The Colorado Springs Fire Department protects an area of 195 square miles and a population of over 431,000 citizens. The city's official elevation is 6,035 feet and sits at the base of Pikes Peak along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The city includes 28,800 acres of wildland urban interface.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department provides the following services to the community: fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, heavy rescue services, fire code enforcement and plan review, fire investigations, wildland mitigation, community education, and community health services.
