FYI*****(STANDARD COMMENT 6) The fire sprinkler system is being installed by: WSFP This plan review is based on the requirements found within the 2003 Editions of the International Building Code, International Fire Code, and the 2007 editions of NFPA Standard 15 CSFD does not allow any combustibles into a building until a sprinkler system has passed it's final acceptance test performed by CSFD Inspector's.

FYI*****(STANDARD COMMENT 8) SCOPE OF WORK: Area/scope of work is ---REMOVE AND RE-INSTALL DELUGE SYSTEM FOR TRANSFORMER #5------of the building.
FYI*****(STANDARD COMMENT 10) WATER SUPPLY/SYSTEM DEMAND INFORMATION: The Water Flow Calculation show a water supply of having a 115- Static; 20- Residual; 4000- Flow. System Demand of 868- gpm at 98- psi is needed at the HYDRANT All hydraulic designed systems are to have the Hydraulic Placard information sign secured to the sprinkler riser.
FYI(13) The FDC is existing and will not be affected by this project.
FYI(13) FLUSH AND HYDROSTATIC TESTING Underground flushing and the required 200 psi pressure test of the lead-in piping is to be completed and approved prior to connecting the riser to the underground mains and/or lead-ins. The flushing and pressure test is to be witnessed and approved in writing by a member of the Colorado Springs Fire Dept. All aboveground piping and attached appurtenances subjected to system working pressure shall be hydrostatically tested at not less than 200 psi and shall maintain that pressure without loss for 2 hours. Note - This is to include the piping between the fire department connection and the check valve. (NFPA 13:10.10.2.2; 24.2.1) Fire service mains and lead-in connections to system risers shall be completely flushed before connection is made to sprinkler piping. (NFPA 13:10.10.2.1)
FYI(13) ELECTRICAL SUPERVISION REQUIRED: The required electrical supervision of all control valves and water-flow switches of this automatic fire sprinkler system is to be provided. An approved central station, remote station or proprietary supervising station as defined by national standards shall monitor this supervision. PLEASE NOTE - Separate Fire Department approved plans and permits are to be obtained prior to the installation of the required sprinkler system monitoring. A Knox Box is also required. Contact the CSFD for the information needed to order this key box.
FYI(13) STOCK OF SPARE SPRINKLERS: A spare sprinkler head box is to be provided. The box shall contain not less than 6 extra sprinkler heads of the type installed within the system. Refer to NFPA 25 for specific information on how many of each type of head must be provided. It shall also contain the sprinkler wrenches need to replace the heads. (NFPA 13: 6.2.9) NEW 2007 REQUIREMENT: A list of the sprinkler installed in the property shall be posed in the sprinkler cabinet. The list shall include the following information: a) Sprinkler ID Number b) General description of the sprinkler c) Quanitity of each type of sprinkler contained in the cabinet d) Issue or revision date of the list.
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT 20) LICENSED INSTALLER: An On-Site Installer shall supervise all on-site work on any fire sprinkler project. This On-Site Installer shall have a current Installer Certificate, on his person, while on the job site.
Attention(STANDARD COMMENT 22) PRESSURE EXCEEDING 100 PSI: System pressure, at the sprinkler heads, is shown to be over 100 psi. Insure the hangers are spaced as required by NFPA 13:9.2.3.4.1. BRANCH LINES - Distance between the end sprinkler and the last hanger shall be not over 12 inches. ARMOVERS - lengths of unsupported armover to a sprinkler shall not exceed 12 inches. These end hangers (both uses) are to prevent upward movement of the pipe.
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT 23) MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS: The approved set of Fire Sprinkler Plans, manufacture's product data sheets on all equipment being installed, and the installation permit are to be on site for all fire department inspections.
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT 35) CERTIFICATE OF INSTALLATION: Attached to the approved plans is a "Certificate of Installation". It is the installer's responsibility to certify through this form that the system has been properly installed and tested. The form is to be filled out in its entirety PRIOR TO THE ARRIVAL OF THE FIRE INSPECTOR conducting the final inspection and/or acceptance test of the system. FINAL INSPECTIONS WILL NOT BE CONDUCTED WITHOUT THIS FORM BEING COMPLETED.
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT 36) INSPECTIONS Minimum 2-business days notice is required to schedule an inspection. Please have your eight digit "Fire Department Plan Review Number" ready when calling to schedule an inspection.
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT) KHJ - SCHEUDLING INSPECTIONS: STATIONS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 13, 16: Starting October 3, 2005, Fire Inspectors will be scheduling their own calendars. Your assigned Inspector is Kris Johnson. You may contact him at 719-385-7257 to schedule all construction related inspection activities
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT 37) ROUGH VISUAL INSPECTIONS: Rough Visual inspections shall be completed PRIOR TO any bucket tests or final inspections.
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT 38) CONCEALED WORK: The fire sprinkler piping shall not be covered up by walls, sheetrock, ceiling tiles, etc... prior to the CSFD visual inspections of the piping. If the piping is covered, and the inspectors cannot inspect it as is required by Fire Code, the walls,sheetrock, ceiling tiles, etc... will be required to be removed. If this means that finished ceilings will need to be removed, this will be required to be done! (IFC 106.3)
FYI(STANDARD COMMENT 39) ATTENTION: CSFD FEES. All fire department fees are to be paid prior to issuance of any permits. These fees must be paid directly to the Colorado Springs Fire Department - Development Review Enterprise - at 2880 International Circle - Suite 200-7. The Regional Building Department will NOT issue a building permit with out proof the fire department fees have been paid.

Disapproved*****(STANDARD COMMENT 42) The following information and/or corrections are needed prior to conducting a full plan review. PLEASE RESPOND IN WRITING TO EACH OF THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS: 1. The demand point of this deluge system does not fall under the 90% curve as required. Take advantage of having the system apart to upsize some piping or otherwise attempt to get the demand point below the 90% curve. Also review the disapproved plans for additional written comments prior to submittal of new plans.
