DisapprovedATTENTION: PRIVATE FIRE HYDRANT USE AGREEMENT: To add a hydrant lateral off of the private main 2 lots to the West of this site, a private maintenance/use agreement between the lot owners must be signed & recorded. PRIVATE FIRE HYDRANTS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS ARE NOT TO BE USED BY ANYONE OTHER THAN THE OWNER(S) OF THE FIRE HYDRANT(S). Not even the Colorado Springs Fire Department is permitted to use these hydrants for any purpose other than to put out a fire for the owners of the fire hydrants. It is for this reason that you must have city fire hydrants in the immediate vicinity, or, if there are private hydrants, you must have official permission from the owner(s) for you to use them for your new structure. Once you have spoken with the owners of the hydrant you must obtain a legal HYDRANT USE AGREEMENT between yourself and the owners of the hydrant(s). This is a legal document, and it must be registered through The County of El Paso as such. Once you have received your official paperwork back from The County, and it is correctly signed and sealed, the CSFD will grant approval for you to use the private hydrants as a part of the fire protection for your structure. For sample copies of the HYDRANT USER AGREEMENTS, please contact the CSFD Fire Prevention Division.

FYION SITE FIRE HYDRANT FLOWS: PRIOR TO THE TIME OF FIRE FINAL INSPECTIONS, on all new construction sites, it will be the responsibility of the owners, GC, or site manager, to have all new and existing fire hydrants, and private water systems flow tested. Per the UFC, all hydrants are to be installed and in service PRIOR to any construction. ALL HYDRANT TESTS SHALL BE CONDUCTED BEFORE ON-SITE CONSTRUCTION IS STARTED!!! As with any new/revised fire protection system, the Fire Department will need to witness all tests to verify the system will meet the fire flow requirements established during the plan review process. If this test occurs without Fire personnel on site, it will be deemed unacceptable by the inspector thereby delay final approval. FYIFire hydrants are to be painted in compliance with national color coding standards. By using these standards the emergency response crews are provided a quick way to decipher how much water is available from a specific hydrant. The gpm of the hydrants is determined by actual water flow tests, and it is imperative that the testing and color coding is accurate.
FYIThis is a combination public and private water line and hydrant system.
