of the type of gas involved simply due to the hazards related to asphyxiation.
****THIS IS AN OUTDOOR INSTALLATION
NOTE: Storage areas where an accumulation of inert gas could occur should be continuously monitored with an appropriate alarm system to indicate an oxygen deficient atmosphere. (Recommended)
|Attention||ATTENTION EXTERIOR STORAGE REQUIREMENTS:
**Compressed gas containers, cylinders and tanks, whether full or partially full, shall not be exposed to artificially created high temperatures exceeding 125°F or sub-ambient (low) temperatures unless designed for use under the exposed conditions.
** Areas used for the storage, use and handling of compressed gas containers, cylinders, tanks and systems shall be secured against unauthorized entry and safeguarded in an approved manner.
** Compressed gas containers, cylinders, tanks and systems which could be exposed to physical damage shall be protected. Guard posts or other approved means shall be provided to protect compressed gas
containers, cylinders, tanks and systems indoors and out-doors from vehicular damage and shall comply with IFC 2009 Section 312.
** Labeling - An NFPA 704 compliant Hazard Placard is required for each pedestrian entry door rooms containing hazardous materials in excess of the exempt amounts (this door could be interior or exterior) and all such doors shall be included. The minimum size of the Hazard Placard shall be 15" by 15". This requirement is subject to verification at the time of the Hazardous materials Inspection prior to signing the Fire Final.|
Facilities shall declare the storage and use of small Insulated Carbon Dioxide Systems used in Beverage Dispensing.
Gaseous Carbon Dioxide is an asphyxiant gas and exposure to high concentrations may cause toxic effects including asphyxiation. To provide for the safety of building occupants and emergency personnel, ventilation in accordance with the IFC Sections 3007.2, 2704.3 or 2705.1.9 is required where concentrations of this gas are stored or present.
All new or proposed building ventilation system designs shall submit for review and permit approval to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.
THIS IS AN OUTDOOR INSTALLATION|
|Attention||THE CHEMICAL INVENTORY, AS DECLARED, DOES NOT EXCEED THE ALLOWABLE THRESHOLDS FOR THE ANNUAL HAZARDOUS MATERIALS OPERATIONAL PERMIT.
100 LB CO2 (inert/asphyxiant f ********** (permit threshold = 6,000 cf)
*** This facility is NOT required to apply for the Annual Hazardous Materials Operational Permit at the CSFD
*** To Schedule the hazardous materials construction inspection FOR THE CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY FINALS please contact the Division of the Fire Marshal @ 719-385-5978.

Warning signs shall be posed at each entrance to the room or enclosure where the bulk inert gas system is installed. Wording shall include:
WARNING ---(name of gas)
HIGH CONCENTRATION OF GAS MAY OCCUR
IN THIS AREA AND MAY CAUSE ASPHYXIATION.
VERIFY THAT OXYGEN CONCENTRATION IS ABOVE 19.5% BEFORE ENTERING
AND DURING ACTIVITY IN THIS AREA.|
|Attention||Piping shall be protected against physical damage.
Signage shall be provided for piping and hose systems as follows:
1. Above-ground piping systems shall be marked in
accordance with ANSI A13.1.
2. Station outlets shall be marked to indicate their intended
3. Signs shall be posted, indicating clearly the location and
identity of section shutoff valves.|
