This house is representative of the Queen Anne style residences erected in the late 19th century in Colorado Springs. The style is reflected in the steeply pitched roof, asymmetrical composition, combination of decorative shingles and horizontal siding, bay windows and dormers, decorative glass and porch with turned spindle supports and balustrade.
Built as a single-family residence about 1894, an early resident was Eph C. Smith, an engineer for the Colorado Springs Rapid Transit Railway. Apparently transformed into apartments in the 1930's, the building has since been returned for use as a single-family residence. Locally significant.
