| FYI | CERTIFICATION
Effective January 1, 2009, all UST installers must be certified by the International Code Council (ICC) IN U1-UST Installation/Retrofitting. Without this certification, contractors will not be allowed to perform an install/upgrade and all associated installation/upgrade, and all associated permit applications forms submitted to the State of Colorado Oil and Public Safety and Colorado Spring Fire Department will be denied.

| FYI | BREAKAWAY DEVICES - Dispensers hoses for Class I and II liquids shall be equipped with a listed emergency breakaway device designed to retain liquid on both sides of the breakaway point. |
| FYI | DISPENSER ELECTRICAL DISCONNECTS - An electrical disconnect switch shall be provided for all dispensers in accordance the Electric Code. |
| FYI | DISPENSING DEVICES - Dispensing devices shall be located as follows:
1) 10 Ten feet or more from property lines.
2) Ten feet or more from buildings having combustible exterior wall surfaces or buildings having noncombustible exterior wall surfaces that are not part off the one-hour fireresistive assembly.
3) Such that all portions of the vehicle being fueled will not be on the premises of the motor vehicle fuel dispensing station.
4) Such that the nozzle, when fully extended, will not reach within 5 feet of the building openings, and
5) Twenty feet or more from fixed sources of ignition.

| FYI | DISPENSER INSTALLATION - Dispensing devices shall be secured in an approved manner, Dispensers shall not be secured to the island using piping or conduit. |
| FYI | DISPENSER HOSE LENGTH - Dispenser hoses shall be a maximum of 18 feet in length unless approved. Dispensing hoses shall be listed and approved. When not in use, hoses shall be reeled, racked or otherwise protected from damage. |
| FYI | UST - LISTED EQUIPMENT
All equipment, machinery, and required detection and alarm system associated with the storage use or handling or hazardous materials shall be approved or listed. |
| FYI | UST - PHYSICAL PROTECTION OF EXPOSED EQUIPMENT
Exposed portions of storage tanks, connected piping, valves, and fittings subject to damage from vehicles shall be protected in accordance with all applicable provisions of the 2003 IFC. This includes vent piping. |
| FYI | UST - ELECTRICAL WIRING AND EQUIPMENT
Electrical wiring and equipment shall be installed to conform to the Electrical Code. |
| FYI | Tank dispensing - Emergency shutdown devices shall be provided for all fuel dispensers. Emergency shutdown devices for exterior fuel dispensers shall be located within 100 feet of, but not less than 20 feet from, dispensers. Activation of the emergency shutdown devices shall stop the transfer of fuel to the dispensers and close all valves which supply fuel to the dispensers. Such devices shall be distinctly labeled as EMERGENCY FUEL SHUTDOWN DEVICE. Signs shall be provided in location(s) visible to the operator during refueling. |
