This small frame house with Queen Anne style ornamentation is representative of the homes of working class families in the area south of downtown Colorado Springs during the late 19th century. The house displays features typical of dwellings erected in this style, including decorative shingles, a bay window, and an ornately embellished porch with a frieze, turned spindle supports and a balustrade.
Built around 1894, the first known occupant was Charles R. James, who lived here with his wife Jane and their children. Locally significant.
